001. video. un: stonerwolf
[At first when the video feed clicks on it shows a ceiling but then with the noise of someone knocking things around the camera angle swings wide and downwards, revealing a mop of shaggy hair and then a kind face with blue eyes and the kind of stubble that speaks laziness rather than style, grinning widely enough to show off some perfectly white teeth.] Well hey there... city? I mean I guess I'm talkin' to all y'all at the same time.
[The feed moves as Drew stands, taking his phone device with him.] This thing is a hell of a lot fancier than my cell at home I mean look, 'm basically in HD. [Cue a moment of preening after that particular Texan drawl, the bartender looking at himself for a minute, satisfied with the results.] But uh yeah, guess I'm kinda gettin' off track here. The names Andrew Warner, but my friends call me Drew... so basically all of y'all can call me Drew 'cause we're all gonna be friends, right? [There's a look of glowing optimism in his face because Drew didn't exactly make enemies to begin with.]
Guess life here is kinda like life home, I mean with the basics at least, I'm gonna be tendin' a bar here, so I hope at least some of you like to drink. [He nods at that, as if to himself, it was basically home sweet home... just with some glaring differences that he wasn't going to get into right now because they worried him.]
Thought I'd introduce myself at least... but one last thing. [He grins, eyes suddenly glowing a supernatural blue, the focus of the camera changing momentarily.] Any other werewolves out there? Guess I'm kinda in the business for an alpha.

[He isn't sure if Magnus is going to think the flirting is funny or zap Drew since most beings back off when they realize who Alec's dating. Either way things are going to be interesting whenever Alec visits.]
Most of my family ended up here. We're still trying to figure out how since we weren't all in the same place. No one else from your world is here?
Our world has laws that supernatural beings are supposed to follow and there's politics. [He can't quite stop himself from grimacing over that. He's still angry over the Clave's decisions regarding the Seelie and the power struggles between the vampires and werewolves.]
Different groups seem to think that arguing for hours is a good way to prove their authority instead of actually trying to solve problems. That isn't a problem with the werewolves and vampires you know?

Wait really? That's pretty wild... an' uh, no-one I know at least? If ya hear someone talkin' 'bout the SRM y'can send 'em my way at least. Seems like not everywhere has one.
[Drew nods though.] We got 'em too, well... we got laws that the humans have to follow. [Because Supernaturals kinda got the better deal at the end of the day.]
Nah that don't exactly sound like home. Ain't a lotta power struggles. 'Specially when y'think 'bout the fact that a lotta our guys have t'get elected first. Then they gotta take a vote...

[After years of people complaining about Alec being too blunt his personality really isn't something he thinks would interest most beings.
There won't be a restraining order but there may be a Drew shaped hat rack decorating the bar eventually...]
What's the SRM?
[The term confuses him almost as much as the idea of the humans having to follow laws other than their own.]
The Downworlders are in control of the government there?

The Supernatural Rights Movement? Gettin' the idea its pretty specific to where I'm from. Y'know, supernatural creatures comin' outta the closet, gettin' rights, threatenin' the human governments... peace treaties, that kinda thing? [He hums thoughtfully.] I mean they're in control of some of the government? They got a whole equal opportunities thing goin' on.

I think it is. We have the Accords but only the people who know about the supernatural know about them. Most Mundanes don't know that it's real. The Downworlders are trying to get equal rights with the Accords but it's not working as well as I hoped.
How did the Mundanes react to knowing that what they thought was legends were true?
no subject
Wait so your downworlders, right? They're your supernatural types. And the Accords are your laws, huh? [He was frowning ever so slightly as he thought about it.] But the hell is a mundane?
[He laughs.] Wasn't much they could do. The first ones on the scene were the witches. No-one ever wants to fuck with the damn witches.
no subject
Yeah. They're the ones that are somehow touched by the supernatural. Vampires. Werewolves. Seelie. [He isn't sure if Drew has seen Magnus without his glamour so he leaves warlocks out of the discussion.] Mundanes are humans that don't have a connection to the supernatural.
Witches are usually Mundanes trying to practice magic but it either doesn't work or ends horribly. Is witch a type of supernatural or more specific than that?
no subject
Okay... mundane, I get it. Means normal or somethin' like that, right? [He was following at least, until they got to the part about witches.] Well witches back home are definitely somethin' difference. They're technically human but they run on somethin' else, didn't always understand magic an' not everyone can pick it up. They say they got a direct line to some kinda deities an' y'should see the kinda things they can do.
no subject
Basically, normal except that's relative. If you grow up in the Shadow World then you don't always understand being a Mundane. [But Alec had lived that way for a few months and hadn't minded it. He missed the friends he'd been making in New York but not the politics and demons.] Similar to magic in my world.
I've seen some intense magic so I'd probably believe it. [Drew might see it at the bar depending on how rowdy things get when Magnus is around.]
no subject
He shrugs.] I guess. I mean I didn't always know everythin' 'bout the Supernatural. I'm actually from a totally human family, got interested in the history of the SRM an' actually went to community college to study Supernatural Relations. [There's an edge to his voice that says there's a story there somewhere, his usual bountiful optimism waning slightly.]
Hell yeah me too man, ain't ever gonna be on the wrong side of a witch. Been on the right side of a few which is way more fun.
