Draco looks a bit uncomfortable but puts on a good front, smiling. The camera isn't all that steady as he holds it at first. He's not used to this.]

Hello populace of Riverview. I am Draco Malfoy and I have recently accepted the position of Community Ambassador. As such I wanted to greet all fo you, and was informed this was the best way to do so.

[Time to make yourself seem more approachable now, Draco...]

Forgive me if this isn't the best use of this means of communication, I am still learning. I will look to you all for guidance in the coming days as I learn about our city. It is my goal to help all new arrivals as well as everyone in residence currently. I want to see our economy grow and our new home prosper.

Please, do not hesitate to introduce yourself to me. Also, please come to me with any concerns or issues you may have. I will endeavor to try and help you either myself, or at least get you in contact with those who can. I look forward to working with you all.

[Another smile appeared on his lips, seemingly genuine. And really, it is. More genuine than the first as he gained more confidance as he spoke. Easily falling into the role of a public speaker. It wasn't all that different from the way he'd been educated in and the circles he had run in before. It also helped that no one here knew him and his past.]

No need to apologize. In this kind of situation one can hardly live on first impressions alone. We are all out of our element here, I think.

As for the topic of a Watcher... It sounds to me they are like a mentor. A good thing to have, I think, in any universe.

[ Out of her element. Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. Really, she only ever feels in her element when she's strolling through graveyards, and maybe sometimes out on the training floor with the girls. The rest of the time, she really is just faking it to make it. ]

Yeah, it is. And that's definitely what he was for me. I mean, it was his job to look after me, that's what Watchers do for their Slayers, but he kinda went beyond normal book duty.

[ She pauses, thinks over what she just said, then her eyes go wide again. ] Oh, right! I didn't mention. Retired vampire slayer here. Hello. [ There's even a little wave to the camera. ]

[Well, she was certainly animated. A very talkative Gryffindor then.]

Ah. Not many of your kind in my universe at all, I'm afraid hunters, or slayers, would have made the tentative treaty with the vampires rather strained. Hopefully you find life more peaceful here in Riverview?

Treaty?! [ That's something she can't imagine ever happening. Angel and Spike were the ugly ducks in the vampire pond with their wanting to not destroy the world or trying to eat every human in sight. A treaty would mean negotiation and having to meet with officials and paperwork. Oh, the dreaded paperwork. ]

Things are definitely more peaceful for me; I'm not sure about the people who work the Perimeter Guard though. But I am sticking firmly with my retirement gig and working with girls at one of the Community Centers.

[ Sticking firmly to retirement. Firmly. There is no longing for the good old days of chasing demons until the crack of dawn. Nope. ]

Yes, a treaty. Hard woman, but as many activists for the rights of Magical Beings have said, it was a step forward.

A noble cause. I assume you are teaching self defense, given your background?

[ Activists for the rights of Magical Beings. Including vampires. It's enough to make her head spin, so she tries not to think about it too much and concentrates on the rest of the conversation, which makes a whole lot more sense. ]

Yep, I'm a mentor and self-defense instructor at the Central Center. It's not my first time teaching this stuff to young girls, but somehow it seemed a lot easier when the goal was beheading a demon without getting too much goo on your shoes.

[Well, that is a little hard to respond to in a diplomatic way, or so Draco thinks. But then talk of killing demons was not a usual topic for him. At all.]

I see. I'm not sure I can really understand that, but I am sure your students appreciate your lessons nonetheless.

Thanks. I try to make it a worthwhile experience for them.

[ It's not always easy, but when has anything about her life been easy? It's important, though, and so she'll continue to try and do her best at it. ]
