[The video feed starts and at first you see a wall, then the camera moved until it is focused on Draco Malfoy. Hair combed into place and his appearance neat. Though out of the camera's view is a different story...

Draco looks a bit uncomfortable but puts on a good front, smiling. The camera isn't all that steady as he holds it at first. He's not used to this.]

Hello populace of Riverview. I am Draco Malfoy and I have recently accepted the position of Community Ambassador. As such I wanted to greet all fo you, and was informed this was the best way to do so.

[Time to make yourself seem more approachable now, Draco...]

Forgive me if this isn't the best use of this means of communication, I am still learning. I will look to you all for guidance in the coming days as I learn about our city. It is my goal to help all new arrivals as well as everyone in residence currently. I want to see our economy grow and our new home prosper.

Please, do not hesitate to introduce yourself to me. Also, please come to me with any concerns or issues you may have. I will endeavor to try and help you either myself, or at least get you in contact with those who can. I look forward to working with you all.

[Another smile appeared on his lips, seemingly genuine. And really, it is. More genuine than the first as he gained more confidance as he spoke. Easily falling into the role of a public speaker. It wasn't all that different from the way he'd been educated in and the circles he had run in before. It also helped that no one here knew him and his past.]

[ Bill does a double take at her phone. Because she swears she just heard this bloke say his name was Draco Malfoy. And when she rewinds the video to watch again... he definitely said it! He for sure said his name is Draco Malfoy. And he looks exactly how she'd expect Draco Malfoy to look.

Several things run through Bill's mind in quick succession.

1. Draco Malfoy is real.
2. The quarantine is full of people from alternate universes.
3. That means there's a universe out there where Draco Malfoy, and everyone else in the Harry Potter books, are real.
4. That means there could be other universes where other fictional characters are real.
5. That also means that there could be a universe where everything she knows is real, is fictional.

The last thought sort of breaks her brain a little bit, so much so that she doesn't realize she's pressed record to reply to Draco. When she finally notices the blinking red light signaling her camera recording, she sputters. ]

Oh--! Em... So what does a Community Ambassador do, exactly?

[ A Community Ambassador who's new to the city. Well, could be worse. At least he won't have any biases or bad blood with any of the current residents. Probably not, anyway. Hopefully.

Switching on her video, Buffy gives her usual bright and charming smile and means to have it match what she says, but instead what comes out is-- ]

You sound British. [ Oops. Eyes widening a bit, she backtracks quickly. ] Not that that's a bad thing! I love British people!

[ -_- Great first impression, Buff. She looks a bit sheepish as she finally gets to the point of her response to his message. ] Sorry. Hi, I'm Buffy. Welcome to the city.

[Someone replied! There is a brief moment of panic on Draco's end as he desperately tried to figure out what is going on, then gets the vieo to play. then sits a moment and thinks of a good rsponse. Plans his words out carefully. Then studies the controls on the device before taking a deep breath and then pressing record to reply.]

As Community Ambassador I will be doing a number of things. Among the many duties I will have and take on probably the most important will be in helping new arrivals find employment. I will also work toward gaining funding for any projects or services that are needed. I will also look into ways in which our government can help our economy grow.

I know that last bit is a little vague, but for now I cannot go into detail regarding it as I have much to do in order to learn about the unique needs of our community.

[Ok, less anxiety with this one, Draco pulls up the response and a laugh is surprised out of him. Well, that was a good way to ease some of the tension he felt. He hits record and a rather large and amused smile can be seen.]

[ Draco Malfoy is rather well spoken. Well, he is a posh boy. Eloquence suits him. ]

Are you helping people find jobs beyond the ones that the city assigned them?

[This one had good questions. Again, he thought out his best answer before responding.]

I will do my best to provide every opportunity. However, I can only do so much. It is, after all, in the hands of the individual. I can only lend a guiding hand in, hopefully, the right direction.

Spoken like a true Ambassador!

[ He's definitely putting more thought into this than she'd expect from a stereotypical book villain. Maybe that just goes to show that real people are more complex and deep than their fictitious representations. ]

[ Bill straightens and gives a mock salute. ]

Bill Potts. Part-time student, part-time mentor at the Eastern Riverview Community Centre.

[ Well, at least she was helpful. And he doesn't have any glasses to clean at her, so that's a point in his favor. ]

I grew up in California, but my Watcher was British. It's nice hearing that Britishy sound again.

[ It's not the same accent, but it's more similar than Spike's is. Spike is not being mentioned because she has no idea how to refer to him and so it's just better... not to. ]

[There is a slight uptick to his mouth as he posts another video response.]

Then there is a chance we will be able to meet in person, since I will be visiting the community centers. Please do stop me to say hello if you see me.

I am not sure I quite understand what you mean by Watcher, but if my 'accent' provides a bit of comfort than... well, that is good? Forgive me, I'm hoenstly not sure what to say in response to that. Thank you nonetheless, Ms. Buffy.

[ Of course he doesn't know what to say to that. Why would anyone say something like that to someone they've just met? Answer: They wouldn't. Get a grip, Buffy. ]

Sorry, I used to be better at this whole first impression thing. If it makes you feel better, most people don't understand me when they first meet me. It's kind of a thing. [ She even gives a little shrug because, yeah, she's used to it. ]

A Watcher is... kinda complicated actually. He helped train me, did research, offered advice, that sort of thing.

[It's been a bit of a process to work through everything that came with the transition from Wayward Pines to here, which has meant (for the most part) Izzy has ignored the network. She only vaguely paid attention to the setup that the quaint, and obviously backdated, town had before. Now, though, her family has found a home...all together and she's got a job...she's settling in, so why not now?

That might be the reason that the video feed catches her attention, and if it isn't she's not going to admit otherwise, obviously. Either way, the attractive blonde that appears after the shot of the wall gets her attention. She's not sure what convinces her to respond, but respond she does, pressing record--smiling in her usual confident way as the red light flickers to life.]

Congratulations, Mr. Community Ambassador. [The tone is both genuine, and with a note of tease--because the nickname.] I didn't even know that was a thing. So, we learn something new every day, hm?

[The natural confidence that she approaches people with can't quite help but come out, her friendly demeanor settling without a show of nerves. She's a bit luckier than Draco in that way. Izzy's ponytail is in place easily, just like her smile, the rune on her neck clearly visible in the video, mainly because she hasn't bothered to worry about them much.] I'm Isabelle Lightwood, I'm a forensic pathologist at the police station. And it's nice to 'meet' you. [Izzy lifts her hand to do a bit of a lazy version of airquotes--after all, they aren't meeting in the traditional way (in person)]

If you ask me this is as good a way as any to reach out. [She taks on with a wink. A show of support for a fellow (sort of) newbie here.]

[ Hmmm. A "community ambassador"? It wasn't a bad idea, in theory, but Natasha has a dismal view of government; putting no confidence and too much faith into institutions. She also didn't know they needed an ambassador— the creation of the position is points to tensions she's only felt the edges of, yet. So: she wants to get a measure of him. ]

[ Her voice is pleasant, Standard American, like the weather girl on a local station. ]

Were you in politics back home? Or was this just where the personality survey put you?

[ He seemed to get the hang of the public speaking thing as he went along. ]

[It is getting easier to use the device the more he responded to what was coming through to his little introduction. So when he sees the exotically beautiful woman smiling with such confidance he is able to respond equally as well in his estimation. Though the tattoo he spied gave him a slight pause before he hit record, not that it's noticeable in any way as he spoke.]

[The short, minimal information the woman gave caught Draco's attention. Interesting. When he responded there was only his smile, though, and pleasing tone.]

Hello, Ms. Natasha. It is a pleasure to meet you. I was, in a way. More trained for it, as my father had been in polotics and slated to follow largely in his shoes.This, however, will be taking a different approach than he had taken. A fact I am looking forward to as this position will provide a unique set of challenges I am looking forward to overcoming and meeting.

Also, yes. This was the job their survey ended with suggesting. One I felt confidant I could fulfill after taking time to deliberate on it. To be sure I could see a path for myself in it that would result in the benefit for all.

[The recording starts with Draco chuckling.]

No need to apologize. In this kind of situation one can hardly live on first impressions alone. We are all out of our element here, I think.

As for the topic of a Watcher... It sounds to me they are like a mentor. A good thing to have, I think, in any universe.

[ Looks slightly amused. ]

Your job sounds pointless.

[Draco gave a sigh. He had known this would happen. But here he goes, answering a question that had already been asked. He starts the recording with a smile.]

As I had stated earlier in another response, as a Community Ambassador I will be helping new arrivals procure jobs. As well as help gain funding for different projects and programs. With my main over-arching goal to help in promoting economical growth.

[ Out of her element. Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. Really, she only ever feels in her element when she's strolling through graveyards, and maybe sometimes out on the training floor with the girls. The rest of the time, she really is just faking it to make it. ]

Yeah, it is. And that's definitely what he was for me. I mean, it was his job to look after me, that's what Watchers do for their Slayers, but he kinda went beyond normal book duty.

[ She pauses, thinks over what she just said, then her eyes go wide again. ] Oh, right! I didn't mention. Retired vampire slayer here. Hello. [ There's even a little wave to the camera. ]

[Lovely. When the video starts Draco looks just as pleasant as before with a smile on his face. Remembering his lessons on etiquette and how to protray expressions and emotions he didn't necessarily feel. Shoving the annoyance he felt away. After all, Potter wasn't here and he was the only one really capable of getting under his skin.

As with anything, kind sir, it is all a matter of perspective. I find my position holds much importance. I, however, understand that not everyone can look at it as I do.
