[ Oh! Oh! Angela knows this one! She's actually lived on Earth for some time and has heard the things they call each other. ]

A boyfriend is a lover, while a boy friend is a boy who is a friend, without any romantic implications. The same applies to girlfriend/girl friend. Though some Earth women do refer to their girl friends as girlfriends. That is where it gets truly confusing.

So a girl who is a friend can be both? And yet there is no way to distinguish the romantic context?

Earth women are truly confusing. One once referred to my beloved as my "gal pal," even when it was heavily implied that we had romantic feelings for one another.

I think the concept of same-sex romantic affection still baffles them, largely.

They are a most baffling people. Many of their customs are unfamiliar to me, and dangerous to navigate.

I have never needed to, before. And sadly I have lost those who would elucidate me on these matters.

This place is not dissimilar, in many ways. Though it also has its own customs and traditions.

It still resembles Midgard a great deal. Many of the residents are from worlds similar or hail from alternate versions of that particular realm.

Then perhaps this is the perfect place to learn the intricacies of Earth traditions.

I only wish my girlfriend were here to help me navigate. She was always skilled at this sort of thing.

When last we spoke, I did not. Or rather, that version of me had never met her.

Sera is brilliant. She is a magician, like you, and smart as any scholar. She always seems to know more than she ought. And she is funny, and kind. I never again wish to live my life without her in it.
