[ sitting in his room in marco's mansion with a record player belting out blitzkrieg bop. not so loud that he can't be heard, but it's clearly cranked up a little. nico, meanwhile, is sharpening his sword and looking a little put out. after having his memories shared with multiple people, he's not feeling too sociable. but he can hear jason grace in his head telling him he needs to get out of the house and talk to people. ]

Eight months. I've been here eight months and there's still no way to get back to camp. Back... home.

[ the fact he calls camp home now truly reveals just how much he misses his friends and family. ]

This place isn't too bad, but being the only demigod around here kind of sucks. I don't know how many people around here get homesick, but I would certainly accept even some of the gods, Greek gods showing up. No offense to you Norse types.

[ he picks up his sword and sets his thumb against the edge, cheering up a little as it nicks the skin, causing blood to well to the surface. sucking on his thumb, he sets the sword aside. ]

Whatever. Anyone want to go outside quarantine and kill some stuff?

[ at first, nico just gives jason a weird look because of the quote but then he releases a slow breath and nods. ]

Yeah. I seriously needed that. Can't let myself get rusty. I've got a reputation to uphold.

[ and with that, he flashes jason a wry smirk. it's meant to be a joke, even if a relatively poor one. ]

Careful kid, your starting to sound like me.

[ He laughed a bit, as he slipped the blade into his belt instead of his boot and pulled the helmet off. His hair was wet, he sweats with that stuff on. ]

Still, that was amazing

Heh, you call me kid and I've got probably seventy years on you, boy. [ but he's grinning, sheathing his sword and tucking his arms behind his back. ]

Wanna get a drink at Trixie? Loki gave me the night off 'cause we- Well, never mind. [ are his ears turning red? maybe. ]

I call everyone kids. Even people older than me. Makes me seem older, it's the point.

[ Jason, being the detective he is, noticed that. He arched a brow. ]

One, hell yes I could use a drink, Two, you what? Come on, spill it.

[ He spoke playfully, but something in his eyes went sharp.]

[ kicking at the dirt, he begins leading the way back towards quarantine, then decides it's not worth the walk all the way to trixie and grabs jason's arm. ]

Don't scream.

[ he shadow travels them both to loki's club and jason might feel a little vertigo as a result. then again, shadow travel is like going ninety miles an hour with the top down, but if that's something jason's used to, he might just feel a bit of a rush. meanwhile, nico's ears are now definitely red as he scratches the back of his neck. ]

I went over to the Sanctum and we watched a movie, and then... [ yep, he's blushing. ]

[ Jason was oddly calm when they went through the shadows. It was something he was used to even if it did make his stomach do backflips. He had to clutch his helmet just to make sure it didn't fly off. He gave Nico a flat look when they stopped and he could catch his breath.]

I need a smoke after that....

[ He muttered sounding a little winded. Stepping away to pull the pack out and light up, so that he didn't risk the son of deaths health to.]

You slept with Loki? [ He asked once he let out a breath of air.]

[ a sideways grin forms on nico's lips, his cheeks still flushed with embarrassment. his gaze drops to his feet and he shoves his hands in his pockets. ]

Sorry, it was faster. But... yeah. I, um, yeah.

It's not my first rodeo, I get it. Your taking me back for my Motorcycle later, just know that.

[ Even if Jason knew he'd need a drink, he's always wreckless with his own safety.

Jason took another long draw. ]

Anyway, I want you to say it. If your going to be having sex you gotta be able to say it Nico.

[ He spoke pointedly taking one more drag before he crushed the cigarette under his boot and motioned Nico forward to lead them inside, as he zipped up his jacket to hide the bat symbol.]

But, you couldn't have picked a better person, Loki will take care of you, Nico.

[ nodding, nico leads the way, but not before clearing his throat. ]

Look, it was my first time doing anything like that, okay? And I've known Loki for a while. I've... always kinda had a crush on him, but he was with Tony and then- [ he's not really sure if loki's been with anybody since tony stark. he tries not to pry too much.

the club is booming when they walk in and nico immediately makes his way to the bar. once there, he orders a drink (rum and coke) and settles down on a stool, making sure the one next to him is free for jason. ]

I don't know what he really wants though. I mean, it might not even mean anything, right? Some people are like that and I'm just... me.

I'm not judging you, it's just a bit of life advice from someone whose been around the block more than a few times. You'll find it easier to tell people what you like and are into if you let go of apprehension. Words only have power if you give them power. And yeah, the thing with Tony was pretty tough on him.

[ For once when speaking to Nico, Jason's eyes weren't just locked on the demi-god trying to read every facial twitch. He just moved along with him. Jason sit's next to him his eyes shifting to Tim's old office again, the way he always does when he comes to Trixie, which he doesn't often. Always the hope that Tim would zombie out looking for coffee. ]

Talk to him. Tell him whatever's on your mind, Niks, don't sit on it. Trust me on that. That's how I ended up single.

[ there's no sign of tim, as usual, made even more obvious by the occasional skeleton that walks by ( courtesy of nico's power ) without someone chasing after it to shoo it away. nico follows jay's gaze for a few seconds before looking back down at his drink and sighing. ]

For a long time, I couldn't even let people touch me. I'm still getting used to this. Like I said, I don't even know if he wants something more. But... yeah. I'll talk to him.

[ a beat and then he looks up at jason. ] Why are you single. You could probably have someone if you wanted. You're handsome enough. Cool to talk to and stuff.

Forget about what Loki wants, go for what you want. Be selfish, god knows you deserve it after the shit you've been through.

[ Jason was sure all of his family was gone. He'd stalked Bruce the whole while the kid was there, found the records the day the kid left. Found Damian's to. He figured Grayson was busy somewhere but he hurt Dick enough every time they spoke that he was flat out stirring clear of big brother. As far as he was concerned he had his new found family. Just like the outlaws, it was good enough. ]

I'm single because I'm not wired for those kind of connections, shit I'm no good at this shit here either. [ He motioned around him before ordering straight whiskey, asking for the bottle to be left.] My last attempt at something serious nearly got a civilian killed. The bastard that killed me ODed her while I was taking a shower, and my dumb ass was a little busy saving some people to visit her. When I finally got to see her again shit went sideways and she made damn sure I knew the problems I bought into her life. Into anyone's life as long as I keep doing what i do. So, I'm married to the job. We make our choices. Don't be me.

I am selfish. Everything I ever did was because of a boy I loved. Now there's Loki and I don't know. I don't want to be selfish because I want something real.

[ he sighs, taking a sip of his drink as he listens to jason. he feels bad for the guy, having gone through about as much crap as he has and hasn't found love yet. ]

Remember when I told you about that Cupid god? He told me love is hard work. I guess if a person isn't willing to work for it... it's not worth having. Me? I just... want to be wanted. To belong to someone. And I know I'd be willing to work for it.

You were young, you've learned now. Just because thing's didn't work doesn't mean you give up trying. You do you, Nik, I'll support whatever choice you make. I can't help with the love stuff, but I'll listen.

[ He lifted his glass and took a drink thinking about it, ignoring the jealousy swimming in him. He was used to that. This wasn't a first either. Those he considered his best friends sleeping with the same person he had been. Both cases he could be blamed, and both times he refused to let the jealousy out. ]

Love is hard work, but love's not really the point right now. Sex and love don't have to be the same thing. I sleep with a lot of people, and I don't love any of them. Like I said, I'm not built for it, but you, I think you are built for love. So, tell me about your night if you want. I'll make it less embarrassing and tell you how I lost my virginity if it help. It's at least a cringe worthy laugh.

[ He kept his tone perfect, his heart beat steady. Sure he loved, he just refused to admit it. ]

[ watching jason, nico can't help but feel a swell of affection and sorrow for the man. someone who refuses to love... it seems like an empty existence. for all the struggles that came with loving percy, nico still feels he's a better person for it. he wonders if maybe jason was hurt somewhere along the line to make him not willing to love someone.

taking another sip of his drink, he releases a sigh. ]

You're a good person, Jason. You and Ed both are probably the best friends I've ever had. You deserve some happiness and I hope you find it eventually. In the meantime... I wouldn't mind listening to how you lost it. [ a light smirk. ] It was pretty awesome with Loki, I'll admit. But I think it helps being with someone more experienced, you know what I mean?

[ Jason had been hurt, but from a different kind of love. He refused to open his heart fully after the betrayal that cost him his life. The wake up call from Isabel just made it more concrete. He offered a weak smile to Nico a playful punch given to his arm with no real force to it.]

Your a good person to, Niks, the feelings pretty mutual. And, don't worry about me. I'm fine the way I am.

[ he lifted his glass again swishing it around as he looked back to Nico.]

I understand all right, I lost mine to my addopted father's ex wife, she was an amazing woman. [ a faint smile crosses his face.] I was maybe seventeen or eighteen death throws off keeping your age straight.

[ snickering just a little at jason's story, mostly the bit about death throwing off one's age, but he also nods, taking another gulp of his drink. ]

If you discount the seventy years I spent in Vegas, I'd be about 18 now. Guess we have that in common.

Yeah, I guess you'd be right. So, some other night your explaining Vegas to me. Know, your turn to share.

Fair enough. There's not much to tell though. I got trapped in a hotel and didn't age for seventy years. That's pretty much it.

....that's ten kinds of fucked up. What did you do to pass the time?

I didn't really notice time passing. It seemed like I was only there a week, to be honest.

That had to be trippy coming out of it.

[ He finished his drink and refilled the glass from the bottle he had requested to be left with them.]

Anyway, your doing good right? [ Feelings are so hard.]

Yeah, it was. Everything was confusing. I mean, I went into the hotel in the 30s? I think? It was strange coming out.

[ he watches jason pour himself some more whiskey, frowning minutely. ]

I think so. I just... need to figure out how I feel about Loki. I think he's still hung up on Tony anyway, so it's hard...

[ Jason just nodded unsure what else to say to the mystery of Nico and the magical hotel but he still found it curious. He nodded again as he took a drink from his glass.]

It'll take time, remember that life's not like books. No one just falls in love like that. And yeah. he's still hung up, I know that, so be careful but be understanding. That's what I was doing. [ He shrugged some.] You don't just move on easily from that kind of connection, but, maybe you could be what he needs. Who knows.

[ sipping his own drink a bit more sedately ( he's probably got a better limit than jason, but he doesn't want to test it ), nico stares down into the amber depths. ]

The first time, I fell in love at first glance. But I know what you mean. It's hard getting over that and I want to make sure I give him plenty of time.
