Hey everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate.

I was wondering if people would be willing to talk to me about magic. If it even exists where you come from - if it doesn't or it's just a myth that's cool too, we can still chat - how it works, stuff like that. I got here at the beginning of the month and I've started working at Gramarye Magic Reseach so I guess you could say I'm curious? Magic seems to have different rules in different places for different people.

[ Okay, that was a lot to get out all at once. Caleb takes a breath and smiles. (It's not a bad smile.) ]

Even if you don't know the rules or you just want to lament about a lack of fried turkey or something, we could talk about that too!

Well, most people don't know about the aliens, or they learn and then they forget.

[ The Doctor would have something to say about the nature of the human mind and how it wants to perceive things as normal. ]

Theoretically. I haven't actually found a teacher, yet.

Is the learning and forgetting thing because of the nature of aliens or just...one of those 'we can't handle it so we're forgetting it' kind of things?

[ Look, he's already halfway to the Doctor's hypothesis on the subject! ]

That's pretty cool, though. Do you know what kind of magic you want to learn?

A bit of both, I think. Like, before I came here, the world had been taken over by these aliens called the Monks. They rewrote our history, made us all think they'd always been there, even though they'd only been there six months. Then when they left, it was like they were never there at all. Everyone just went back to life as normal.

[ That's a pretty solid example of how humans just choose to forget. ]

I dunno, really. The basics, to start?

..that's crazy. Did they get chased off or did they just decide to leave?

Basics are probably good; I wonder what the basics even are for teachable magic.

I wouldn't know where to begin. Making pretty lights? That seems pretty basic.
