[You can tell from the moment Thor's face appears on camera, he's been through hell and back. His hair is almost entirely buzzed down, save for the tufts on top, with markings shaved into the sides. His eye is covered by a black patch, indicating an injury that he isn't happy to talk about.]

I've made some changes. [Bluntly, as if he consented to any of this.]

What else.. Some things have happened at home that may be of interest to some of you. [He hums, considering.] Odin is dead. I have another sister? Her name is Hela. Mjolnir is destroyed. Banner is alive. [He feels a little guilty revealing that one, but he thinks someone deserves to know.] I fought the Hulk. I won. I met a real, live Valkyrie- And Asgard is.. [A people, not a place, but..] The realm has been destroyed. My people are seeking refuge, I suppose I understand now what displacement feels like.

I have the remains of Asgard in a ship, floating through space. If a portal could open for them, that would be extremely useful to me right now. I'm a king with no land or people, now. Very poetic. [Does he seem terse? He's kind of tense.


And then Loki comes barging in, looking very much the same and carrying a large parchment. He glances at the recording with a frown. He places the map of Earth on the wall, pinning it with a single dagger.]

Must you reveal everything? Put that away, I have work for you.

[ Loki nods, closing the connection. After a few hours, Loki quietly slips into Steve's apartment. ]

Steve?

[ action ]

[ When Loki comes in, Steve has hot chocolate heating on the stove. He pours some into a mug and goes to meet Loki, handing it over. ]

[dothelokimotion]

[ He blinks, his hands automatically going for the drink. ]

Were you preparing this for me?

Yes.

[ He presses the mug into Loki's hands and then pats his wrist. ]

You want to sit down?

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki tries to say no, it's fine, he's coping but nothing comes out. Instead, he nods, his gaze dropping to the floor. ]

I'm sure you do, but genius seems like it might be pushing it.

[It's not that he thinks Thor is dumb. He's seen too much of the god firsthand to believe that. It's just that Ivar is one of those teenagers that believes he already knows everything.]

Exactly.

[ Overthrow Hela, free the dead Angels, get Sera back. Easy as pie. ]

[hevenly]

[ In any universe, Angela will find Hela distasteful, it seems. ]

Your version of Hela sounds even more horrid than mine.

I have no doubts you handled it with aplomb.

[Squints at suspiciously.]

I didn't get the chance to see much of the Loki of my world, but he died by Thor's side. Would you run when faced with unbeatable odds or stay as he did?

You seem like the sort of person who understands the power you wield. I trust you'll use it wisely.

( never has he ever heard a statement so far from the truth. but it's not like he's pointing that out to thor. )

I'll try not to waste that trust.

Come on. You don't have to hold back with me.

[ He pulls Loki closer and leads him over to the couch, sitting him down with his mug and sitting next to him as he gives him time to breathe again. ]

You don't need to do any of that. [It's not that Thor rejects the offer, but it surprises him that Tony would so readily take on his burdens.

Thor reaches out and gives Tony's shoulder a gentle push.]

We have plenty to drink here. Why don't you stay here and keep me company while I work my way through it? That's what I really want.

I don't think it is. Are you going to tell me what I am and what I'm not?

[worldsaway]

Mm, she's probably the worst person to ever exist. I don't say that lightly. [He does, but whatever.]

What is she like in your world?

Very wise of you.

Billy, was it? Billy, I have to go now, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of one another.

I am not trying to.

[ But it seems at this point, Loki's words are failing him. Steve had called it a shock and perhaps that was the best word for it. Because deep down, Loki didn't feel as much as Thor did. Even during his stint as king, Loki tolerated them. Entertained them. Enjoyed the way they danced to his whims like sheep. But they would have forgotten him. Like Hela.

His fingers rub against the ceramic, the heat weaving itself into his skin. ]

I'm not — [ His hands are shaking and he sets the mug abruptly. ]

[inebriety]

Can't have been very unbeatable if you're still alive.

[But it's interesting to note what Loki is implying here. Loki hating his brother enough to kill him, but loving him enough to bring him back might be the common thread throughout the multiverse.]

[dothelokimotion]

I am notably hard to kill.

[ Though it wavers between being a point of pride and being one of contention. ]

Though our sister did try her best.

[inebriety]

I don't, but I want to. That's what friends do.

[He gets himself comfortable on the bed.]

Do you plan on sharing?

[He bounces a little, idly comparing their mattresses (it's the same).]

[inebriety]

[He has absolutely no context for that.]

Thor slept with Hela on my world. I'm going to have to ask him if they're related in light of this news from you two.

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki visibly cringes at that. ]

I hear it is not the case in the other universes.

[inebriety]

It wouldn't be the first time someone on the team slept with a sibling.
