Is it normal for things to be this...intense?

[The ghosts, the weird party thing that happened and now...now she isn't sure what to make of anything.]

Rather, is it normal for your old things to suddenly appear? I didn't think I would see it again after leaving Jakku, but...it's better than nothing.

Or, is it a trick and should I prepare for it to be something else? I would like to eventually use it, but if it's a trick....

[Nothing is given freely, especially her Speeder. How or why it's suddenly came to Riverview is beyond her. Does she dare trust it?]

Ooh, scathing. I may be able to manage that.

It does sound that, true, and far more convenient than these cabs. I'm almost envious.

Ah, well, I always find it a pleasure to meet new people here. Everyone's so interesting and from such different places. Where are you from, Rey?

I have picked up a fair amount of both eloquent and stuffy words in my travels. I shan't let them go to waste.

No, I think transportation is for sale. To be honest, I've never looked. My idea of transportation...differs drastically from what is considered "typical" here.

Well, you seem pleasurable enough so far. Opinions can, of course, be altered.

You're entire planet is a desert? How depressing. And...filled with refuse?

Ah, my world is very...it varies. I come for a humid, warm environment to the north, where the southern lands have vast forests, deserts that somehow still manage to be cold, sweeping oceans...just about any sort of environ one may imagine.

Letters of complaint generally are. They're a practice in being remarkably insulting yet remaining civil. Coincidentally, they're also very fun to read.

A ship, if it's oversea, horses or some other such mount over land. If none are available, we oft use our feet.

The secret, of course, is amicability. Remain friendly, and things typically go on well enough.

And...this is your entire planet?

...Ah, yes, well, Thedas is lovely. I can't say I don't miss it. Yes, the forests are green and full of very large bears and the occasional ancient altar I'd recommend not disturbing. The waters can be blue, though there are others that roil and froth immensely and set off your nausea. Perhaps that sounds lovely to you, but I have more relaxing pastimes.

Yes, well, I suppose I'll see how long my tolerance for it lasts, through the letter or no.

It isn't so much they're hard to keep as I've no interest in doing so. I've never been a farmhand, and I really don't want to change that fact.

I don't know, Rey, you seem to be handling it well enough.

Well, if that weren't the case, where is it you do obtain your water?

Oh yes, when neither are hiding things wanting to kill you, I suppose they are rather relaxing, and even beautiful.

What an odd assumption, but the implication you think it isn't so bad tells me you've never smelled fresh horse droppings.

I see, and how far does that get anyone?

That's...why in Andraste's name do people choose to live in a desert? Is yours at least warm?

Alas, such a placid circumstance is rare enough to be novel when it occurs, at least on Thedas these days.

Most normally present that question with a certain tone.

[Suggesting, of course, that he gets that "tone" often.]

I see, as most deserts are. I know of one, duly named the Hissing Wastes, that remains cold, no matter the time of day.

Ah, yes. Thedas is neither. A...continent, really. There are several kingdoms, city-states, principalities, empires, and democratic nations on Thedas. Legend speaks of other lands across the seas, and we know them to be true as the Qunari nor we humans are native to Thedas.

It is, indeed.

Why, yes! A companion explained it as "sand blowing over sand in a place completely covered in sand". It was rather enlightening.

Read the last as sarcasm.

Yes. It's a shame most of them are at each others' throats, isn't it?

In my world, written correspondence is the most common. I suppose it comes with practice.

Maybe in the Hissing Wastes there's always a storm just over the horizon. It's a dismal and depressingly appropriate for the area.

Learning new things is always enlightening, and often a pleasure. Being patronized by a hulking brute when you can barely feel your toes? Irritating at best.

Yes, well, everyone thinks their truth is the only truth, and they like to fight over it. It's to be expected.

Well, yes. I'm rather adept at many things, words among them.

What a treasure that must be, rather like a unicorn. I'll leave the discovery to the more intrepid adventurers if it's all the same.

...one would think, but this one is particularly vexing in that he is not, as stereotypes would suggest, stupid or simple. He is, though, of no concern at present, as he is, quite literally, countless miles away.

There's the rub, my dear. You think they're wrong. They, on the other hand, think you're the one in error, and on it goes until someone picks up a sword and starts hacking at the other with it. Then his friends are offended and pick up their swords, and well, there you have it.
