[ When the camera comes on, anyone who knows Lyle will see a familiar face smiling back at them. Well, familiar except the eyepatch (and maybe he looks a little younger? It could just be the lighting). ]

Hi. I bet I got some of you thinking “what happened to Lyle” for a second there. Surprise, I’m his big brother. I don’t now how it’s done here, but by my estimate today is Lyle’s birthday! Consider this an invitation to celebrate with us. You don’t even have to be his friend. Come over and make a friend. No gifts required. Food will be provided.

[he was going to say so many things when he first saw that face on screen. even though the person looks like Lyle, Osomatsu can immediately tell the difference. as a twin (sextuplet!) himself, he knows how important it is to... you know, distinguish one person from the other. defining traits, yadda-yadda.

Osomatsu grins at the camera]

Ah, so you’re Neil. It’s a pleasure. And, uh. Happy birthday. [check out that eyepatch, even!]

[ Well, anyone who spends more than a few minutes with the Dylandys could probably tell them apart easily. Lockon's not surprised that Lyle's friend can tellt hem apart on sight. ]

I am, though not many people call me that. I prefer Lockon if it's all the same. And who might you be?

Right, right. Sorry. Lyle mentioned that you'd changed your name for some reason. [Lockon still sounds... weird, but then again, Osomatsu is Japanese, so foreign names all sound kind of strange to him] I'll remember next time! [no he won't] My name is Osomatsu!

Oh? I'm surprised he mentioned me.

[ Maybe he shouldn't be surprised, but he always thought he'd some something to earn his brother's ire all those years ago. It was easier to deal with the estrangement thinking Lyle was upset than to admit he hadn't made any real effort to reconnect with his brother. Sorry, Lyle. ]

Osomatsu... [ He repeats the name slowly, sounding it out to make sure he didn't brutalize it too badly. ] How do you know my little brother?

[well, Lyle doesn't talk about Lockon often...]

That's... a funny story, actually. [it's not a funny story, but Osomatsu's nervous. he feels like he's meeting a parent, only it matters more because Lockon is the older twin] Y'see we're kind of... sort of... dating?

[ Well, well, well... A slow grin spreads over Lockon's face. ]

Only kind of sort of?

[Osomatsu's own grin twitches a bit. he needs to have more conviction, needs to be more confident. so coughs into his hand to clear his throat, then lifts his head and nods]

I mean, we are. We were friends for months, an' then decided to take things to the next level.

[lockonstratos]

I guess I'll be seeing a lot of you, then, yeah?

[ A sudden realization comes to him and his smile fades into something more like worry. ]

You weren't planning anything for his birthday were you? I don't want to get in the way!

[heh! Osomatsu nods]

Nah, you're not getting in the way! I just was gonna get 'im a gift, then take him out to dinner. But if there's gonna be a party, I can always go to that instead!

[lockonstratos]

[ He sighs in relief. Of course his brother had friends here; why hadn't it occurred to him that they might have plans for the day? ]

Great! You should definitely be there!

Is it just gonna be at his place?

[lockonstratos]

Yeah. If you know any of his friends, let them know. I've been remiss in my duty as a brother and I haven't met most of them yet.

Come to think of it... I'm not sure all who knows Lyle. I know he's been here a while, but...

[lockonstratos]

I guess if anyone he's not on good terms with shows up, we'll just have to kick them out.

Hey, you're pretty hardcore. What happens if that person that gets kicked out gets mad an' wants to burn the building down?

[lockonstratos]

[ Deadpan: ] We kill them first.

[ A beat passes before the laughs. ] Can you think of anyone who dislikes Lyle enough to do that? I mean, for everyone's safety, I'd like to know.

[maaaaan... he laughs too]

Don't think anyone does, thankfully. I mean, unless he's going bad things that I don't know about. I think we should be okay.

[lockonstratos]

Oh, good!

I was just joking about the murder thing, by the way.

Uuhh, yeah. I figured. [you never know, though. Lockon goes by a codename, doesn't he?]

So, are you a robot-fighter pilot like Lyle?

[lockonstratos]

[ Oh, that's a sensitive topic for him. Something heavier than his genial expression breaks through the surface before he can wrestle it down again. ]

Yeah, I guess I am. Or I was.

[was, huh? Osomatsu opens his mouth to say something else, but he manages to stop himself before he blurts it out. he almost forgot...

he'll just... casually switch topics]

[ That easy smile returns just as quickly as if faltered and Lockon nods eagerly. ]
