[What's a secret that means absolutely nothing to him? If it was worth holding as a real secret, it probably means something, but if it means something, it shouldn't be fodder in a stranger's game.]

I was tempted by Stannis Baratheon's offer. I had my own reasons for not taking it.

[ Wherever Jon is, a magical green light flashes and an origami snowman floats down toward him. Because Loki's funny like that. ]

Is this kind of art common where you come from?

Hello, Jon! No, it's not. I learned it today while idle and decided to share the fun with everyone else. [ He tilts his head curiously. ] I haven't seen you around before, have you only recently arrived or do paper toys simply scream to your soul that strongly?

They scream to my soul.

[There's some deadpan sarcasm there.]

I've only arrived recently. Do you learn quickly, Loki of Asgard?

[He can tell that there's some complexity to the little snowman.]

I like to think I do. At least, if I'm interested in a thing. [ Somewhere on a scale of Godly Hunger to Cat Staring Intently At Lint For Hours is Loki. ] I could teach you.

What can you do with them?

[Aside from eliciting secrets. But he sounds genuinely interested.]

It's a visual art form where the paper is exchanged for a gift of value and the effort involved in folding the model represents a certificate of gratitude or authenticity about the recipient's item. Also a game, a way to pass the time, but a rather fun one. I decided to invent my own rules.

My favourite animal is a fox, so I started by making those.

[Jon doesn't know what to think of a man who admits that his favorite animal is the fox. What is there to say of foxes? Clever, rapacious, sometimes predator, sometimes prey. Jon has hunted foxes, and so has Ghost.

But that doesn't mean anything here and now.]

I'm partial to wolves. What makes you partial to foxes?

[This would be a challenge from some men -- even from Jon, if he wanted it to be. He doesn't. It's only conversation.]

When was the last time you ever heard of someone telling a fox what to do?

[ To narrow down his opinion a lot, bitesize conversation. ]

[His expression brightens a little: fair enough, and the point being made is a bit amusing.]

Never. But a wolf?

[Anyone else he's ever known who could or who tried was a Stark.]

Ah, but wolves answer to each other, there's always a unit. [ He cocks his head at Jon, flirting with a wink. ] Not that foxes are opposed to teaming up, now and then.

My father always said that the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives... he may have meant everyone, though, not only those of his House. It's their sigil.

Still, I'm not sure I answer to much of anyone anymore -- maybe my queen.

What can a clever fox do, apart from magic?
