[Keith frowned a bit, but decided to leave it at that.]

What do you mean by 'normal'?

[Hair color aside, because Keith had seen some weird ones between dye and alien races, he was curious what the standard for that was around here.]

I don't have any magic, or know how to fight because there isn't anything like that where I'm from. I dunno, this is just how everyone is.

You don't have any fighting back home?

[That's what it sounded like.]

Not... where I am. There are wars in other countries but Canada is pretty safe. I mean I guess there's some gang stuff and people get stabbed or shot. But it's never been where I live.

*Lola is too pure to think of fighting people and monsters. Also monsters aren't real.*

I guess you're from one of those places where fighting does happen. Is there a lot of it?

Kind of? I mean, I guess we're in the same spot as you, technically. I'm from Nevada.

But, I was in the Galaxy Garrison, and I ended up part of a team that's fighting against an evil Galactic empire? So... yeah. We kind of fight a lot now. But, hopefully, it hasn't gotten to Earth, yet. We're trying to prevent that from happening.

Yeah, none of that would happen on my Earth. We don't have a Galaxy Garrison, or evil galactic empires to fight. And I'm pretty sure there's nothing in Nevada that's really worth talking about.

*What, there isn't!*

I think that's one of the reasons they put it there.

[No one went out there. It was a good place to keep things out of the public eye that needed to be.]

Though, I'm not exactly sure just how much our Garrison knows about evil galactic empires. That sort of happened separately. We found an ancient alien craft on Earth, and it activated, which drew the attention of the alien empire, but we managed to use the craft to lead them away.

It's a little hard to believe, I wouldn't if I wasn't here. On a moon.

*Eye opening experience, being on a moon.*

Wait- Lead away? As in... off Earth?

Technically, the ship never actually made it to Earth. It showed up on long range sensors, so we went out to meet it and then lead it away, all the way out past Pluto.

[Yup. Off Earth. Waaaaay off Earth.]

I still don't get why Pluto isn't a planet anymore.

I'm glad you lead them off Earth, but it has to be a bit weird being out far from home, fighting a war... or whatever.

It's actually kind of complicated.

[He had to learn about it in the Garrison. He could tell her. If she really wanted to know. But he hated that lesson for somewhat personal reasons, so he avoided the details.]

It is. Like, there really isn't much that's familiar. No familiar constellations. The food's weird. I haven't seen another human other than my team since we left. All the planets are different, too... weird colors in the sky, and strange plants.

It's been really cool, but... yeah. Really weird, at the same time.

[Weird was one way of putting it. As much as Keith didn't have much tying him down back on Earth as far as family or a life, that didn't mean he didn't miss it.]

That's why I don't understand it.

*Lola can definitely see how all of that might wear on someone. She thinks that skies of different colors are cool. But that wouldn't change missing home, not to her anyway.*

Well, I can try to find real Earth ingredients but that's always a bit of a hunt to do. And make something a little closer to home. I'm really good at Mexican food.

Mexican, huh? Well, we get a lot of that where I'm from. Consider me curious.

[Familiar food would be... awesome. Keith was beginning to understand Hunk's point about that.]

I can do other stuff like burgers, pasta, and a few other dishes I learned here or there. But I have a lot more experience with Mexican food.

I mean, if I can't find the right ingredients I know what local foods make for the best taste. Just... don't be weird if any of the ingredients are purple or glowy.

After having been eating mostly lime green food goo, purple and glowy doesn't sound all that terrible.
