[ sitting in his room in marco's mansion with a record player belting out blitzkrieg bop. not so loud that he can't be heard, but it's clearly cranked up a little. nico, meanwhile, is sharpening his sword and looking a little put out. after having his memories shared with multiple people, he's not feeling too sociable. but he can hear jason grace in his head telling him he needs to get out of the house and talk to people. ]
Eight months. I've been here eight months and there's still no way to get back to camp. Back... home.
[ the fact he calls camp home now truly reveals just how much he misses his friends and family. ]
This place isn't too bad, but being the only demigod around here kind of sucks. I don't know how many people around here get homesick, but I would certainly accept even some of the gods, Greek gods showing up. No offense to you Norse types.
[ he picks up his sword and sets his thumb against the edge, cheering up a little as it nicks the skin, causing blood to well to the surface. sucking on his thumb, he sets the sword aside. ]
Whatever. Anyone want to go outside quarantine and kill some stuff?
Action
I miss my home too. It's hard now, knowing I have a life here, and a life there. [He shrugs.] But if you really want to go, there's ways. Letha found one.
those plushies are so cute
You mean how she was able to go home permanently? I'm not sure if I want that. It's just... there are people back home that I miss. Like my half-sister and my friends. Even being separated from the gods feels.... weird.
Aren't they just? :D
[As Ivar talks, Winter plays around with the little axe, shaking it back and forth. This seems to entirely amuse both her and her father.]
Look at her. Already a proper little Viking.
i kinda want one
She's cute. She's going to grow up as awesome as her dad. [ a small smile. ]
But yeah, I miss my sister and my friends. There are so many people here with others from their worlds, but you and me, I guess we're stuck without.

[He sits up a little straighter at the compliment. Winter, her grasp floppy, drops the toy to the floor. With a small squeak of dismay, she looks around to see where it went. Ivar obligingly picks it back up and hands it back, earning a little babble of nonsense thanks from her.]
Guess we're doomed to be lonely. Cheer up. They can't keep us here forever.
no subject
Maybe you're right. At least we have Winter here to keep us in line.
no subject
And if nothing else, there's only-- [Ivar calculates the amount of time in his head they're required to stay here.] --four years and four months left of being here in a mandatory way.
no subject
Styx, what was that? [ giving his head a shake and taking in a deep breath which he releases slowly, he glances from ivar to winter and back. ] Yeah, yeah, that's true. I'd like to see what's on that planet.
no subject
Think you'll stay here once your time is up? Or go home? [Ivar himself doesn't know what he'll pick. Five years is a long time from now. He'll be 21, an age that seems forever away.]
no subject
[ still rubbing his head a little. ]
I don't know, to be honest. I have friends here I really care about, but I have a duty back home, to my other friends and my father.
no subject
I understand that. Iโve got things I need to do at home. A war to finish, a country to conquer, people to kill in horribly painful ways....
no subject
I can help a little. I mean, I don't know anything about raising kids, but I have powers, so... [ a wave of his hand before ivar continues, making nico pause and give ivar a look ] Is that really necessary?
no subject
I hate to ask for help-- [Because that means being reliant on other people.] --But I think I might need it to give her what she needs.
[Ivar shrugs fluidly at that look.]I'm only speaking the truth.
no subject
As for killing people... I don't like to unless I have to. Do you do it just for fun?
no subject
At the question, Ivar has to think.] I like killing. A lot. But Vikings do it more for just please. It's to gain honor and glory, to please the gods. If you don't fight and kill, you're nothing.
no subject
I'll see what I can do. If our powers are compatible enough, I can definitely teach her. If not, we might have to take her to Greymare.
[ and he winces as ivar admits to liking killing. nico doesn't mind it, if it's something he has to do, but doing it for fun to get recognition from the gods... ]
My gods used to be like that. They've chilled out a bit over the eons. They no longer expect us to kill people for glory.

[But at least she wouldn't be shunned. Ivar had the heft of being a prince and leader of an army behind him. He'd make sure she was treated as the daughter of royalty should be.]
It's a dangerous place that I'm from. A place with that needs extreme measures to ensure the gods' favor. I'm not sure if those here so much as 'chilled out' over a thousand years as they now have different priorities.
no subject
[ he tilts his head, gaze earnest as he watches ivar. ]
Any place can be dangerous, depending on the person and the circumstances. And the gods are fickle. Capricious. They change their minds all the time.

[Which then begged the question, which world was it the past of? Winter thumped her little axe again earnestly and then moved it to her other hand.]
That's ultimately what Ragnarok is about, how change affects the gods' minds. Not just an end, but another beginning. Renewal of man and the world and the gods too.

[ shaking his head, he kneels down in front of winter, conjuring a bit of shadows for her to play with. ]
Honestly, I don't know much about the Norse, but I've heard rumors that Valhalla exists even in my time. If it's true, that can mean we're from the same world.
no subject
[Winter lets out a small, delighted cry as she reaches out her hands to play with the shadows. Perfect toy for such an odd little child.]
It would make a lot of sense.
[They both came from a place where the gods resided among mortal men and shared the common thread of having demigods.]
no subject
If I was still home, I could ask a friend about it. She has a cousin who is an enherji. I think he hangs out in Valhalla when he's not doing quests.

I wonder if there's a way to check if there's a world that they've brought people in, but from different times. Maybe the people who run the portal can tell.
[Although considering they can't even send people home who want to leave, Ivar's a bit doubtful on that.]
