[ Caleb is outside! On a bench, in the afternoon light, holding his phone selfie-style to take this video, which means it's a little off center but there you have it. ]

Hey everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate.

I was wondering if people would be willing to talk to me about magic. If it even exists where you come from - if it doesn't or it's just a myth that's cool too, we can still chat - how it works, stuff like that. I got here at the beginning of the month and I've started working at Gramarye Magic Reseach so I guess you could say I'm curious? Magic seems to have different rules in different places for different people.

[ Okay, that was a lot to get out all at once. Caleb takes a breath and smiles. (It's not a bad smile.) ]

Even if you don't know the rules or you just want to lament about a lack of fried turkey or something, we could talk about that too!

[ He gives a little wave to the camera and shuts it off, but there's an addendum in text added to the video post in about 3 minutes: ]

PS - if Chase Collins gets himself arrested or on someone's shit list, can somebody let me know? Thanks.

Well that's good to know. Are you taking lessons in among your work studies? That seems like a large workload.

Of course, sorry. I haven't met anybody here who knows of it people from my own world notwithstanding- and yet I still assume people know what it means. Abjuration is a defensive school of magic. Shields, wards, the like. It's not the only magic that I know how to do, but it is the class I specialised in.

That would be fantastic. It's a majority paper data-base at the moment, but if you want to add digital notes that's fine too. I'm trying to get it all onto the computer; it wasn't my medium of choice originally, but I have to admit it's far more practical than paper.

Oh, Earth. Okay. It, uh, sounds... terrible, honestly, with that sort of history behind it.

Surely you're evntually going back to somewhere that *will* care about a high school diploma? Or do you plan to stay here very long term?

Yeah actually, I wouldn't say no to an extra hand. I can only work so fast. Thank you.

How uhh
unfortunate. You continue to celebrate regardless though, I assume. Despite this torrid historical significance.
