What would you do with your freedom, if you had it for the first time in your life and never learned how to use it?

[ The question is awkwardly phrased, true, but he really is pretty desperate for advice. One way and another, he's been pent up and under supervision since he was born, and now he doesn't really know how else to be. ]

Yes, the absence of a demanding schedule is a lovely change. I wasted one whole day and felt very liberated. But surely doing nothing grows old, in time?

[Would doing nothing for an extended period of time get dull eventually, sure. But he doesn't actually know what his threshold is. Anonymity affords Robbie the opportunity to actually answer the question without fear of actual judgment.]

Honestly? I couldn't even tell you the last time I had nothing to do. I'm sure the reality of doing nothing would be boring after about five minutes, but the thought of it is appealing.

You are right of course. It is easy to idealize another's situation, and overlook the comforts of one's own life.

It's a different kind of busy. Ignore my complaining though. I don't mind that much.

Do you have a few ideas that you're trying to decide between as far as your free time goes?

I am a different kind of busy here, too. I like my job much better than the one I had at home.

Somewhat. It is not choosing diverting pastimes that is troubling me. This place is full of many distractions and entertainments. The source of my struggle is... knowing that there is no one to deny me, or dictate what is possible. I have never been the owner of my own time. The feeling is a strange one.

Ah. I guess if you're not used to calling the shots it would feel pretty strange. At least you've got plenty of time to get the hang of it.
