[Tony and Loki staring at everyone with shiteating grins on this great fourth of July.]

We’re happy to present the American Eagle. Customized for this very celebration, Captain America’s birthday. It has many features. Note its colourful plumage and the fact that it can sing the national . . . anthem? I believe that is what it called. Though why a nation needs its own song, I know not.

[Tony rolling his eyes.]

Because God Bless America etc etc. Our great nation was created so we may all look upon those asses today.

And since I blessed it last year, I have come again to bless it once more. With this eagle and my continued presence to his ass.

[Presenting the burd. It starts to sing.



Tony meanwhile is taken aback.]

Wait what? When did you hit that? Which one?!

I can understand that. It's a sweet way to celebrate his birthday. In sort of a very Tony sort of way.

Stark is Stark. I simply enjoy a good joke.

Well, it definitely made me laugh.

Well, it worked. Are you at the school right now?

[Look, Loki Steve said it was your birthday, so Alex got you a present and wrapped it and needs to deliver it.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki blinks. ]

I'm at the park, since we cannot take an eagle indoors.

Okay. Cool. Mind if I swing by? I've got something for you.

[Steve said it was your birthday, Loki and this is what friends do. Give other friends weird flavored booze.]

[dothelokimotion]

I do not mind.

[ Though he's not entirely sure why. ]

Okay. Cool.

[And a little while later, Alex shows up with an elaborately wrapped box, because Steve said it needs a bow, so she put two on there. Inside the box there's two bottles of liquor. One is pickle flavored and the other is supposed to taste like sunshine. Or so the merchant said.]

[ Loki spots Alex and . . . whatever that was. ]

A gift?

Yeah. I was told it was your birthday and to make sure that your present had bows, so here you go.

[Alex is just going to grin with that, and offer him the green-wrapped box. It's Loki. It has to be green.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ His what now. Loki looks utterly baffled before comprehension dawns on him. Steve. ]

Ah — Yes. In a manner of speaking.

[ He takes it politely, still a bit confused at this new turn of events. ]

[For a minute Alex just looks confused as well, and she raises a brow for a second before she asks:]

Something that's not really any of my business but it sort of counts as a private joke?

[Alex isn't the least bit offended. No, from the smile and the lightness of her tone, she just sounds amused.]

Either way, friends give birthday presents even if it's not their birthday I guess, so open it!

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki smiles faintly. ]

Somewhat. I don't have a birthday the way most do.

[ He starts unwrapping the gift delicately, because manners. ]

Well, I'd tell you what I told someone else who told me that: just pick one and celebrate it, but it seems like Steve already did that.

[Alex just grins at him for a minute, waiting for him to open it.]

You're more polite than Iam. I'd have ripped through that sucker like it was nothing. It's part of the fun!

[dothelokimotion]

I'm not used to giftwrapping.

[ Asgard didn't exactly wrap gifts and celebrate Christmas. So Loki rarely saw the point. His expression brightens briefly, looking over the bottles. ]

Alcohol. Always appreciated.

Not just alcohol. Weird alcohol. I know they didn't have the moon one, but one of them is supposed to taste like sunshine or something.

Is that so? Then I look forward to trying it.

Yep! If nothing else, have a very merry Unbirthday!

[Alex just grins more than a little bit when she says it.]

Unbirthday?

Yeah, it's a thing from an Earth Book, Alice in Wonderland. The Mad Hatter and his friends celebrate things called an 'unbirthday' so they can have a party even if it's not theirs.

A good celebration to have, I think. They even have a song.

So it is an excuse to have a celebration, essentially.

[Alex just grins and nods.]

Yeah, basically. And thanks for not making me sing the song.
