[ Did Yuri literally go out and buy a burner phone just so he could make this post under the guise of anonymity? Yes, yes he did. Is he also a painfully predictable sixteen year old who thinks he's more clever about aforementioned anonymity than he actually is? Most definitely. Pretty much anyone who knows Yuri even slightly is going to see the hell through that username- but fuck it, right? This is a god damn important question. And since he and Otabek haven't really. Officially announced things to anyone who isn't considered family, anyway well, this seems like his best bet to get advice without you know... lighting up their relationship to all of Riverview. Not that Yuri doesn't want to do that, eventually- but they're still in their fledgling stages. He's just not quite ready yet. ]

So I just started dating someone recently and like. They're really cool, and great, and have been way too nice to me in the presents department- so I want to pay them back, you know? Spoil them too. Problem is- they're really hard to shop for. Like. They're so cool but also minimalist and it's fucking hard, okay. I keep feeling like all of my ideas are okay, but not good enough for someone as great as he is. And I want to do something that's like- the best. The absolute best. Money isn't really a concern but, being reasonable is better than not. I don't think he'd appreciate the stupid champagne and diamonds treatment... that's so lame... diamonds aren't even rare. Also, it's probably way too soon for diamonds. I don't want to scare him off-

I've never been in a relationship before. And I want to make it as good for him as he does for me.

You might still need to specify so they know what they're looking for. "A flying one" might not help.

Well, we call them speeders. I'm not entirely familiar with what a motorcycle is. Which is why I said being clear might help.

But I suppose there shouldn't be any issues.

I'm not from Earth, so I don't hail from that future. I come from a planet named Coruscant. Most of our technology there has flight capabilities. Flying cars, for example.

since you have flying vehicles. But what do I know, I'm just some lame earthling.

I'm familiar with that unit of distance. And I've piloted starships. Though not with a lot of fondness.

Earth has no space travel? I wasn't aware of that. I'm afraid you've told me more about it than most people here.

Wow, really? It's not like facts about Earth are any big secret...

I mean, unless you're trying to invade it. In which case, fuck off.

I'm not sure it's worth the effort. Invasion takes up far too much of one's time.

Hey, watch who you say Earth isn't worth it to! Earth probably isn't the best planet out there,
but that doesn't make it the worst either. It's valuable!

I meant that invasion itself isn't very worthwhile.

I'm sure it's a lovely planet. All the people I've met from there seem to be good people.

Not everyone from Earth is nice. Hopefully you're not an idiot who trusts to easily. People will chew you up, use you up, and spit you out sometimes, if they have the chance. ...But there are some pretty good ones too. ]

But those people exist everywhere. I can only hope when I meet them, they'll make a better choice. Nothing I've seen has led me to believe otherwise.

Yeah, I guess so. I mean,
you would think people would get a clue- that that kind of bullshit only hurts more than it helps. But whatever, I'm not a babysitter for people's moral compass.

Well, not everyone is fortunate enough to have those clues to begin with. It usually comes with time.

Time shime. It only takes one second to open your damn eyes to the way the world is, some people just don't care to look around.

Sometimes I wish I could still see the manufactured fantasy of all good in the world, but I guess these days I'm just a cynic.

It keeps me from being overly disappointed. From getting my hopes up. But it also makes me more determined.

The only one who is going to work for me is me. The only person who isn't going to let me down? That's also me.

And now, maybe him. Because that's trust in our relationship. As hard as it is for someone like me to give. But I guess that says it all for how I feel, huh.
