[ sitting in his room in marco's mansion with a record player belting out blitzkrieg bop. not so loud that he can't be heard, but it's clearly cranked up a little. nico, meanwhile, is sharpening his sword and looking a little put out. after having his memories shared with multiple people, he's not feeling too sociable. but he can hear jason grace in his head telling him he needs to get out of the house and talk to people. ]

Eight months. I've been here eight months and there's still no way to get back to camp. Back... home.

[ the fact he calls camp home now truly reveals just how much he misses his friends and family. ]

This place isn't too bad, but being the only demigod around here kind of sucks. I don't know how many people around here get homesick, but I would certainly accept even some of the gods, Greek gods showing up. No offense to you Norse types.

[ he picks up his sword and sets his thumb against the edge, cheering up a little as it nicks the skin, causing blood to well to the surface. sucking on his thumb, he sets the sword aside. ]

Whatever. Anyone want to go outside quarantine and kill some stuff?

Sí, I'm a very good fighter. I've trained a lot.

[She's just a small thing, but she's fierce enough.]

[deathkid]

[ he's still a little skeptical. ]

Well, how about we meet and you can show me what you can do?

[shoplifter]

[HUFFFFFFF. This isn't the first time, it will not be the last. But alright.]

... Si tú lo dices. Tell me where to go.

[deathkid]

[ nico doesn't know spanish but he does know italian and latin. enough to get what she's saying. ]

Yeah, I do. I'll meet you by the river outside the communal housing.

[shoplifter]

[She just hangs up and heads right there.

Stranger danger? Psht. Everyone's danger. She hangs out in one of the higher trees with her hands in her pockets, occasionally removing said hands to eat some candies she's got hidden in there.]

[deathkid]

[ meanwhile, nico shadow travels there, stepping out of the shadow of her tree as a candy wrapper comes floating down to land on his head. blinking, he grabs it and looks at it curiously before looking up. huh, impressive. ]

Want to come down?

[shoplifter]

[She hops down instead of climbing down -- the first sign of a perhaps not-so-normal child, when she lands on her feet and doesn't just break her twiggy little ankles. She studies him with a stoic expression, wondering what sort of ability he has, too. Since he's pretty bold about wanting to go fighting monsters, anyway.

[ that's impressive, especially for someone who appears to be a normal mortal. nico tilts his head and reaches out with his senses, trying to figure out if there's more to her than meets the eye. except he can't sense metals, so he doesn't know about the adamantium. ]

Not bad. Stronger than most people? What else can you do?

[shoplifter]

[No worries, buddy, you'll learn about the adamantium sooner than later-]

... I can cut most things.

[She doesn't seem too worried about being around a stranger, though she's clearly sizing him up with her stare, just to see if there's anything obviously dangerous about him. She sniffs lightly -- trying to smell any odd scents on him. Like blood, or what have you.]

[deathkid]

[ she'll probably smell something akin to earth, decaying leaves. in essence... death. but he's mostly benign, watching her with mild confusion. ]

Cut things? How?

[shoplifter]

I have knives in my hands.

[Well, I mean.

Yeah.

She looks expectantly at him, ready to go.]

[deathkid]

[ that just gets him to tilt his head, confusion coloring his expression. but he doesn't think he's going to get much more out of her than that so he shrugs and gives a slight shake of his head. ]

Right... Okay, this way.

[ and he starts trudging his way towards the fence. ]

[shoplifter]

[The kid follows with her hands in her pockets, at ease around the stranger.]

What do you do?

[Only seems fair to prod.]

[deathkid]

[ it's a fair question. nico smirks at her and pats the sword at his hip. ]

I'm good with this. And I can do this.

[ as he speaks, the shadows around him begin to shift and move. they draw in, cloaking them in darkness for a few seconds before he waves them away with a swipe of his arm. ]

Among other things. Do you know what a demigod is?

[shoplifter]

[Huuuh. She doesn't seem stunned by it — more interested, curious like someone at a lightshow examining pretty colors, albeit with a somewhat stoic face; she can be a tough one to read, this kid.]
