[You can tell from the moment Thor's face appears on camera, he's been through hell and back. His hair is almost entirely buzzed down, save for the tufts on top, with markings shaved into the sides. His eye is covered by a black patch, indicating an injury that he isn't happy to talk about.]

I've made some changes. [Bluntly, as if he consented to any of this.]

What else.. Some things have happened at home that may be of interest to some of you. [He hums, considering.] Odin is dead. I have another sister? Her name is Hela. Mjolnir is destroyed. Banner is alive. [He feels a little guilty revealing that one, but he thinks someone deserves to know.] I fought the Hulk. I won. I met a real, live Valkyrie- And Asgard is.. [A people, not a place, but..] The realm has been destroyed. My people are seeking refuge, I suppose I understand now what displacement feels like.

I have the remains of Asgard in a ship, floating through space. If a portal could open for them, that would be extremely useful to me right now. I'm a king with no land or people, now. Very poetic. [Does he seem terse? He's kind of tense.


And then Loki comes barging in, looking very much the same and carrying a large parchment. He glances at the recording with a frown. He places the map of Earth on the wall, pinning it with a single dagger.]

Must you reveal everything? Put that away, I have work for you.

...Did you just live through Ragnarok?

[Ivar assumes that's what happened because how else would Asgard have been destroyed and all that other shit occur? That's the type of stuff that only comes with the end of the friggin world. Frankly, he's just surprised the brothers are still alive after all that.]

Also, what happened to your hair?

[Priorities. Ivar has them.]

I caused it.

[ He only says it because Loki wants to butt in before Thor blames himself and spirals. ]

He got into a fight with a pair of scissors and lost.

[ragnarsson]

Hmmm. That doesn't surprise me.

[In the legends, Loki was always said to be one of the main catalysts of Ragnarok. Ivar takes him at his word.]

Well, clearly. It was either that or he lost a bet.

[dothelokimotion]

[ No, it wouldn't. The few perks of a terrible reputation, at least. ]

Thor was never adept at gambling.

[ragnarsson]

Only with his life, apparently. [He pauses.] I am shocked to see you both still alive after such an event.

[After all, just about all the gods and the entire universe were supposed to perish in one final glorious battle. Such a shame it would happen in the future. Ivar would have welcomed it in his own time.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki shrugs loosely at that. ]

It was touch and go for a moment. Our sister was . . . persistent.

[ragnarsson]

You all seem to have issues with getting along.

[Much like Ivar and his brothers do. He gets it better than most.]

We were heirs to the largest dynasty conceivable. It tended to leave issues with us all.

[ragnarsson]

You know, some might say you all would have benefited immensely from talking things out. Or a good therapist.

[Probably one of the oddest things Ivar has ever said, but he knew for a fact fighting constantly didn't work in his own family. He felt it was the same with gods.]

It was never our family's strong point.

[ Hela made that abundantly clear. Even Loki hadn't come close to that ]

[ragnarsson]

I suppose it could have been worse. You could all be lying dead in a ditch somewhere.

[Nothing but cheery thoughts from the teenager raised on stories of the ending of the gods.]

[ Asgardians know how to roll with that, at least. ]

Possibly. Though I have a terrible track record with staying dead.

[ragnarsson]

Now there is a secret I would love to know the trick to.

[Not that Ivar intends to live a long life, but having say, nine of them like a cat would be useful.]

I think we did.

[Thor, for the first time in a while, smiles quite brightly. Trust a viking to make him comprehend how important survival truly is.

His smile, of course, falls when Ivar mentions his hair.]

It was shaved when I was sent into battle for my freedom.

[ragnarsson]

You are fortunate. In my world, it's foretold both of you would die during that.

[But he is very glad his uncles survived. Ivar would be most bummed out to lose what family he does have here.

Aw, don't look that way, Thor.]

Cheer up. At least it's something that will grow back. Can't say the same about a hand or foot.

Or an eye. [Blandly.]

I'm surprised I made it out with my life, if I'm honest, but there's no telling how many Asgardians were lost in the fall out.

[ragnarsson]

Hey, I wasn't going to mention the goat in the room, though now you've made me curious as to the story behind losing it.

[Vikings did so love their stories, especially ones about their heroic gods.]

Nothing left to do but survive and rebuild. Can't just curl up and die after living through something like that.

[worldsaway]

Nothing special. Hela struck me in the face out of spite. Probably to make me look like Odin before she killed me. [Thor grunts.] She had issues.

Well, Odin gave his eye for wisdom. I gave my eye to save my people, and now I think I might be a genius, too.

[ragnarsson]

Clearly. Apparently, not getting along seems to be the custom among you all.

[Maybe this is where their mortal relatives got the trait from?]

A genius? Uh-huh.

[It's clear what skepticism Ivar thinks of that statement.]

Mm, what gave that away?

Your skepticism means nothing to me. I know my strengths.

[ragnarsson]

I'm sure you do, but genius seems like it might be pushing it.

[It's not that he thinks Thor is dumb. He's seen too much of the god firsthand to believe that. It's just that Ivar is one of those teenagers that believes he already knows everything.]

[worldsaway]

I don't think it is. Are you going to tell me what I am and what I'm not?

[ragnarsson]

Maybe I am. What are you going to do about it?

[Sorry, Thor. Your nephew is being ornery today, especially after talking with Loki.]

Hit you, most likely.

You'd hit a cripple?

[Ivar puts on a wounded expression.]

Shameful. That's not very nice of you.
