riverview | [video || un: scavenger.rey] (forward dated to 3/28)

[The comm flickers to life and starts to stream instant video. It's drizzling, but who would've left their device out in the rain? A porg steps forward, soon joined by two more. Each of them staring at the screen, chirping and trying to figure out what was going on. The first one to approach picks up the device, showcasing the forest scenery and Rey sitting cross-legged under a tree wearing a poncho. She looks like she's meditating and not paying attention.

There's another squawk with the porg carrying the device turning around to see another porg poking and then TURNING ON the lightsaber out of Rey's bag. The brunette hears the sound and instantly turns around.]

Hey! What are you doing?

[The porgs freeze for a split second, then start running. The porg playing with the lightsaber manages to turn the thing off, picks it up and now both porgs are running away.]

Come back here! [The video turns shakey with two thieving birds taking off with Rey's things, but she's hot on their trial. It looks like they're preparing to fly, beating their wings and ready to take off--but they're frozen in mid air. The video displays the porgs moving backwards, being drawn back. When they're turned around, the camera captures Rey with her hand out and drawing both birds back with the Force. She grabs the porg with her lightsaber and puts that back on her belt, sets it down and then grabs the porg that has her device.]

Don't do that again, okay? [It feels useless to talk to the birds, but better than being upset. She doesn't realize the video feed has been on this entire time.]

[ooc: based off of this adorable video. Additionally, 3/28 was the 'birthday' Rey picked out with Cisco, but she's treating it as any other day. So..have at thee!]

[ Her expression shifts to a more serious one. ]

Something from my world. Why?

We have magic on my world. Some of it doesn't work on me, but if that wasn't magic, I bet you could sling me around too! It's a neat thought.

[ A weird but honest answer. Rey...is hesitant to give him the benefit of the doubt, but she is willing to believe he isn’t aligned with the First Order. It’s also a habit of hers to keep people at a distance.

His answer does cause the serious look on her face to give way to confusion. ]

Why would I want to sling you around? I wouldn’t, not unless you gave me a reason to. [ And hopefully he wouldn’t. ]

But, it’s not magic, it’s something called The Force. It’s a long story.

[he's seen people with similar looks, those who are wary of others for one reason or another. minsu's sort of drawn to them, because if they ever do smile or let down their guard, it's always nice.]

I used to be a thief. I'm just imagining if someone had pulled me back the way you did those cuties.

[the force. minsu mouths the words, but it doesn't ring any bells, of course.]

Can everyone on your world do it?

[Used to be a thief? If he tried to steal anything from her, he wouldn't be thrown against the wall, rather, she would knock him using her staff or her own fists.]

I hope you know not to do that here. I don't think too many of us would take kindly to that.

[That is a loaded question, even though he didn't mean it.]

Not everyone, no. It's a rare ability.

[it's his very first job, and he's extremely proud of it.]

[minsu nods at that, mouth forming a soft "oh".]

You're lucky then. [he remembers then that not everyone who can do something rare or unusual feels that way. sometimes they don't feel lucky at all. sometimes they feel cursed.] Don't you think so?

[It takes a split second for Rey to recall that coffee and caf were the one in the same.]

I don't drink much caf--coffee, but maybe I'll stop by one day.

[The pensive look comes back, with her staring at him and debating about what to say to him. Was she lucky? No, not in the way she sees it. Luck had nothing to do with the circumstances of her life. As for the Force....depending upon who one asked, she could be lucky or cursed. The ability to use the Force could be a burden because she would have to keep Ben in check...

Or it could be freeing to know there was only one person who could match her.]

I don't really know, depends on who you ask. I'm...content with it, if that's what you're asking.

Ah, me either. It smells nice though. You can come and smell it too.

[it's so generous of him to offer air. but she could sit there all day if she wanted. minsu would keep her company, or fix something else for her.

minsu waits for her answer, looking more and more concerned about what it might be. that's why he smiles a little when she seems to settle on one. one that could be worse.]

Yeah, I think it is. That's good. Being at peace with yourself...I guess there's no feeling like it.

[Generous of him, but you'd be surprised by how rare generosity was offered on Jakku--not without a price. She may or may not visit, it depends if she is busy or not--and if she manages to catch him during his shift.]

I suppose, there's nothing I can do to change it. It's part of me, and to deny it would only make things more difficult. I'm still learning, but I'm comfortable with having it.

Me too - I don't have anything as cool as the force in me. But there are parts of me that I'm trying to be more comfortable with. At least until I am able to change them.

No, like...physically change. But something a little harder than changing your hair color or...getting something pierced.

You don’t need to say. Something as physically changing yourself, I don’t think much about—-if only because I didn’t have time to think about it.
