ragnarsson: ([17.28] Plotting)

That's the second-most interesting creature I've heard of here.

[He still thinks his fire horse is cooler, because a horse on fire tops everything, even something like a Dragon Bat.]

Good. I'll take him to you if I find him. What's his name?

The horse I captured that was on fire. His name is Skinfaxi. I'm training him right now.

[His Ponyta is the best and nothing anyone tells him will convince him otherwise.]

[He can hear the skepticism in Damian's tone. He can't have that now, so he switches over to video. He pulls out the Pokeball and tosses it. There's a brief flash of light that's partially off-screen. Ivar turns the video around, revealing a colt with long legs, a broad chest, oh, and his tail and mane composed entirely of red-orange flames.]

Say hello, Skinfaxi.

[The Ponyta dutifully comes up and snuffles the phone, so Damian is subject to a video full of the horse's nose and muzzle.]
ragnarsson: ([17.21] Mmmhmm)

[Skinfaxi steps back after sniffing the phone. Ivar pets the Ponyta's mane fondly. His hand runs through the flames without any signs of discomfort or burning occurring.]

A creature called a Pokemon. This kind in particular is called a Ponyta. There's many different ones beyond the wall.

There's plenty that hang around the lake outside the city walls. Most are gentle if you don't startle them or try to capture them. Want to go?

[He'll gladly take Damian to go see them. Ivar is much more fond of animals than he is of people most of the time.]
ragnarsson: ([17.32] So who is this)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-07-06 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Mostly, it was a lot of patience in making friends with him. But when my girlfriend startled him, we ended up having to battle him with her Pokemon in order to capture him.

[It hadn't been Ivar's first plan, but it had worked well enough. Skinfaxi had taken a while to lose his nervousness after that.
ragnarsson: ([19.7] It's worth a shot)

It looks like a haunted tree stump. [Hey, he didn't invent these critters, or he definitely would have gone with less ridiculous looks for them.] It's called a Phantump. She gave him the name Sprig.

I wish I knew. [He'd named his Ponyta Skinfaxi, which was a perfectly sensible Norse name that meant "shining mane".] But ridiculous names or not, I like them. They all have abilities they can be trained to use, or so I've been told.

ragnarsson: ([19.4] I've got an idea)

At present. Capturing them isn't easy, but I'm told battling wild ones with the tame ones is easier than just doing it on your own.

[But Skinfaxi wasn't full-grown yet and Ivar wasn't willing to risk injury to his fiery colt.]

If the opportunity presents itself. Capturing Skinfaxi was hard enough as it was. But I've seen an black one with electric powers I might have my eye on.

[He's got a theme of horse Pokémon going on here.]
