[This is audio because Shiro really doesn't feel like showing his face. Maybe he's being a bit vain given the circumstances... but oh well]

I have a feeling I am not the only one, but I feel like death warmed over. Whatever this is is really annoying and pretty much nothing helps. I think I've hit the point of exhaustion where I just can't sleep anymore.

[In the background there's the sound of one of the lions, purring very close to the phone]

Okay, yes I see you. Some space please.

If I die from this, can someone put this on my grave - "he died as he lived - being attacked by robots".

[There's a very audible huff and the metallic sound of the lion stalking away]

Come on. I was joking. Ow...

[And that's when it cuts off.

Fine, but if I determine you do have the virus, you're coming to the hospital. You'll need the intensive care.

I don't know if this helps at all, but I took care of a coma patient for a long time back home. I'll be right there to help you through recovery when you wake back up.

Well, I guess it helps, but that's not the only reason I'm worried.

I guess maybe I should explain in person.

[So yes, come over]

Fair enough. I'll see you when I get there.

[Of course he could just be making a big deal out of nothing, but better safe than having a guy in a coma]

[He really does appreciate it even if he's concerned.

And when he arrives there will be a lion peering out the window from one of the front windows. He's friendly, really]

[Yep that sure is a lion. Well, Sam had mice minions, so why the hell not? Victor lifts up his medical bag so the lion knows why he's here before he comes inside.

Though he doesn't really need the bag to check if this is the virus. All he really needs is James's tricorder, as it detects the presence of nanites. Then again, this guy could have them for some other reason, but it at least narrows things down]

All right, I'm going to scan your body with this device. If it comes up negative, you have some other illness that we can treat. If it's positive, it's more likely you'll have the virus.

[Well, a robot lion. They tended to eat less and could definitely comprehend that the other was there to help. Black walked over as he opened the door and then practically lead the way back to Shiro who was on the couch before sitting down just far enough out of the way.

Shiro at least had taken precautions to attempt not to get anyone else sick. He had one of those medical style face masks on to try and keep from spreading. If he was feeling this bad, he didn't want to give it to Keith or anyone else. But around that, he definitely looked sick]

Okay. I'm Shiro, by the way.

[Since yeah, it was a little less strange that way]

And that's Black.

Hello, Shiro and Black. I'm Doctor Frankenstein. I have a device that can scan your body for nanites, which we've discovered is a key component to the virus.

[He glances over to be sure that Black is far enough away that his machinery won't interfere with the read, then passes the tricorder over Shiro]

By the way, we've discovered that this spreads through physical contact, too. So be careful, all right?

[When the doctor glanced at Black, the robot got up and moved a little further out of the way as though it understood why he'd been looking. He was still within eye sight of Shiro]

Nanites? Wait, so this really is being spread by robots?

[And here he'd been joking about that... Off to the side, Black grumbled]

What do you mean that's what you were telling me before?

[If a robot lion with solid yellow eyes could have rolled its eyes, Black probably would have.

Well, without even reading the tricorder, Frankenstein would probably have his answer there]

We've actually discovered that it's a combination of mechanical and magical components.

[Yep, the tricorder is confirming Black's diagnosis] Looks like you should've listened to your friend. Animals, apparently even mechanical ones, have a good sense for when people are sick. That's why they're often used for people who experience epilepsy and other medical conditions.

Great...

[Can you feel the sarcasm with that]

Well, they do have sensors because they are usually large enough we pilot them... so I should have realized they'd be able to notice something like that.

So I guess that means you're going to make me go to hospital, huh.

[And Black gets up, coming closer for Shiro to lean on him, but Shiro doesn't get up just yet]

Well... there is something your friend here can try. If he's able to send out an electromagnetic pulse, that may be enough to disable the nanites in your body. Other than that, you have to go to the hospital because of the impending coma.

[Shiro looked at Black, who looked back at him with those yellow eyes. After a moment, Shiro sighed]

He said no, that's not his thing or he would have done it by now. That's more Blue's thing.

I will warn you, I may not be the easiest patient. I haven't... had the best experience with medical settings.

I figured as much. Listen, I will be your doctor and be with you every step of the way. I had this illness not long ago and went into a coma, so I'm coming from personal experience. I promise you'll be okay.

[There was still a moment of hesitation before Shiro nodded] Okay. Thanks.

[He finally relented, partially because he didn't really want to have Keith deal with him going into a coma there in their house. Knowing it was pretty much inevitable, that was not something he wanted to wish on his teammate.

He started pushing himself up, Black immediately moving in to give Shiro something to lean on]

And Black can come too?

[He'd feel better with his lion there]

Hell, you can ride him into the hospital if it'll get you there. [And again, Sam has his mice, so Victor is perfectly fine with the robot lion]

[As soon as the suggestion is made, Black is crouching down to let Shiro get on his back. Nope, no option to back out of going to the hospital, Shiro. Even the lion is insisting]

I guess I'm riding Black.

[He does get on Black's back, the action taking longer this time because of the illness, but once he was settled, Black was getting up again. Lead the way, Doctor. You have a robot lion following you]

[That is what he does. He keeps close to make sure Shiro doesn't slide off, and when they get to the hospital he assures the front desk that the robot lion is okay. Since Shiro is a bit nervous about the hospital, Victor leads the lion to a private room]

I'll tell the staff to page me if you need anything.

[Shiro's glad he stays close since he feels very unstable riding Black at the moment and it felt like it was taking more energy than he had. He has a death grip on the lion's metal... or at least he thinks its a death grip. It definitely isn't.

By the time they reach the hospital, he's actually kind of relieved because that means he can get down soon. But he has a feeling Black will surprising people most of the time he's here.

As soon as they get to the room, Black heads over to the bed, moving along side it so Shiro can sit down on it without having to walk]

Thanks. I appreciate that. How long does this disease last?

I'm afraid that it's been pretty random. I fell ill quickly and was in a coma for three days, but you could just be out for a day or even a few hours. Or it could be a week. I haven't figured out yet what determines this, but what we do know is that once you come out of the coma, you're immune to the disease.

[Shiro sighed, moving to lay back as Black tried to nudge him. When did he end up with a lion for a nurse?

Once Shiro was settled, Black moved out of the way, sitting down by the foot of the bed]

I guess I can only hope for it be short.

Fingers crossed. [All the equipment to help monitor and care for him once the coma hits is already in the room, which hopefully is assuring rather than intimidating]

I'm going to make my rounds. Press the call button if you need me. Or I guess Black could come get me if you can't reach the button.

[Maybe a bit of both. His rational side knows what they are for, but the other part finds having to give up that control unnerving. But Black is there. That somehow makes this less strange]

Will do. I'm going to try and get some sleep.

Good idea. I'll be back to check on you before my shift is over. I have a pager, though, and I'll try to get here quickly if I'm at home when it goes off.

[He really did appreciate it. If he hadn't known about the coma part, it would have really freaked Keith out and he didn't want that. He could deal with the hospital just for that.

And Black had already told him about letting Keith know so he could go to sleep]
