_{[ Despite being relatively quiet on the network, Karamatsu has been keeping up to date with what has been happening in Riverview. Well, what was important to him, anyway, and what was important to him was the fact there was going to be a masquerade this week. Going to bed every night and knowing there are people out there who don't have perfect fashion for this sort of thing was making him feel determined, and dare I even say.. proactive.

Unfortunately, when Karamatsu becomes inspired, it's usually pretty bad.
Today, he's dressed in this and seems awfully proud of it.

He strikes a pose, spreading the wings out to show off all of the colors with an exclamation of "bang!" which is nothing like the sound a bird should make (was he bird or just being extra??? we just don't know.) Then, he relaxes, cupping his chin with one hand. ]}

Heheh. It seems there's going to be a party on Saturday. If you want to look as perfect as me, I will be happy to help and tailor you an outfit if you do not have one. Please, no payment is necessary. Take it as kindness from my own heart, as I do not want anybody to have an insufficient costume for such an event.

[ Aoba makes a small awed sound, letting the implications of that statement sink in before murmuring aloud: ]

Ichimatsu... it's kind of a sad pun when you think about it. If I had such a large and boisterous family as I imagine Karamatsu-kun's to be, I would think being down to one brother would be kinda... lonely.

[ Ah, that might have been the wrong thing to say, so he quickly adds: ]

Ah! I mean - that is to say - 'The Eluvio'... I've never heard of it.

Is that a place from your reality?

_{[It's very lonely. He hates it, but he doesn't show it all on his face. It's kind of.. off how he can do this so easily.]}

[ It's so unbelievable that Aoba is slow to reply. He... thinks it might be an exaggeration, but Karamatsu has become suddenly so deadpan, it makes him feel tense. ]

You mean to say the Eluvio is the name of some kind of space ship?

Is this really something that happened to you?

[ Please don't be pulling his leg or saying something overblown again, he's actually a little excited about this topic! ]

Tell me something, Aoba-kun..
Does it look like I would lie about something like that? Are you not trusting my honesty?
_{[He's posing while saying this? Stop all of this.]}

It is true! I went to space.. and I survived. It is very cool, hah? Aren't you impressed by my space adventure?

[ Aoba, inside voice. He just started like several people around him with that uncharacteristic outburst just now, complete with hands slamming on the table as he leans over it, exclaiming in disbelief and envy. ]

You mean to tell me you were really in space?! That's really incredible?! How can you just play it off like it's no big deal?

[ As much as he tries to play it cool and be the mature adult between them, he's making quite a scene, reacting in almost childish jealousy over the fact that yet another person exists in quarantine that has come from outer space. This is seriously... so cool, like something out of a movie or a video game. ]

Are you actually an alien too? [ Aoba, chill. ]

The kind of love that I offer is that of a another world.. I suppose you could consider my an alien within the stony hearts of those who are unloved! My goal is to make somebody feel so loved, it doesn't seem like it is from Earth!

[ Aoba's expression freezes, then drops. He must be pulling his leg, how can he take him seriously after such a weird statement? CLEARLY THIS IS A JOKE. He puffs out his cheeks in annoyance and slumps down in his chair, pouting. His tone is far too whiny for his age. ]

Kara-kun... you really had me going there. I had my hopes up and everything.

[ He sounds so demoralized... ]

Your hopes up for what? An unearthly kind of love?

[ He's ignoring this. All of it. He's in full-on sulk mode, trying like hell to strike home the fact he's not having what Kara's selling. ]

I was so excited because I recently met a real alien... I thought it might be cool to meet one that didn't look like a lizard made of sheet rock.

[ He frowns, then decides to change the subject with a forced smile and a light, saccharine sweet voice that he reserves for difficult customers back home. ]

Okay, so now you need to tell me something truthful about the Eluvio, then I'll consider us even. ☆

Something.. truthful about Eluvio?
_{[ Karamatsu's smile dies down significantly. Something truthful. They were brought there without explanation and no ways of escape? Their first mission triggered a nuclear holocaust, destroying an entire planet? Or maybe he should talk about the power outages-- the creature that found its way on the ship? Maybe the way he found a passenger's viscera strung across the trees and branches of the atrium like a party streamer? Maybe.. he could talk about how he still has the gun with him that took somebody's life so he could survive.

He dazes out slightly. ]}

A-ah.. well.. truthfully--
_{[ He forces a smile and rubs the back of his neck. ]}

There were a lot of parties and things to do as recreational activities on the ship when we were not working.. hah. I got my first lap dance there!
_{[ IT'S TRUE. ]}

[ For a moment there, he watches that practiced, scripted confidence shaken off his face, his smile faltering and he wonders what caused it. Clearly it's the topic, but he's not sure if he was just too harsh in calling him out on fibbing or if he's being too intrusive with the questions. He feels a little tug of sympathy and is about to relieve him from explaining himself when he starts talking and Aoba shuts his mouth. ]

Parties and... [ Ah, so it's not too different from Quarantine then? Like some kind of space... Cruise liner? But then Karamatsu keeps talking and color immediately blooms on Aoba's pale skin. ]

...!!

Y-you don't have to be that honest... you can leave some of that personal stuff out.

[ Aoba's certainly not one to judge fooling around or enjoying oneself however you want... but he just got this intrusive mental image of Karamatsu posing in that Extra way he does while someone gives him a lap dance. His eyes... will he have that image burned in them forever? ]

_{[ That's exactly how it went down, too. One of his best friends on the Eluvio managed the strip club. He got a lot discounts on everything. Everything. He puts on another grin for Aoba and than snaps one of his fingers. ]}

Tch. Going to space though.. it was a .. piece of cake! There is a lot of other things I would prefer to talk about.

Was it...? [ More and more, it seems like there are people he encounters that have gone through way cooler experiences in their reality, have powers he's only seen in video games. And now, the most painful man he knows has apparently been in space. Aoba plants his chin on his hand and pouts. ]

I've never been in space, not even once.

I think it'd be nice to try it... I bet it's peaceful up there among the stars.

[ Just... maybe not so peaceful on murderships... not that Aoba has more than a vague clue. ]
