[Ivar snaps the words out irritably. It's nothing that he hasn't thought to himself at one time or another before. Such was what happened being around his gods here in Riverview. What could someone unimportant as he was, crippled and not even whole, offer?

But he's not about to take this lying down.]

What's the matter, Trickster? Jealous of the attention he gets? Did your mother favor him over you growing up or something?

[He's got a rivalry with Sigurd, his older brother, that mirrors the two god's relationship in more ways than one. He knows what resentment fills his brother's heart and why it was placed there.]

[ A decent attempt, but people claiming jealousy were easy to circumvent. Loki has heard this talk for centuries after all. ]

Actually, our mother passed on her teachings to me. But good try though.

[ragnarsson]

Tell me, do you enjoy getting under everyone's skin this much?

[Though really, he shouldn't expect anything different from someone that every Norse legend had made out to be a clever trickster and liar.]

[ Loki shrugs loosely. ]

Of course.

[ragnarsson]

Great. Just great.

[This should bode well the next time Ivar and Thor spend any amount of time together. Which was probably just what Loki wanted in the first place.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki eyes him surreptitiously. ]

It is in my nature.

[ragnarsson]

That's also what the snake said when it bit the frog.

[dothelokimotion]

[ A slow smile stretches itself on Loki's face. ]

Snake, scorpion, fox. The story does not change.

[ragnarsson]

It always ends the same way: with one dead frog.

[Ivar had always liked that story. He did things the same way, always doing what he wanted to get what he want.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ This is the most bizarre turnabout. ]

Is that not the point? To avoid the fate of the frog.

[ragnarsson]

That's the problem if you're a snake. You eventually run out of frogs.

[He thinks about things like this quite a lot. The problem with having an over-analytic mind.]

[ Loki chuckles. ]

Ah, but there are far more frogs than there are snakes.

[ragnarsson]

So you say. Until they all get wise and leave you to yourself.

[He's also thought about this a lot. He's had a lot of people leave in his life, making him wonder what the whole point had been. Was he destined to drive away anyone he cared about?]

[ If they do, it only serves as proof to Loki's nature. He cannot curb it, cannot tame it. He has tried and that one attempt ruined him. Better to play the villain and make the whole world your enemy. It leaves nothing to doubt.

You have high hopes for the frog.
