[ sitting in his room in marco's mansion with a record player belting out blitzkrieg bop. not so loud that he can't be heard, but it's clearly cranked up a little. nico, meanwhile, is sharpening his sword and looking a little put out. after having his memories shared with multiple people, he's not feeling too sociable. but he can hear jason grace in his head telling him he needs to get out of the house and talk to people. ]

Eight months. I've been here eight months and there's still no way to get back to camp. Back... home.

[ the fact he calls camp home now truly reveals just how much he misses his friends and family. ]

This place isn't too bad, but being the only demigod around here kind of sucks. I don't know how many people around here get homesick, but I would certainly accept even some of the gods, Greek gods showing up. No offense to you Norse types.

[ he picks up his sword and sets his thumb against the edge, cheering up a little as it nicks the skin, causing blood to well to the surface. sucking on his thumb, he sets the sword aside. ]

Whatever. Anyone want to go outside quarantine and kill some stuff?

( that just makes this place even more shady, thanks. if they're supposed to be able to leave, someone should know of someone who has left. )

[ reminds him of his half-sister, which only intensifies the homesickness he's been feeling. ]

People that leave and come back, if they do, don't tend to have memories of being here. Apparently there's some issue with the portal.

No--uh. I'm a mutant? It's hereditary power, I don't follow any gods to get it.

( kind of. it's a little hard to explain the whole, technically soul child of someone despite being born to a jewish family of no relation to said witch he's technically the soul child of in upstate new york thing. )

I was here before, too, but I don't remember it.

A mutant?

[ that conjures up ideas of people with three eyes and such. this is the first time nico's heard of mutants. ]

I wonder what causes the memory wipe. It's so weird.

People born a little different? I'm not quite sure how to explain mutants.

( the memory thing though. it'd be nice if there was an easy explanation for it. )

Portal error?

Right. Okay. I'll take your word for it. I should mention the idea of mutants in my world generally means someone with three eyes or something. Which... I guess isn't too far from demigods, but... [ shrug. ]

The portal seems to make a lot of errors. Including bringing multiples of people.

I can promise you that I only have two eyes, two arms, two legs. . you know, the normal number of body parts. There are some mutants with tails and extra eyes. But that's not me.

( a beat. a breath in. )

Like the two Lokis?

Yeah, exactly like the two Lokis. Though one is a lot nicer than the other.

[ is there a hint of red in nico's ears as he talks about 616!loki? no never. okay maybe a little ]

Which one? The one that looks like he belongs in a boyband?

I'm not familiar with very many boybands, but I'm sure that's the one you're talking about. Calls himself a hipster viking?

[wiccant]

Yeah, that one.

( the one he's most familiar with. the loki who fucked him over majorly, but at least he's trying to make up for it. )

Do you know him well?

[deathkid]

Well, we're friends... He's also my boss. I work as the head of security at Trixie. He's pretty cool, but I don't know a whole ton about him.

[wiccant]

( aren't you a little young to be head of security for a night club slash breakfast bar, nico. is loki being a bad influence. part of him wants to open his mouth and tell nico to be cautious, but also. he's been here months, if he was going to--do something stupid to ruin his reputation, maybe he would have already. but most importantly he's trying, and billy doesn't want to ruin any of that for him. )

He's nice. I knew him back home.

[ he happens to be 87, tyvm. and loki isn't being too bad of an influence, considering nico's an influence all of his own.

that said nico senses there's more to the relationship between this billy and loki. nico isn't sure if he should press the subject or not. ]

So... are you friends with him?

[wiccant]

( before, he'd told thor that friends was a bit of a strong word, and it wasn't a lie; being friends with loki's like being friends with a tidal wave. an overly clingy, very strong tidal wave. )

Yeah, friends. We worked together for a while--kind of.

Really? [ this interests nico, making him perk up a bit. anything to know more about the enigmatic godling. ]

What was it like? Did you do god stuff with him?

[wiccant]

( how much of this does he really want to announce over a public feed, is the question. or say. )

Not really? Though I'm not sure what kind of god stuff you mean. . Loki generally just does as he wants. We uh--fought bad guys? Spent about three months together on a space ship.

[deathkid]

I guess going on quests and stuff. That's what demigods do, anyway. I don't know... Fighting bad guys sounds about right. He seems like a hero-type, even if he's mischievous.

[wiccant]

( mmm. )

He does his best. Quests isn't too far off from what we were doing, but--we mostly just messed around. Chased down some aliens, celebrated birthdays. Hung out on the moon.

[deathkid]

That sounds pretty cool, actually. Like super heroes or something, but living on the moon. Demigods, we go to camp during the summer, or if we don't have a place to live, stay year round. I'm a year rounder, so I don't get to see much other than during quests.

And Loki is... Not like the gods I've met. He's not like my dad or the other Greek gods. He's more like a regular guy, like the demigods at camp.

[wiccant]

I'm sorry. If it's full of demigods, I hope it's at least a fun place to hang around?

Loki's different, yeah. I mean--he's not the only god who walks around my Earth and does some. . normaler activities. But even among other gods, he tends to stick out. ( like a sore thumb. ) He seems to've settled in here nicely.

If you have friends, yeah, it's not so bad. For a while, I didn't really fit in.

[ a shrug. nico had a hard time fitting in at camp, mostly because he's always been a loner, and also because he was struggling with feelings for another green eyed, dark haired godling. it was hard to be around percy jackson, especially knowing that percy will always be in love with annabeth chase. ]

Are there many gods that hang out with mortals? None of the Greek gods do.

[wiccant]

( it's something he really does understand, at least. billy had--the same problems throughout the first couple years of high school, middle school. being a nerdy, gay, jewish kid really didn't help him fit in any. he'd come home covered in bruises more often than not--spent more time sitting on benches admiring the strength of the avengers, strength he wished he'd had, more than he cares to admit. )

There are a few. There's Thor and Loki of course, a few Olympians, some alien gods. Thor and Loki are the more well-known ones. Most of them hang out for a little while then go back, but they stick around a lot.

[ nico is immediately curious because, well, that's his family. ]

It's so weird to think of Zeus or Posiedon in a different universe... Is Olympus still at the top of the Empire State Building?

No, they have their own interdimensional nexus they live in. Somewhere in Greece? Or did. .

They fought the Asgardians a decent bit--that's mostly what I know them from. ( because norse nerd. ) Then there's Hercules, of course.
