[You can tell from the moment Thor's face appears on camera, he's been through hell and back. His hair is almost entirely buzzed down, save for the tufts on top, with markings shaved into the sides. His eye is covered by a black patch, indicating an injury that he isn't happy to talk about.]

I've made some changes. [Bluntly, as if he consented to any of this.]

What else.. Some things have happened at home that may be of interest to some of you. [He hums, considering.] Odin is dead. I have another sister? Her name is Hela. Mjolnir is destroyed. Banner is alive. [He feels a little guilty revealing that one, but he thinks someone deserves to know.] I fought the Hulk. I won. I met a real, live Valkyrie- And Asgard is.. [A people, not a place, but..] The realm has been destroyed. My people are seeking refuge, I suppose I understand now what displacement feels like.

I have the remains of Asgard in a ship, floating through space. If a portal could open for them, that would be extremely useful to me right now. I'm a king with no land or people, now. Very poetic. [Does he seem terse? He's kind of tense.


And then Loki comes barging in, looking very much the same and carrying a large parchment. He glances at the recording with a frown. He places the map of Earth on the wall, pinning it with a single dagger.]

Must you reveal everything? Put that away, I have work for you.

[ No, it wouldn't. The few perks of a terrible reputation, at least. ]

Thor was never adept at gambling.

[ragnarsson]

Only with his life, apparently. [He pauses.] I am shocked to see you both still alive after such an event.

[After all, just about all the gods and the entire universe were supposed to perish in one final glorious battle. Such a shame it would happen in the future. Ivar would have welcomed it in his own time.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki shrugs loosely at that. ]

It was touch and go for a moment. Our sister was . . . persistent.

[ragnarsson]

You all seem to have issues with getting along.

[Much like Ivar and his brothers do. He gets it better than most.]

We were heirs to the largest dynasty conceivable. It tended to leave issues with us all.

[ragnarsson]

You know, some might say you all would have benefited immensely from talking things out. Or a good therapist.

[Probably one of the oddest things Ivar has ever said, but he knew for a fact fighting constantly didn't work in his own family. He felt it was the same with gods.]

It was never our family's strong point.

[ Hela made that abundantly clear. Even Loki hadn't come close to that ]

I suppose it could have been worse. You could all be lying dead in a ditch somewhere.

[Nothing but cheery thoughts from the teenager raised on stories of the ending of the gods.]

[ Asgardians know how to roll with that, at least. ]

Possibly. Though I have a terrible track record with staying dead.

[ragnarsson]

Now there is a secret I would love to know the trick to.

[Not that Ivar intends to live a long life, but having say, nine of them like a cat would be useful.]

[ Loki would hardly call it a secret. ]

Sadly, I am rather possessive of my tricks.

[ragnarsson]

As I have seen. Such a shame. You'll have no one to carry on after you when that unfortunate end finally does come.

Oh, I'm not too worried. That is a long while away.

[ He examines his fingernails pointedly. ]

By then, we'll forget you ever existed.

[ragnarsson]

[Nice try, but this time, Ivar's not taking the bait.]

I'd be more worried about ending up alone in a dusty tomb if I hadn't heard from at least a few people that my name is known even in the future.

[dothelokimotion]

A few? Impressive. I assume that means a thousand?

[ragnarsson]

I didn't bother asking for exact numbers.

[Thank you very much.]

At least people actually know of me, instead of being regulated to the status of a myth.

Then I assume numbers are low.

As for myths, they are never forgotten. Whether they are believed or not is not my concern.

You tend to assume an awful lot. I wonder how often you tend to be wrong?

[ Dryly. ]

Wonder all you like, Ragnarsson. You are still beneath the Gods. No amount of wonder or words will give you an edge over me or even the lowest Asgardian.

[ragnarsson]

And yet my words seem to have a cutting edge whether you like them to or not.

[He smiles in that way that most teenagers have when they know they're hitting a nerve with the adults around them.]

[dothelokimotion]

And yet, no way to make me bleed. No wonder your woman ran away. You are hardly man enough to protect her.

[ragnarsson]

[Ivar's eyes turn into a pair of ice chips at Loki's words. He'd hit the teenage Viking right where it still hurts. Rather than explode into anger, as he's warranted to, Ivar's tone goes soft. It's the other type of anger he has, the kind that will simmer for a long time as he waits to use it. Ragnar had always said it made him more dangerous than the first kind.]

Say something like that again and I'll have to really see what it will take to make a god bleed.

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki laughs. ]

No, you'll just tell Thor and hide behind his cloak. You know what makes me the silvertongue above all? It is because in the end, people will always prove my words true. There is very little lying needed.

You cannot cut me. You've naught the skill.

He doesn't need to tell me, I can see you arguing with a teenager from here.

[He knows he's playing right into Loki's hands now. He knows this but he can't help but to retort.]

And you're just like every other arrogant fool whose underestimated me just because they think they know everything. I didn't get this far in life by letting myself get trampled underfoot.
