Is it normal for things to be this...intense?
[The ghosts, the weird party thing that happened and now...now she isn't sure what to make of anything.]
Rather, is it normal for your old things to suddenly appear? I didn't think I would see it again after leaving Jakku, but...it's better than nothing.
Or, is it a trick and should I prepare for it to be something else? I would like to eventually use it, but if it's a trick....
[Nothing is given freely, especially her Speeder. How or why it's suddenly came to Riverview is beyond her. Does she dare trust it?]

From the way the portal was spoken about in orientation, it made it sound like the person or people in charge here have some control over the portal. Which is why I'm skeptical of my own Speeder. It will come in handy though...
Wonderful, I'm hoping that won't happen again any time soon. I'd rather like to keep my memories all in tact. [And there won't be a way to guard against such a thing happening so...she'll have to go with the flow.
Fun.]

The story is that they can try to guide it back to specific worlds to get people home who don't actually want to be here. It's not easy and it takes time, though. It was compared to trying to control a force of nature last I heard. The best we can do is make use of what arrives.
All of the plants involved were torched and a tea was made that gave people their memories back, hopefully that means if it does happen again we're already prepared. Either way, most things that happen here are just temporary and they're very quick to correct mistakes.
[Going with the flow has become Ed's mantra, but he still likes to do his research on the subjects, even if there's nothing he can do to change things.]

[Maybe another person who knows what it means to fly on a ship? Or travel from one world to the next?]
I haven't heard much, but I have spent more time on figuring out on what to do rather than listen to stories, or asking questions during orientation.
That's...good to know? At least if in the even it happens again, you're somewhat prepared, but it makes me wonder what else may happen. But, there isn't a point to worrying. Can't control what may happen next.

[He's traveled worlds all right, but that dinky little rocket he flew was no space ship, Rey. Sorry to disappoint. He does have plenty of friends that are pilots though, so he knows a few things.]
The first thing I worried about was getting settled in, after three portals I'd kind of rather not go through another one.
We can't predict or control any of it, but it is definitely better to be on our guard.
Just about anything seems likely to happen here.

Wait, what?]
Three portals? I thought there was only one...or...have you been here before?
Expect the unexpected then?

though. Here they offer a chance to go home if they can get the portal pointed right,
the last places held us against our will, for one thing. It's pretty complicated,
being pulled from one world to the next without any control over it but the last portal I took a rocket through.
[Getting into the differences between Riverview, Purg and Lang was one thing, adding Munich or London to that was only going to make this conversation messier.]
In this place? That's always your safest bet.

[Pointless to keep going on with that, she's explored that option one too many times.]
...A rocket? And you didn't...get injured?

[At the question he realizes they're definitely imagining different things.]
I guess a one seater spaceship might make more sense?
no subject
That does make more sense. A rocket usually involves a weapon, a ship will transport people...or weapons and people.

[And that's that, because she's right. He could speculate but it would only lead to more questions and neither one of them wanted to deal with it right now.]
Where I learned about them, smaller rocket propelled space ships could bet called rockets for short. I guess context made the difference, we flew a rocket in a demonstration at a carnival but it wasn't being used as a weapon then either.
