[ There's a clearing of a throat, followed soon by a low voice, calm and steady in its nature. He's well practiced in his speech, as if he's had to make an introduction like this about a thousand times, and with his career choice, he has. ]
Hello there. My name is Matt Murdock, and while I am a new resident here, I work in the offices of Bülent & Feige. In my — [ He pauses for a brief moment. ] — previous home, I ran my own law firm at Nelson & Murdock, so I guarantee that I have the study and experience of being a well-practiced defense attorney. So if you're in a tough legal position, and you need assistance under the law, I can provide that support for you.
[ His voice remains soft as he finishes: ]
Now, there's a reason I didn't put the video on this, but ... [ He briefly switches the setting to video, a dark haired man now in view of the screen, round glasses over his eyes as he offers a warm smile. ] While I won't be able to identify you for — [ He gestures to his eyes, waving his fingers. ] Obvious reasons. If you need to find me for professional guidance, please don't hesitate.

[She pauses and thinks it over in her head.]
I also wonder about some laws. They don't always protect everyone.

[ But she isn't wrong. And he knows it — it's what he's battled with since he first put on a mask, finding that balance between what was justified within the law, and what needed to be done to protect his city. ]
Maybe not always. But it's a start. Especially if you get a good lawyer.

[She's been working outside of the law for so long that it feels weird.]
I don't know a lot about law, I've never needed to but it'd be interesting to learn what the law here is. I found out that you can drink at the age of 14. I don't know if I'd agree with that but it's hard to say.

I had my first drink when I was nine. Can't say I was too interested in the idea that young.

That's fairly young. I think I had a sip of wine when I was ten but I didn't like it until I was older.

My dad gave me a drink of scotch so I can keep my hands steady as I stitched up his injuries. Hated it then.

[She laughs softly.]
Maybe that's the trick to get kids not to go crazy when they hit 21. Let them try it when they're young and still think it's gross.

Well, we can see how well that worked out. Still manage to go hit a good bar when the occasional urge kicks in.

[Kate has a weird relationship with bars.]
I actually work at a bar now. Even though I don't drink a lot.
[She likes the atmosphere. It's fun.]

the stench of the stools and the alcohol seeped in the grains of the wooden tables. It always felt like home; he misses it. ]
How'd you get interested in it?

[She smiles a bit before continuing.]
You met all sorts of people at a bar. People coming and going. I like hearing their stories. [There are other reasons but it's complicated and not the sort of thing you share with someone that you've just met.]

That's true. A lot of the most interesting clients I've had came stumbling from a bar stool. [ He and Foggy really had defended most of the regulars at Josie's bar, each with their own story to tell. ] Are you the kind of bartender who offers vague but useful advice to customers for a tip?

[She laughs softly.]
I admit, I do like helping people. I think the hardest thing is just to keep hope alive, so I try and do that.
