[ sitting in his room in marco's mansion with a record player belting out blitzkrieg bop. not so loud that he can't be heard, but it's clearly cranked up a little. nico, meanwhile, is sharpening his sword and looking a little put out. after having his memories shared with multiple people, he's not feeling too sociable. but he can hear jason grace in his head telling him he needs to get out of the house and talk to people. ]

Eight months. I've been here eight months and there's still no way to get back to camp. Back... home.

[ the fact he calls camp home now truly reveals just how much he misses his friends and family. ]

This place isn't too bad, but being the only demigod around here kind of sucks. I don't know how many people around here get homesick, but I would certainly accept even some of the gods, Greek gods showing up. No offense to you Norse types.

[ he picks up his sword and sets his thumb against the edge, cheering up a little as it nicks the skin, causing blood to well to the surface. sucking on his thumb, he sets the sword aside. ]

Whatever. Anyone want to go outside quarantine and kill some stuff?

[Ivar is nearby in his own room, listening to the video come through. He sighs and sets the phone aside. He's not going to do a video when he's this close, that would be absurd. He picks up Winter from where she was hugging one of her plush axes and set her on his lap. Then he wheeled down over to Nico's room, sitting there in the doorway.]

I miss my home too. It's hard now, knowing I have a life here, and a life there. [He shrugs.] But if you really want to go, there's ways. Letha found one.
ragnarsson: ([19.7] It's worth a shot)

Aren't they just? :D

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-11-26 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
I understand. This is the longest time I've ever been away from my brothers in my entire life. With all the people that seem to come from different worlds, you'd think they'd have found a way to bring people here if we asked them to.

[As Ivar talks, Winter plays around with the little axe, shaking it back and forth. This seems to entirely amuse both her and her father.]

Look at her. Already a proper little Viking.
ragnarsson: ([18.7] Well that's just great)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-11-26 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so. If she turns out half as clever and tough as me, she'll be doing alright.

[He sits up a little straighter at the compliment. Winter, her grasp floppy, drops the toy to the floor. With a small squeak of dismay, she looks around to see where it went. Ivar obligingly picks it back up and hands it back, earning a little babble of nonsense thanks from her.]

Guess we're doomed to be lonely. Cheer up. They can't keep us here forever.
ragnarsson: ([17.41] Serious talk time)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-11-27 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Winter's attention is drawn by the finger. She reaches out with the tiny hand not holding onto the stuffed axe. She grasps Nico's finger with a feather-light touch. A pale faint light glows around her hand for a moment and Nico will feel something like a slight headache or a faint ache coming on. Ivar sees what's happening.] Winter... [He says in a warning tone. Winter looks up at her father with her pale red eyes. The glow fades away. The tenseness in Ivar's frame fades away.] She'll definitely do that.

And if nothing else, there's only-- [Ivar calculates the amount of time in his head they're required to stay here.] --four years and four months left of being here in a mandatory way.
ragnarsson: ([19.4] I've got an idea)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-11-28 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
That was her using her powers. Sorry about that. You should be fine in a few minutes [Winter is still looking up at her father and Ivar gives her a very stern look as he addresses his daughter. She may be young, but that's all the better to get her into good habits right now instead of waiting till later on.] Which you are not going to use again on him.

Think you'll stay here once your time is up? Or go home? [Ivar himself doesn't know what he'll pick. Five years is a long time from now. He'll be 21, an age that seems forever away.]
ragnarsson: ([17.12] Call in everyone)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-11-28 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Considering she almost killed Letha unintentionally, I'd say a pretty fair prediction. [He sighs, looking down at her. Winter has gone back to happily playing with her axe.] Sometimes, I feel like I'm in over my head, trying to raise a child with powers when I know nothing about having them.

I understand that. Iโ€™ve got things I need to do at home. A war to finish, a country to conquer, people to kill in horribly painful ways....
ragnarsson: ([17.6] Trying to listen)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-11-29 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I like to think it was for the best. [She hadn't loved either of them, spoiled, selfish little brat that she was.]

I hate to ask for help-- [Because that means being reliant on other people.] --But I think I might need it to give her what she needs.

[Ivar shrugs fluidly at that look.]I'm only speaking the truth.
ragnarsson: ([17.35] Let's have a look)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-12-01 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Good. She'll need to learn control. And I don't know if her powers will get stronger or become different as she gets older. You should have seen what she did to a plant a few days ago. [It had withered away right before Iva'rs eyes. He hadn't been sure whether to be worried or impressed.

At the question, Ivar has to think.]
I like killing. A lot. But Vikings do it more for just please. It's to gain honor and glory, to please the gods. If you don't fight and kill, you're nothing.
ragnarsson: ([17.41] Serious talk time)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-12-02 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
At least this is a good world for her to learn in. I'd hate to have her back in mind. No one there has any powers.

[But at least she wouldn't be shunned. Ivar had the heft of being a prince and leader of an army behind him. He'd make sure she was treated as the daughter of royalty should be.]

It's a dangerous place that I'm from. A place with that needs extreme measures to ensure the gods' favor. I'm not sure if those here so much as 'chilled out' over a thousand years as they now have different priorities.
ragnarsson: ([17.31] Spoiling the plan)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-12-04 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I sometimes wonder about that. My own time is so far removed from everyone else's that I sometimes doubt it's a different world entirely.

[Which then begged the question, which world was it the past of? Winter thumped her little axe again earnestly and then moved it to her other hand.]

That's ultimately what Ragnarok is about, how change affects the gods' minds. Not just an end, but another beginning. Renewal of man and the world and the gods too.
ragnarsson: ([17.41] Serious talk time)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-12-05 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
The end of all worlds. The gods end up fighting monsters and giants with most of them dying. That's why they gather warriors in Valhalla and Fรณlkvangr. They're to help in the battles. And then, at the end, when there's nothing left, the world begins anew.

[Winter lets out a small, delighted cry as she reaches out her hands to play with the shadows. Perfect toy for such an odd little child.]

It would make a lot of sense.

[They both came from a place where the gods resided among mortal men and shared the common thread of having demigods.]
ragnarsson: ([20.12] What the future has in store)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-12-09 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Winter keeps moving her head around, trying to keep track of all the shadows now. She's got a little smile on her face, which makes her look a touch like Ivar, since he's the one she learned to smile from.]

I wonder if there's a way to check if there's a world that they've brought people in, but from different times. Maybe the people who run the portal can tell.

[Although considering they can't even send people home who want to leave, Ivar's a bit doubtful on that.]
