So everyone knows about alternate universes now. But have they seen any strange ones?

And I mean, strange like. Is your evil alternate twin running around here? Or a good looking one (but with a beard?)

I'm just kind of curious as to what people know about alternate universes and what they've noticed about them.

I thought the other version was supposed to be from another universe? Or were they just pretending to be one of your parents?

Yeah. No surprise there.

Okay let me start again. My parents were from another universe. The originals died. THEN evil clown pretendy guy showed up.

That actually makes a lot more sense. Not that I've run into any evil clowns before.

I'm sorry about what happened to the other version of your parents, though.

What happened to them?

Wait that was kind of nosy, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to.

Dunno.

It's not something we talked about. It's scary.

Like the portals between these universes. You said there were objects that could pull people between places, right? Do you think that's what happened here?

[supersweet]

That's what makes the most sense to me. I dunno if anyone else knows more about portals or not.

They did say during the orientation that the portal draws people who need new homes.

That's already more information than they were willing to give us in the other universe. All I heard there was that the portals were random and there was no way to predict them.

They might not be lying either. Portals can be weird. If a special object is triggered, there's no telling where you might go.

[yokunaru]

So even special objects don't make portals any less confusing.

Why would anyone risk using them if you're not sure you'll end up in the right place?

[supersweet]

Because sometimes people on the other side need help.

Or it's just an accident.

[yokunaru]

[That... actually would be a good reason, if there's any, Yuuri supposes.]

You mean something like responding to an SOS? Does that happen a lot?

It happens. But I dunno if it happens a lot.

[yokunaru]

[There's actually a stretch of time before Yuuri's reply comes this time.]

It sounds so risky. Anyone who's willing to do all that to help someone else must be a really selfless person.

It probably was a superhero. They're always doing stuff like that.

[yokunaru]

Wow! You have real superheroes in your world? What are they like?

[supersweet]

They're like . . . superheroes. Y'know. Strong. Helpful. Kind.

[yokunaru]

Sounds about right, I guess. What about special powers?

[What? While he's never been really into comics like some people, he can't deny that seeing one in action up close would be pretty cool.]

Well, there's superstrength. Speed. Heat Vision. Ice breath.

[yokunaru]

Have you ever seen any of those in person?

We don't have anyone with powers like that back where I'm from, except in movies. There were a lot of stories about ninja where I grew up, though, and I didn't think those were real until recently. After all this, I know anything can be possible, even ninja, superheroes, and alternate universes.

I've seen Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

[ Very up close, in fact. ]

Wow, no one with powers? What's that like? Does nothing ever blow up?

[yokunaru]

[What very superhero-ish names! This is kind of exciting, even for him.]

I wish I knew who they were. I'm guessing they were really well known in your universe?

None that we know of. It'd be a big deal if anyone with powers were discovered back home. The world still has its problems, but usually the government and law enforcement handle those things.

Everyone knows them.

That's cool too, I guess. A little hard to picture though.
