[ Have a short burst of static as the feed opens to a brunette giving the camera a light tap as she regards the device with an openly curious lilt about her expression. This level of technology isn't new to her, not in the slightest. It's common enough on the Planet, but it's different from the terminals to which she'd grown accustomed in Purgatorium and its novelty still hasn't worn out on her despite her arrival earlier in the month, a tribute to just how much time she's spent resting and recovering given the harshness of the previous world's conditions. She's still too pale for a lack of sun and too thin with some lingering tiredness about her. It's really more convenient, what with this device being mobile as opposed to bolted to the ground, of course. The inclusion of a camera with video function is certainly a clean step up from voice and text with tiny pictures and she expects it will serve her well enough in this new, foreign world.
It's a moment later, once she's sure the device is properly on and functioning, that she offers the camera, the audience an easy smile and a two fingered salute in greeting. ]
Hey there, Riverview! My name is Valeria Myles. I'd say it's nice to meet you, but think I'll save that for individual introductions. If there's anyone from the Planet here or Shinra means anything to you, I'd appreciate it if you could get in touch with me.
[ That smile of hers doesn't slack. The network has always proven the quickest way to determine if there's a familiar face around and about, after all, and it should prove useful in gathering some much needed intel given how little and wholly ideal the information orientation had provided. Things are seldom so good. Speaking of -- ]
Orientation was a little lacking in providing anything beyond the bare minimum details about this place, so I thought I'd ask the lot of you and hope you aren't too tired of these sorts of questions already.
What can you tell me about Riverview? The good, the bad, the ugly -- I'm looking less for the standard tourist answers and more for the nitty gritty, but I'd be glad to take that and everything in between seeing how I'm going to be here a while. [ A pause, brief but thoughtful. ] If you happen to know a place that serves a proper coffee, I'd be happy to take that, too. It's... been a while. It almost seems overdue.
[ Any nostalgia that's managed to seep into her voice is gone as she blinks back to the present. There's that bubbling energy, that smile tugged wider. ]
That's a fair introduction, don't you think? Thank you for your time. I hope to hear from you soon.

As for coffee...there are a few good cafes. I'll send the address of the best.
[ Or at least in his opinion. ]

Valeria. We share a room, don't we?
[She's on her way to work, so the video is turning to show some random scenery as she shifts the device in her hand.]
I agree, orientation was lacking. I'm on my way to analyze some data in order to gauge the climate of this place. I can provide you with some insights on that if I gain any.
[This is starting to feel like too much of a coincidence. Two familiar faces, and she's rooming with both of them. While she'll take advantage of having some knowledge over Val and Ed, she'll have to make sure to be extra cautious in case this is some kind of strange trap set up by some higher power, after all.]

Action
He had heard there were new people one floor six, but he didn't pay much mind to it. People came and went as he had learned the hard way. So he didn't even bother introducing himself, instead he want on with his life as he always did. He was standing in the kitchen half asleep as he was cooking, the smell of eggs and bacon could be smelled wafting through the floor. Who cared that it was nearly six pm, he wanted breakfast. His hair was wild and sticking all directions and he was wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt and a red cloak over it with the hood down as he wiggled the pan a bit to flip the eggs. As late as it was he had just crawled out of bed from his post work nap.]

I'm familiar with ShinRa.
[A brief response, but something at least. It was enough to offer a familiarity to her.]
Are they your employer?
[A shot in the dark, sure, but from her demeanor and her tone, ShinRa wasn't an 'enemy'. Before things went south, 30 years ago...ShinRa was a name to be respected, not feared.]
(OOC: Sorry for the delay, this week has been nuts!)

There are things outside the wall you should be careful of.
Don't go wandering alone without a weapon or a bodyguard or something.

There's a few places for coffee. [ insert directions here. ] And I'm sure someone's already told you to stay within the fences unless you feel like fighting monsters.

in person;
but it's when she mentions coffee that a grin spreads on his lips. he knows just the thing, thanks to the nico boy who used to spend so much time around their floor. setting down the stew, plate of cookies, and the books in front of her with a smile, he straightens and slides his hands into his pockets. ]
I think I know just the thing if you want coffee. There's a boy that comes and goes sometimes and he left some coffee here for us. I'll go make it.
