I grew up hearing tales about the horrors of Asgard. The worst were the stories of Odin's rampages, but the ones that truly kept me up at night were the stories about the cannibal Volstagg.

I know Pinocchio. He was a puppet who wanted to be a real boy.

[ This seems like a random thing to ask but he'll bite. ]

Myths varied from country to country and I didn't really get into those until a little later. As a kid, the fairytales were more common.

Ever heard of Rapunzel?

There was a god named Loki and, legend has it, he was the very best at everything. His hair was raven silk, his eyes of piercing hue, and his legs went on forever! People would walk by and swoon purely from his proximity, but they wouldn't mind because when he smiled rainbows poured out all over Yggdrasil and the world was a better place. When he laughed the trolls exploded and butterflies were born. Loki's astonishingly athletic figure and umatched mind were courted daily, hourly, and he had a trillion lovers who all declared they could never keep up. Fandral, who was hailed by mortals as the avatar of fertility, was kicked out on his gnarled backside after Loki winked at an orchard of apple trees and they all turned to gold fruit that kept the Aesir forever strong and almost as beautiful as he. Whether Loki was man or woman or animal, literally everybody declared he was the greatest.

Sometimes he solved all the problems in the realms for fun, then he napped on swan feathers and sipped from wine chalices constantly filled by virgins who were to be sacrificed to his bedchamber. They had to take tickets after a while, because everyone wanted to be an offering.

And whenever he kissed his reflection, it kissed back twofold. ;)

I grew up reading all kinds of stories, real, myth, and even fantasy. It was...one of the only things I could do to pass the time, really.

But my world has lots of myths and legends! There's many about the god of light and his warriors for one. There's also other gods like ones of the sea, earth, sky and even space.

More myths than stories. The Jedi being one of them.

You can already guess. But they did get a few things wrong about you and the other gods in those legends and stories.

My parents read me a number of stories, made sure I had plenty to read, but the one that stands out most is Fenian Cycle.

Stories about the gods, a lot of the time. Odin, Frigg, Thor, Loki, Baldr, all of them. And stories about our ancestors who did memorable things, like Bork the Bold, and about dragons. Granted, none of those stories painted dragons in a very good light, but... You know. Times change.

You mean the ones they knew were bullshit when they told us? Like the Easter Bunny? Or the ones they still believe, like, you know, good and honorable death and shit?

My family wasn't much for storytime. Had a friend's grandma that liked to tell stories about Raven though. Those were pretty good. My friend didn't care for them, but he was more a cowboy stories kinda kid.

I used to hear about Aldar Kose. He's...uh, similar to Robin Hood, I guess. Less steal, more trick the rich.

Oddly enough, now that I think about it, not very many, even when I was a small child. Mainly about Earth before it was destroyed, those kinds of simple things..
