Certainly we have courtships and the like. But we did not have several different terms for every layer of interaction.

But I've never been a fan of labels, so maybe I'm biased.

There's like, three levels?

You've got your booty calls and one night stands that are just about sex. Friends with benefits is people you give a shit about and like fucking but aren't into romantically or whatever. And then there's dating and all that shit which is all the romantic stuff.
