Video Open | un: blacklion

[The video opens with a rather hesitant looking Shiro. There's really nothing behind him as of the moment, but he does glance over at something almost right as the video kicks on]

So... it seems this place just keeps getting weirder. It seems we had some recent arrivals from our world and well... it's better to show you.

[He turned back to whatever he had been looking at]

Come here. You can come here.

[Faintly in the background there was the sound of metal moving off screen then something walked into view of the camera so others could see it. It was quite clearly a black robot lion with glowing yellow eyes, several panels glowing blue, and red wing like protrusions on its back. It's was larger than a normal lion. It walked over and sat down next to Shiro, leaning in as though trying to figure out what he was holding]

This is the Black Lion of Voltron. However, its usually not this... small.

[Yes, he is calling a robot that's larger than a normal lion small]

I'm usually shorter than Black's foot. Let me see it.

[This he says to the lion, which does raise one leg to let Shiro have its foot, but it basically drops all the weight into his hand which makes him flinch]

You are still made of metal and heavy.

[Someone might be able to faintly hear the snickering in the background, but then the next thing that happens is that Keith suddenly fell into the frame of the camera as though shoved by something, a vague red blur before it vanished. Shiro jumped when this happened and the Black Lion got up heading off camera again only to return a moment later carrying a smaller red lion by the "scruff" of the neck as Keith sat up. Shiro just put his chin in his free hand watching as Black carried Red off before he remembered this was still rolling and turned back]

They don't know their own strength.

[ooc: Meet your new neighbors, two of the lions from Voltron! Black is about the size of large liger and Red is the size of a small lion. They are... slightly more active than normal, but will probably be around their specific paladin for the most part.

Either Keith or Shiro is available to answer. If you have a preference or if your character is pinging a specific person, just let us know. It can even be both if you'd like! If no preference, random response.

[Keith heard her call out and he stepped around so she could see him, raising his arm up to get her attention.]

Over here.

[There was definitely the sound of a heavy metal robot moving behind him, and then Red poked her head around to look at who he was talking to.]

[ She smiled brightly, trotting over towards him, only to stop short at the sight of Red, in the fle-- er, metal, slowering her steps but not her advance and stopping a good foor or two away from the pair. ]

Oh wow - seeing her in person is -totally- different from over the network. .... which makes sense, come to think of it, since I pretty much saw mostly her nose. [ ...and because it's rude to talk about a being like she's not even there, Marinette coughed awkwardly and waved at the non-fuzzy kitty. ]

Hi.

[ Seeing Red and Keith together like that made her wish Tikki were with her. But if Red showed up, then that meant maybe she'd see Tikki again too. Maybe. Or not. Or when she went home. UGH, focus. ]

She's really cute! [ Marinette said, shifting her attention to Keith again. ]

In a metal, robotty kind of way. And I never thought I'd ever say that.

[If Red was a real cat, she might have blinked and flicked her ears forward at being addressed. As it was, her ears were already permanently affixed in a forward position, and her eyes didn't blink. They just glowed yellow. Though, even without irises or pupils, they still seemed to follow movement and watch things around them. For a robot, the Lion seemed to have a personality to it that most mechanical things didn't have.]

People keep saying that.

[At this size, Keith could sort of agree that, yeah, the Lions were cute. It was kind of hard for him to disassociate the fact that they were still weapons of war, though, but that was likely due to the fact that he'd actually piloted Red in battle quite a bit already.]

I mean, I guess they are. I hadn't really considered it before. They were always giant space faring war ships to us. But, at this size, it's kind of hard to deny that... yeah, she's cute.

[He moved his hand, touching her ear slightly. That got a headtilt from her, and then she turned to look up at him. It was so weird having her react like that.]

[ Marinette chuckled. ]

Well, wouldn't you agree? I mean, seeing a picture is world's apart from being right in front of the real thing.

[ She couldn't even begin to fathom what it might be like for him and Shiro to go from piloting giant robot cats, to said robot cats being significantly less war-shiplike. ]

Is it just that they changed in size? They weren't hurt or having any odd side effects from a change like that, ..right? I imagine it might have been a bit of a shock for them as much as you.

Yeah. [Considering that Keith's first clues of there being a "blue lion" were cave carvings he had worked out a translation to over the course of a long several months in the desert. The carving had been really accurate, oddly enough, but Blue had really not been what he had been expecting to find in that cave.] You're right.

[He shrugged a bit.]

They seem to be okay. They haven't really expressed any sort of malfunction or damage from the trip or the size change. They're just... confused, as far as I can tell from Red. Shiro said the same thing about Black.

[ Marinette leaned down a little to peer at Red curiously, a hand starting to reach out - then catching herself and putting her hand back. Petting - well, touching - someone else's sentient robot kitty without permission was bad! ]

Yeah, I'd probably be confused too if I was suddenly an eighth of my usual size. [ Or whatever fraction it would be for the cats. ]

Did anything else come through?

Doesn't look like it. Just the two of them.

[Red watched Marinette's hand, and then leaned closer.]

Red doesn't mind if you want to touch her.

[ Marinette gave Keith a curious glance. ]

Are you sure?

[ But Red confirms is, so.. nice kitteh, please don't eat my hand. Marinette turned her attention back to the Red Lion to brush her fingers on top of the..the metal head. So weird that a metal lion could seem expressive~! ]

Yeah. Red's actually being really well-behaved right now.

[That got a rumble in response, but Keith and the Lion seemed to be teasing each other. There was definitely a fondness between them about it.

Either way, the robot lion definitely liked the attention from Marinette was was content to just stay there and let her touch.]

[ Marinette chuckled at the -well, to her, one-sided banter, between Keith and his Lion. They kind of reminded her of herself and Tikki, in a way. Only if Tikki ever did appear through the portal the way the lions did for him and Shiro, she wouldn't be able to return the favor and introduce him to her. Unfortunately. Secrecy sucked. She gave ol' Red a few pats, even rubbed her fingers over the kittybot's head briefly, though her gaze ran over the entirety of the Red Lion, almost committing its image to memory before she leaned back, looking a little embarrassed. ]

The two of you remind me of a friend of mine.. [ She grins. ] I really appreciate you taking the time to show her to me. And to you for putting up with me too, Red.

[ Even if she can't hear Red's voice like Keith can, she's not going to talk over her head like she's not even there. ]

[Red honestly appreciated the consideration, and she gave Marinette a gentle nudge with her nose in thanks.]

No problem. I think Red likes showing off a little.

[The tail swished in amusement.]

This size thing, though... that's going to take some getting used to.

[ Marinette giggled at the nudge, rubbing her hand on the big cat's head again. Good kitty. ]

Well.. look at it this way. They could have come through a LOT smaller. Being a little smaller isn't that bad. [ Pause. ]

Oh hey... you said when they were their bigger size you were her pilot, right? Can she still fly?

[ .. probably not while carrying him though. Though the mental image does amuse her, seeing him ride a robot lion into battle or something. ]

[Red's tail lifted a little. Marinette was cool!

Keith nodded a bit at what she said. That was a pretty good point. She could be pocket sized or the size of a housecat, and then what?

Her question about Red still being able to fly, though, got him thinking.]

I think so? I mean, I haven't seen her do it, yet. The most was she skimmed her way across the ground using her jets the day we found them, but I haven't seen her actually fly.

[He looked down at her, and Red looked at the door leading out of the garage for a moment. Without warning, she crouched and the jets on her hindlegs fired up. She didn't get a lot of height in the garage because of the ceiling, but she was definitely a few feet off the ground as she headed out.

Just before she took off, Keith stepped in between the Lion and Marinette.]

Careful!

[But Red hadn't listened, buffeting them with the backwash of wind from her taking off. Keith sighed.]

I'll take that as a yes. Come on.

[He jogged towards the door to see if he could spot the Lion. He knew she wouldn't go far on her own.]

[ Yay, she got RobotKittyApproval(tm)! ]

Hrmm. Maybe - [ ACK did she offend the Red Lion somehow? She's caught off guard when Red suddenly decided the ground was for suckers and went into hover mode - taking an instinctive step backwards in surprise. Though it was probably not necessary since Keith moved himself between her and the Lion anyhow. ]

What did I say? [ She raises a hand to shield herself from the gusts of wind kicked up as Red bolted off to be wild and free. Lowering her arm, she quickly jogged after Keith, baffled, ]

Where did she go..?

You asked if she could still fly. [When they got outside, Keith looked up. Sure enough, Red was hovering above, waiting for them to come out. He pointed.] There she is.

[She roared at them, then circled, before coming back down.]

I guess she wanted to answer your question herself. [She walked back over to them.] Show off. [Keith's tone was amused, though. Red almost seemed pleased with herself.]

Oh. [ She thought she'd offended her somehow. Taking a spot next to Keith, she glanced up with a grin as she watched Red show off in the sky before landing again. ]

Seeing it really is better than just getting an affirmation. [ And because females of any species have to stick together, she couldn't help but give Keith a little teasing poke when he called Red out for being a show off. ]

Heehee, well *I* appreciated it Red, thank you. [ She chuckled. It's okay Red, she's got your back~! ]

[Red purred.]

Oh wow... thanks, guys. Teaming up on me now.

[He sighed, but he wasn't annoyed. If anything, Keith seemed more amused than anything else. Still, though, bonded 'mama cat' needed to make sure he was okay, so she stepped up to him and pressed her forehead against his hip. He had to shift his stance just enough to keep his balance. She was still learning how hard she could do that.]

It's fine.

[ Marinette couldn't help but giggle. ]

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Besides, you know girls tend to stick together.

[ She added with a grin - though watching him interacting with Red like that was so precious. The lion really was fond of him. Aww. ]

I always wondered what that was about.

[Red purred a little, but wasn't telling him any secrets.]

[ Marinette grinned. ]

Sorry Keith, ladies secrets. [ Unless Red told him, but since he seemed still confused bout it, she doubted that the lion broke the Female Code of Secrecy(tm). ]

Not that all women get along, unfortunately...

[Keith shrugged.]

I wouldn't know about that.

[He looked a little sheepish.]

I'm kind of glad, though, that Red's here. I mean, I've been describing her to people, but no one was really believing me. I guess it did sound a little strange.

Though, we don't have the other three, anyway, so we can't actually get them to form a mini Voltron.

[Which... sounded kind of funny in his head, really. And, at the same time, a little nerve-wracking. The idea of the Lions forming a mini Voltron and running around all by themselves was a really intimidating thought.]

[ She reached up to pat his shoulder. ]

Count yourself lucky. [ She hurms. ] It's kind of odd that they didn't believe you - I mean, there have to be stranger things here than a giant robot lion, right? ... Not that I'm saying you're strange, Red.

[ You're wonderful, you're beautiful, you're perfect! Good kitty. ]

A.... a what now?

A mini Voltron? The Lions. When we have all five of them and sync up, they transform and link together to make an even bigger robot warrior called Voltron.

[Because what else would you do with a giant psychic robot space lion?]

....really? [ She glanced at Red, trying to imagine her as part of a giant robot. ]

Is the robot warrior a cat too? [ Or a humanoid cat. ]

No. Oddly enough, it's human shaped. Though the hands and feet are the lion heads. Red here makes the right arm. The Black Lion over there is the head and chest. That's why it's so much bigger than Red. The two lions that make the legs are a bit bigger than Red, but still smaller than Black, and the Green Lion, which is Voltron's left arm, is the same size as Red.
