back home, one of the main things I used to do was train people to control their abilities - i've spent quite a number of years teaching myself control through various techniques, as it's pretty essential for me to keep things in check.

in a bid to feel useful to the community, interest check:

well, i'm a demigod
son of hades
so my powers generally are related to raising the dead
and controlling spirits/ghosts.
i can also travel via the shadows
and walk through people's dreams.
most of my training centers on sparring
and sword fighting, though
can you help with that?

and you're in full control of all these things? it never takes over you when you don't want it to?

sword fighting isn't my forte - it's outdated in my world, but hand-to-hand combat is a specialty of mine. and even if you needed someone to face off with, i'm a pretty good opponent even if i don't know the technique

i haven't unleashed my shadow powers to hurt anyone in a long time
and at that time, i did it on purpose.

i'm not great with hand-to-hand combat
so i could use some work on that
we use swords tho since guns don't work
on monsters.

well then, i can help you with hand to hand, and you can help me with swordfighting. I haven't used guns in a long time - used to be military, but in recent years i've only relied on hand to hand.

i work for one of the norse gods, the younger loki
i'm pretty much head of security at his nightclub

oh, so keeping yourself at peak combat wise could be truly useful

is there a lot of gods, around here?

there's three of us demigods.
two of us are greek, the other is norse
and like... three gods.
all norse: thor, and two lokis

and here I thought my world and its mutants was enough of a mess

do you mingle with humans? do they know you exist, other than in a religious sense?

not really.
i know a few mortals, but i tend to stick to camp
where we train and are kept safe from monsters

there are two.
one for greek demigods
and one for roman demigods.
both are hidden from mortals.

the hiding thing, can it be done for human structures, too? we had a mutant in our group for a while that could project images and make us invisible, but it's never been a sustainable solution

that's a good question.
the barrier around camp halfblood is sustained by the mist
as well as a special tree planted by zeus.
i think that if we had someone who could manipulate the mist
well enough, they could hide human structures for you.

that's assuming there are demigods in your world.
if there are, i wouldn't be surprised they'd want to work with you

I have no idea, obviously. Been too busy looking at what we were going to do the next day to even contemplate long term solutions, let alone turning to mythology

this place, here, is so different from home, i don't know if i'll ever get used to it.


out of curiosity, why would demigods want to work with us? they like desperate causes?

i know what you mean.
when i'm on a quest, it's totally by the seat of my pants
there's hardly any time to stop and think
which makes it nice when i live at the end and have camp to go to

we'd help because
well
you're not so different.
if we didn't have a safe place, we'd be persecuted too
besides, helping people is kinda a thing we do
saving the world and all that.

our goal isn't so much about saving the world than just gaining some proper rights, be allowed to live the same way humans do, without prejudice

i say 'just', but back home, it's practically a war, between us and those who want to see us all rot in detention centers.

or worse.
