1. does VR exist in your world
2. do you have any experience with programming
3. what's the height of technology available in your world
4. are you interested in video games
5. are you interested in contests of skill as opposed to brute strength

[No hello how are you my name is--none of that. Just a list of five questions--so are you going to answer, or not?]

Then maybe you should gear the question more towards that. The tech I have won't be of much use for virtual reality gaming.

So you're looking to hide.

It doesn't matter what your reasons are. Turning away from reality won't solve anything.

[ long pause while she hates herself a little for contemplating this, but ... curiosity wins out. ]

What is it? Programming.

[ she considers her weird phone for a few seconds, then concludes: ] Magic can do the same. Maybe even better.

That sounds interesting but...

What's the point of cool-looking food if it won't fill you up?

i dunno. science. a different way of enjoying food. it's not my style but there are methods from molecular gastronomy that can be applied to other ways of cooking.

But you can only do this using expensive technology? Doesn't that make it pretty inaccessible?

rich people seem to know a lot of other rich people so everything they do attracts one another. it's strange.

Why? It's important for people to understand each other.

You aren't doing anything to help yourself if you keep running away.

The only reason no one can understand you is because you won't let them. It might be easier for you, but what about the people around you? Your life affects more than just yourself.

If a crime happens and you don't report it, or if you say something hurtful and you don't try to make amends, can you really say that no one else is being affected? Being self-centered doesn't stop you from impacting other people's lives.
