I noticed other new arrivals asking after their friends. While I could do that, my friends are generally difficult to miss. The Krogan ones especially.

The welcoming party and I had a bit of a go and that landed me nowhere. Sooo I figure maybe someone can help a poor guy out and show him where he can crash? Maybe even find something to eat that won't kill him?

That last one might be a little much to ask for.

Thanks, but as far as housing goes, I think we have that issue resolved.

[It's going to be the blind leading the blind on that, but it's not like Garrus will realize this until later.]

As for what I can eat? I can eat anything as long as it's dextro and not levo. I'm starting to think that it might be my universe that is the odd one out on that.

[ Steve nods both in acceptance of Garrus's answer and as a greeting. Hello, stranger. The part about food visibly confuses him, and the blond's eyebrows press toward each other as he hears the new words.]

Sorry, I've never heard food described that way. But I'm sure there's a way to find what you need. Can you give me an example?

So quick biochemistry lesson: amino acids can be found in every organic thing. String enough of them together and they make proteins. Proteins have many specialized uses in the body. Human amino acids are levo-based. Turians, on the other hand, are dextro-based. Basically my body wouldn't know what to do with coffee or even bread.

[Because different building blocks. Hopefully that paints the picture a little more clearly. If not... Eh oh well.]

I could give you an example, but you probably wouldn't have come across it unless you were looking for it.

[ It's like talking to Reed or Tony. Or Hank on one of his more impatient swings. Steve can pick up the basic idea, but the details don't come as easily as they would for a scientific mind like one of them. He frowns slightly, but is still determined to help. ]

[ Because if he's looking for a specific objective, he can retrieve it. That much seems straightforward. ]

So Garrus does his best to describe basics. Hell, he even mentions the bars he and Tali had on the Normandy. Anything will do really.]

[The description definitely comes in as new to him, but Steve isn't deterred. So he hasn't seen "dextro" food before. He's dealt with aliens and gods. Surely there is some way he can resolve this so the stranger doesn't starve. He nods firmly.]

All right. I'll ask around and find something you can eat. What are you doing in the meantime?

I, uh... Appreciate that.

[Awkward, but grateful nonetheless. People normally don't concern themselves with food Turians or Quarians need beyond anything basic. Thus Garrus doesn't really know how to take the gesture.]

I'll be fine for a day or two. Shouldn't be too hard to find something by then.

[All Steve knows for sure is that this guy is going to starve if someone doesn't get him food. He does feel that the Riverview government will be trying to help, but he doesn't know if they'll be able to figure out how. So he decides he's going to ask around on his own. He'll ask Tony, because that's the first smart mind Steve thinks of.]
