[At first when the video feed clicks on it shows a ceiling but then with the noise of someone knocking things around the camera angle swings wide and downwards, revealing a mop of shaggy hair and then a kind face with blue eyes and the kind of stubble that speaks laziness rather than style, grinning widely enough to show off some perfectly white teeth.] Well hey there... city? I mean I guess I'm talkin' to all y'all at the same time.

[The feed moves as Drew stands, taking his phone device with him.] This thing is a hell of a lot fancier than my cell at home I mean look, 'm basically in HD. [Cue a moment of preening after that particular Texan drawl, the bartender looking at himself for a minute, satisfied with the results.] But uh yeah, guess I'm kinda gettin' off track here. The names Andrew Warner, but my friends call me Drew... so basically all of y'all can call me Drew 'cause we're all gonna be friends, right? [There's a look of glowing optimism in his face because Drew didn't exactly make enemies to begin with.]

Guess life here is kinda like life home, I mean with the basics at least, I'm gonna be tendin' a bar here, so I hope at least some of you like to drink. [He nods at that, as if to himself, it was basically home sweet home... just with some glaring differences that he wasn't going to get into right now because they worried him.]

Thought I'd introduce myself at least... but one last thing. [He grins, eyes suddenly glowing a supernatural blue, the focus of the camera changing momentarily.] Any other werewolves out there? Guess I'm kinda in the business for an alpha.

Fascinating. [ no, it really isn't, but hey. ] What are werewolves like where you're from? Do you absolutely need an alpha?

[ sorry, drew, peter's just going to grill you on the subject until he's satisfied. ]

Actual wolves? On the full moon, I assume. Or is it an at will deal? The stories vary, you see. There's always a difference or two depending on who you ask or what you read.

Actual wolves, sure, an' whenever I wanna. Ain't strictly got to do with the moon. [He hums thoughtfully.] But uh, I gotta ask... do y'know anythin' 'bout werewolves like.. for real? [Because for all he knows he's talking to a hunter.]

And we have them where I'm from. They don't usually make a habit of announcing what they are to the whole world, though.

Really? That's great! But uh, back home a lotta wolves do announce their shit. Thanks to the Supernatural Rights Movement at least. Guess y'could say I'm a huge fan of comin' out.

A Supernatural Rights Movement? [ what the, why don't they have that ] I suppose it's a difference in worlds. Nothing like that's happened back home, and humans are relatively in the dark about the supernatural.

[Drew was about to start talking when the private video feed clicked on and Drew was simultaneously interested by the message and by the man.] Well shit dude, usually the guys who stick to just their voice don't end up lookin' so hot! [Because this was Drew and those were the things he said out loud.] I figured you'd be like a bad grindr hook up! [He grins, shifting around on his bed so he could be more comfortable.] Aren't ya gonna flash your eyes at me?

[ the flattery's spontaneous and sincere enough that peter grants it a small smile. this one wears his heart on his sleeve, doesn't he? that could be good or bad. (he'll go with good for now, because it makes drew easy to read and understand.) ]

I'm a private man. [ hence this entire dodgy conversation so far. ] And sure, I will. Provided you don't go telling everyone what I am. Old habits die hard, you see.

[ insert joke here about drew asking him to sniff his butt. ]

[Drew laughs at that one, because he'd known a lot of private men over the years.] Sure man, whatever y'want. I know all about discretion. [There's even a certain accent on the word as if he finds the whole thing very amusing.] Your secrets safe with me, not my job to go throwin' you outta the closet.

I appreciate it. [ formalities settled, peter obligingly lets his eyes shine electric blue, turning his head to the side after a second so the glare doesn't wipe out the camera's view. they dim back down to blue when he asks: ] There. Satisfied?

Hell of a lot less intimate than sniffin' your butt, huh? [Drew grins widely and optimistically, a glint of amusement in his eyes.] An' hey we're both blue, we just gotta be friends, huh?

We're werewolves, not actual wolves. [ please, drew. ] Does the colour mean anything in particular where you're from?

Hey well I can turn into an actual wolf! An' the things I do with real butts on werewolves is totally different so y'probably shouldn't ask for the details. [Drew shut up, go sit in a cave until you can be a member of society.] Uh.. it means I've got blue eyes? [What the shit Peter only one of you here is a homicidal maniac.]

Let's just pretend I never heard that, and you can pretend you never said it. [ deal? deal. and look, okay, he's just curious and wants to know things. ]

Speaking of which, I don't believe I've introduced myself yet. Peter Hale. From what I can tell, we're the only two werewolves here, though there are plenty of other supernatural around.

Uhh I guess? [Drew is just gonna meet that with awkward laughter because, yeah.]

Peter! Well Peter I guess you saw my introduction so yeah, I'm Drew. [Drew seems genuinely shocked.] Just two fuckin' werewolves I mean hot damn. There are more than that in my apartment building alone.

Maybe there are more hiding in the woodwork. I haven't been here for all that long— just a little over a month.

[ but it seems unlikely; peter has a good nose on him, and he hasn't run into any other werewolves yet. ]

You might be in for a long wait for an alpha to come along.

Well yeah, considerin' I'm learnin' pretty quickly that no-one's as open 'bout these things as I am.

[He sighs but it was fine, really, ish, maybe.] I might... don't y'feel kinda weird? Not havin' one?

You get used to it. The alpha situation back home was a little— unstable.

Tell me about it... my boyf- [He cuts himself off, Engel wasn't your boyfriend damn it Drew.] - this guy I know, he became an alpha recently. It... it was pretty fuckin' hard for me man.

[ yeah, that wasn't a smooth catch, but peter won't call drew on it. he'll just file it away for further exclusively, to come back to. ]

Well, it's like that, isn't it? Sudden shift in responsibilities, people taking notice when they didn't previously— change always has its ripples.

Are you nervous around him now that he's an alpha?

It sucks. Was so fuckin' easy before all this. [There's strain evident in his voice when he says it, for the first time.] Nervous? [He shakes his head a little.] I'm mad... sad... confused, not nervous.

You didn't expect him to become an alpha.

[ hmmm. ]

Never in a million years, the same guy didn't even have a fuckin' pack. [God it was so stressful for Drew that coming here was almost a relief.]
