[ he's been scrolling through the network for much of the afternoon, mulling over various threads and the content within. while there were more pressing questions he could no doubt ask instead, it was better to start off small and inconspicuous. right? right. ]

Rather than toss another bewildered introduction into the mix, I thought I would pose a question instead. Several, in fact.

1. What were your initial reactions to your new home?

2. How do you feel about your situation as it stands now?

3. What do you do to pass the time?

[ For whatever it’s worth, the Quarantine is meant to be welcoming, and it is indeed that if nothing else. ]

Hm. It’s difficult to put such things into words, but for comparison’s sake, the easiest place to start would be with the transport. We have airships, though they’re very few and far between. For the common man, travel on land would be made by foot, by mount, or by chocobo-drawn cart. If you wished to cross the ocean, you would take a ship.

Here, vehicles are commonplace- I’m told they’re called “cars”. We’ve nothing even close to that where I’m from, nevermind these communication devices, or televisions, or refrigerators.

I see. That's quite the jump for you, then. Chocobos are a common mode of transport where I'm from as well, save for the capital cities.

What more can you tell me about these airships? Ours tend to be reserved for military use more than not as of late.

[ Oh too bad this is text because someone else knows chocobos. He just lights right up. ]

Oh? I’ve not met anyone else who knows what they are, unless they’ve seen one here. You’re not of Hydaelyn, are you?

[ He’ll answer the other question later if he has to. Right now he’s more curious to know if he’s found someone from his world. ]

I haven't heard the name before, I'm afraid. My home lies on Eos.

[ it hasn't occurred to him just yet that chocobos aren't a universal staple, much in the way plants and oxygen and zu are. ]

Ah, I see. Well, it was worth it to ask, but if you have chocobos, mayhaps there’s more we share.

But to answer your earlier inquiry: there are airships employed by the major cities of Eorzea to allow quick transport from one to the next. Beyond that, I know that most others fall under the ownership of Garlond Ironworks, a corps of engineers whose aim it is to share magitek with those who would not normally have access to it.

Magitek in our world has less pleasant connotations, to say the least. Most, if not all of our large-scale technological marvels are creations of war, or intended for such.

Oh, I am much more familiar with the military applications of magitek than I would reasonably like to be. Outside of Garlond Ironworks, magitek is primarily the weapon of the Garlean Empire. There is naught they wouldn't do to expand their reach.

On that oh-so-charming note, I think a photo of a chocobo wouldn't go amiss.

It’s a bit fluffier than I’m used to, but familiar all the same. We’ve nothing capable of taking photographs on my world, or else I would return the favor.
