 I noticed other new arrivals asking after their friends. While I could do that, my friends are generally difficult to miss. The Krogan ones especially.

The welcoming party and I had a bit of a go and that landed me nowhere. Sooo I figure maybe someone can help a poor guy out and show him where he can crash? Maybe even find something to eat that won't kill him?

That last one might be a little much to ask for.

It's Ivar The Boneless. And I can't walk, so I'll let you decide just how bad it is.

I'm sure there are people here that could, uh... I don't want to use the word "fix," but that's the word that's coming to mind here so just roll with it. They could fix that for you. If you wanted them to.

Not that there's anything wrong with it, mind you.

[Awkward backpedaling? Maybe just a bit. Garrus isn't really sure how to say "hey walking isn't everything" and blend in "but if you wanted to walk, it's probably possible here."]

Again, no arguments there.

[And Garrus had been doing so well there. But he just touched off one of Ivar's biggest trigger buttons. Though he doesn't mean it, all Ivar can hear is pity.]

I don't need to be fixed because there's nothing wrong with me!

[The words are snapped out in an angry, biting tone.]

[Yup. Foot in mouth disease.]

I didn't think of it like that. It's just if you wanted to walk, I'm sure there's someone here that could arrange something.

But you're fine the way you are too.

[That's just making him madder and madder. He's furious now.]

Sure, just because I'm a cripple must mean that I should walk like everyone else. It's the only way I'd ever be equal to them, right?

[Way to twist things around, Ivar.]

I didn't say that. At all.

There's a guy I know that has brittle bone disease. He can't really walk without help and just bumping him could break his bones. Doesn't stop him at all since he flies ships. Best damn pilot I know and he has nothing by my respect.

[Some of the fierceness leaves his voice when he speaks next. Garrus' words have struck a chord.]

That's what one of the doctors here said that I have. It's the reason I can't walk. My leg bones are too weak. But it didn't stop me from becoming a warrior.

If Joker ever shows up, I'll be sure to introduce the two of you.

Personally, I have a lot of respect for people who don't let life shove them around.

Then you're one of the few. Respect's hard to come by where I'm from. Hard to earn and hard to keep when everyone sees you as nothing.

[Very bitter. But at least Garrus understands anger and bitterness, to a certain degree.]

I'm starting to get that impression.

It's a good thing to remember.

[At least when dealing with Ivar. All he really had was his pride and anger to help sustain him. It made for a prickly personality that many found hard to get along with.]
