[ The video feed opens with one Hana Song looking absolutely pleased with herself and decked-out in her signature plugsuit. With an undeniable, confident smirk on her face, she declares: ]

D.Va online! Finally.

First of all, shout-out to the guy from the Perimeter Guard who personally delivered the best present a girl could ever ask for—

[ Hana stretches her arm out, offering the feed an extended view of what's behind her: a large pink mech, whirring and glowing with lights. Its apparently pilot beams at the camera and flashes a victory sign at the corner of the screen. ]

Ta-dah! Riverview Quarantine, let me introduce you to my state-of-the-art armored battle suit, a.k.a. a mech unit for the Mobile Exo-Force of the Korean Army, a.k.a. my MEKA unit! Someone out there must really like me, huh? You guys are not prepared for what you're gonna get to see coming up.

[ The screen then flips back to Hana, looking very contemplative. ]

But I'm in a bit of a pinch here. None of my engineers are around, obviously, and I know some basics, but this baby's going to need a lot of maintenance. [ it is high-maintenance like its pilot ] I know there's a lot of new people coming in, and there's still a lot of you guys who've been here a while. Any chance any of you are mechanical geniuses who wanna help out? I'm looking only for the best of the best! Come down to the garage of communal housing if you wanna marvel at this beauty!

[ Does she mean herself? Or the mech? It is a mystery! ]

Oh, and one last thing? [ She seems to move for a little bit and then pans the camera so that a sign that reads: "MECH PARKING ONLY" is visible over her shoulder. ] This parking spot? Mine. If anyone parks in my spot my mech and I are stepping on your vehicle. That's all! Love, D.Va!

[ This? This is the face of someone who is absolutely soaking up that amazed look and is so, so ready to show off. ]

Someone absolutely likes me out there. Now hurry up and come down so you can see it for yourself!

I'll be right there.

[It was only a few minutes later that Shiro made it down to the garage. He does slow down to admire it as he walks in, slowly coming over]

Very nice.

[ She had been sitting on one of the mech's arms— so, sitting on one of the fusion cannons, basically— inspecting the windshield over the cockpit when Shiro arrived, and at his reaction, she looked over and chuckled a little, raising a brow. ]

You could get, like, a little more excited, you know. You're getting an exclusive, up-close look.

[He chuckled at her comment as he walked over]

Okay then. It's absolutely the best mech I've seen from your world.

[Sorry, robot lions will be the best for him because he's biased and he expects her to be biased about her mech compared to others.

By now, he was right next to the mech]

An exclusive look? Can't turn that down.

[ She narrowed her eyes at him, not entirely satisfied with his response, but she knew she would say the exact same thing if the roles had been reversed. She didn't know what Shiro's Black Lion would be like, but her own pink bunny would always be her #1. So her initially skeptical look faded off to something more excited, excited that her mech was here and that she could show it off. ]

Good. Let me give you a tour! [ She gestured down to the cannon arm she was sitting on. ] This right here is a fusion cannon. Short to mid-range, no need for reloading 'cause it runs off energy. [ Then she pointed down to the two joysticks mounted on two shorter arms, protruding from the cockpit. ] And those are my controls. Everything about how the mech moves and shoots I control with those joysticks.

[Shiro leaned in to look at the fusion cannon a little closer when she pointed it, not standing in front of it because that was dangerous. He turned to look at the joysticks when she pointed them out, giving a low whistle in response]

Impressive. Not having to reload is a great advantage. Why is it called a fusion cannon? Is it how the charge is created? And it operates only with joysticks?

[Cue all of the questions]

[ She folded her arms as he commented on what she'd said, nodding along and letting him ask all of his questions. Seeing that he was so curious and interested in her mech was nice, because Hana would take any opportunity to brag about her baby and, by extension, her skills as a pilot. ]

Yup! She's got a fusion core and the ammo's plasma. Super high tech, state-of-the-art stuff from our best engineers! Most movement and targeting and firing happens through the joysticks, but this thing's also got a computer, basically, so there's other controls for that.

[ She slipped off of her perch, then, landing on the concrete below with a little hop and then she circled around to the side of the mech, gesturing for Shiro to follow her and pointing up to the boosters. ]

Those are boosters. I can accelerate and go airborne with them.

Amazing! Very state of the art. The world I'm from doesn't have weapons like that.

[Other alien planets? Maybe but he doesn't really have the chance to ask questions.

Shiro followed after her when she gestured for him to continue the tour. He leans in to examine the mech when she was pointing out the boosters]

Very nice. Are the boosters unlimited power as well or is there some sort of power cell for them?

But you guys have robot lions and Voltron, so.

[ That about balanced it out, she thought. She let him look at the boosters a little closer first, continuing, ]

They have a bit of a time frame, so I prefer to use them in bursts and hop around, kinda like a bunny.

[ Since they were near the back of it, too, she pointed to the open hatch. ]

That's basically the cockpit. I can hop in and get suited up pretty easily. In the event that the mech is destroyed, or I activate a self-destruct sequence, it can eject me, too, but otherwise I just power it down and slip out.

That's true. But we also didn't make them. The Alteans did.

[Nit picking there...

But he did look closer at the boosters, nodding in response to the comment. And of course as she pointed out the cockpit hatch, he crouched down so that he could look for himself, more just looking through the hatch. He knows the rules not to touch someone else's machine]

Wow... very nice. You have one heck of a machine here. I'm impressed.

[ Her smile went crooked at his compliments, naturally thinking them well-deserved. The cockpit of the mech was tiny, on account of the fact that the mech itself was probably at the lowest limit of what could be considered a mech, but Hana was a tiny person. Shiro probably wouldn't fit in there. Still, she knew how to be courteous, so— ]

Thanks, Shiro. I'm really glad my mech made it here. Maybe yours will show up sometime, too, then we can kick butt together!

[ There was a beat before she added, ] Who are the Alteans? Aliens?

[Of course they were well deserved. This was an amazing mech and Shiro thought she needed to know that from someone who had been piloting crafts all of his working life.

Whether he could have fit in the cockpit or not, he wasn't even going to try. It was hers and he knew the dangers of pushing random buttons without knowing what they did. After all they had ended up stuck inside an alien warship aka the blue lion with no idea what it was capable of]

Of course. If Black shows up, I'll give you the tour as well. Wouldn't that be one heck of a patrol for the Perimeter Guard? A lion and a bunny.

Yeah, they are an alien race who created the lions. Well, almost were. There are only two left now. Princess Allura is the one who pilots the castle.

[ She chuckled at the thought of a lion and a bunny on a patrol together; it almost sounded like a cartoon buddy cop comedy, or something. ]

It would be, wouldn't it? That settles it, then – when you get your lion, we're gonna go on some patrols together.

[ And, probably, race their mechs, because Hana always turned things into a competition. What she didn't know, though, is that would be one competition against Shiro she would definitely lose at.

What he said next, though, was a bit more loaded and Hana had to narrow her eyes at him, lips drawing into a thin line. ]

Wait— how come there's only two left? And how did you guys end up with alien lion mechs?

Definitely. We'll have to take them out together. A good way to go exploring.

[Yes, she would most definitely lose any sort of race against the lions of Voltron.

And now... story time]

So what we found out is that our enemy Zarkon was responsible for the destruction of Altean home world. Allura's father King Alfor saved her and one of his advisors Coran and sent them off in the Castle of Lions in cryogenic sleep so they didn't age.

We got the lions because someone apparently hid the Blue Lion on Earth to keep it away from Zarkon. We stumbled upon it and Blue chose Lance as her Paladin. At this point, Blue ended up taking us through a worm hole to the planet where the Castle of Lions was hidden.

Our arrival woke up Allura and Coran. Then each of us had a lion that chose us, which Hunk, Pidge, and Keith had to go find and bring back to the Castle because Black wouldn't awaken until the other four were inside the Castle.

[ That

was a lot to take in at once. Her eyes widen in undisguised amazement at his story, words of worlds she's never known and probably will never know, and— lions. She supposed there really was such a thing as destiny, after all, if those sorts of things happened to them. It all sounded so vastly different from anything Hana would ever experience at home and it filled her with a sense of awe. At length, her surprised expression gave way to something softer, with a smile. ]

That's amazing! I never would've thought that there would be so much going on out there. Where I'm from, we've only really made it to the moon... and I never would have been able to go out into space like you did.

[ Not with a war ravaging her home, she couldn't. ]

Still, though... I'm kinda jealous! Robots that think for themselves, where I'm from... that's not good. But the lions sound incredible.

We've only recently started going further than that. We had gotten as far as Pluto...

[He paused a moment at that, seemingly a little uncomfortable with that thought. Well, of course, it reminded him everything that had happened, but he avoided it]

The lions though have an incredible range they can travel, even away from the castle. There doesn't seem to be a limit to their power except when they get knocked out.

On Earth, robots thinking for themselves would be bad too. But the lions thinking for themselves has helped us. Red has saved us several times because she wanted to protect Keith.

[ She remembered Shiro telling her that Pluto was where everything had changed, or seemed like it, back when they first met. He didn't seem like he was ready to talk about it then, and he certainly didn't seem ready to talk about it now, either. So when Shiro avoided it, she commented on something more lighthearted about what Shiro said instead. ]

So the Red Lion is what, like a protective mama cat or something?

[ She had to chuckle at that. ]

Yeah, seems to be. Red is the most particular about Paladins but bonds hard with them when they gain the lion's trust. We were on an alien ship and they were essentially testing Keith and wouldn't allow me to help him or even call it off so he kept pushing himself. Finally Red decided enough was enough and started trying to tear into their base without someone piloting.

[ Her eyes go wide at that story. ]

Holy crap, that's intense. I can call my mech to my location kinda in the same way, but I don't know that it would try and tear into a base like that!

[ She had to laugh. ]

Yeah... Red is an interesting lion. Allura said that lion's the most temperamental and difficult to master, but once a Paladin bonds with Red, Red will apparently be loyal beyond what we thought they were capable of.

[And now back to hear mech]

So you can call this one?

Yeah.

[ She lifted her left hand and pointed to her wrist. ]

I have something there that let's me call it to my location. So it's got a tracker, then the mech engaged autopilot to get to me. I haven't really tried it out here, though. I'll probably have to download maps of the Quarantine or something.

Huh... interesting. We don't really have that. However Allura was able to lock onto the lions' locations so I guess that is as good a tracking device as we have.

[He nodded]

Probably a good idea to download maps so it doesn't fly through a building.

[ She had to chuckle at the image of her mech flying through an ill-fated window or something. It sounded like something out of a cartoon. ]

Kinda feels like it'd be funnier if I didn't, but yeah, I should! I guess I can't get away with as much here since I'm not all that famous. [ Yet. ]

Well, probably funnier for the bystander than the one who had the mech fly through their building. And unfortunately your mech is a little obvious that they would know whose had done it.

[ She grinned wide, trying not to laugh again. Why is the thought of property damage so hilarious to her? Who knows. ]

Yeah, well, being subtle and sneaky isn't really my style. I'd rather be watched by everyone!
