[ He misses Stephen. One of his best friends (if he could consider himself as having them) for months, a backbone to lean on and firm supporter of the Loki Isn't A Total Shitbag club, is gone, and while the Sanctum actually is larger on the inside than the out, it feels somehow emptier. He smashed several priceless artefacts with no repercussions, no sorcerer appeared to put him in time-out or ask with strained patience what he was doing, which is how he knows Stephen really has returned through the portal. That, and Loki's private alarm went off as Stephen left the dimension; his finger pricked with blood on its own, a warning.
So he sits in Stephen's main study in a theatrically winged armchair because this house is nothing if not extra, dust motes floating through lazy afternoon golden light. He does so with arms folded, frowning, ignoring the giant green viper with its head resting over the back of the chair upon his shoulder (Freyja is sad too). He takes a breath. ]
Stephen Strange from Earth-616 has returned home, albeit leaving his actual house here. The Sanctum Sanctorum is hereby officially all mine until he returns, fight me for it, etcetera. [ The unnaturally large serpent boops his cheek with her huge nose, supporting and prompting him to continue as he scratches under her chin. ] Er, I guess Avengers are still welcome if you ever visited Stephen in the first place, whatever. Come by if you have any magical problems, I ...
[ He pauses (maybe for effect!!) and pulls the Cloak of Levitation into shot, draping it around his shoulders. What is more impressive is the cloak lets him.
(It has instructions to babysit a certain godling, not that Loki knows that.)
He sets his jaw, sitting up straight. ]
It happens in our future anyway, he said. I suppose I'm this realm's new Sorcerer Supreme, for now.

[ And also because it bears saying: ] Sorry about your friend, by the way.

It sounds pretentious because it is, but it's also an important role.

You weren’t exactly produced in Midgard, though.

[ Chuckling, he shrugs onward with an actual answer. ]
Anyone can be the Saucy Supreme, you needn't be human. As long as you swear to protect Earth to the best of your capability, or until you're replaced.

( would he? nah. but stephen leaving is hard on a lot of people he imagines, billy may as well try and. not be too noticeably depressed over it. though he is moving to slip on shoes, head out to the sanctum. . )

[ He brings the cloak up to cover his nose, batting his lashes over it at Billy like a coquettish southern belle. ]

( the whole red and green thing mildly works on loki, but also. red and green and gold is a bit. much. )
Strange talked to me once about becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, too.

I always assumed you'd be the next one.

[He never got to meet Stephen, but he knows he was important to Billy and Loki. Plus, it's Doctor Strange. Always a good guy to have around.]
Sorry. But it's cool you have the Sanctum still.
[Sort of anyway? Provided there's not a door that leads to a hell dimension they don't know about or something.]
no subject
Yeah. Hey, Teddy. If you want to, like, pick out a room ... That's cool. In case you ever stop over. Rain or something.
[ !!! ]
no subject
Are you sure about that? I mean, I'd like it, if you are.
no subject
Yeah, go ahead. It doesn't ... make any sense for you not to have a room here.
[ It may have taken months but given that he made the decision on his own, it'll stick. He's stubborn to a fault, but no longer unnecessarily cruel. And he kinda misses Teddy's company when Billy is off doing his own thing. ]
Bedrooms are second-floor, usually.

There's almost a pang of deception upon hearing the departure of the other Strange. And maybe a bit of regret, as Stephen mildly wishes he hadn't been too...proud o get in touch with the other master of the mystic arts, if only to compare magic and stories.
His own Cloak perks up at the sight of its counterpart, and it bristles as the other one settles on the godling's shoulders. Even if the Ancient One had called it a 'fickle thing', it seems that its sense of loyalty is set in stone.
The face on the feed might look familiar to Loki, and it shows Stephen raising an eyebrow with an unimpressed expression:]
Is that how it works in your world? You pick up the Cloak and you're suddenly the Sorcerer Supreme?
[No, he's not going to fight the Asgardian for the title. It's just that, a title, and Stephen is mature enough to concede that he's not ready for it. Not that he'll ever admit it out loud.]
no subject
The Cloak around his shoulders gives a wave to its counterpart, resigned to babysitting. ]
There are challenges and fights when the title is contested, if Those Who Sit Above think you aren't doing a good job ... but this is more on loan, feels like.
Hello, Stephen. You just missed yourself.
no subject
Ask him again after he sees your female form. Stephen blinks lightly at the new information: clearly he shouldn't have skipped lessons in favor of teaching himself at Kamar-Taj while the Ancient One was still alive. And even after her death, Wong and him had been so occupied with training in order to keep the Time Stone safe, that he's never really asked who appoints the new Sorcerer Supreme, or how they are chosen.Cloaky waves back to its cosmic grand-father, considering visiting its counterpart whenever Stephen doesn't need its help, if only to entertain the other Cloak from its babysitting duties. In the mean time, Strange frowns lightly:]
'Those Who Sit Above'? Who do you mean by that?
[Certainly can't be gods, since Loki is surely considering himself like one. Outside influences on the masters of the Mystic Arts is a bit surprising. And perhaps a tad worrisome.
The portal of this world has been playing yoyo with him, but Strange is not exactly surprise that this Loki knows him.]
Hello, Loki. I have met my other self, briefly. But I never got the chance to see his version of the Sanctum Sanctorum.
[Please tell him its filled with spell books?]

[ Cloak party will happen at some point, maybe with punch and crackers. It's only polite, even if no one attending owns a mouth or digestive tract. ]
Gee, now you'll never see the inside of this place. Hard luck!
[ Look at that smirk. Say please, Stephen. ]

[Losing someone sucks and she knows it, so there's sympathy in her voice. But not enough sympathy not to ask:]
What is a Sorcerer Supreme?
