text; @RuffRabbit > RE: Holiday
Christmas is a holiday that's pretty important, back home.
In Germany, it's a family affair, usually. It wasn't celebrated much in my own household, but the city outside was always decorated, and there was usually a parade in the streets on more beautiful nights.
I've heard it's different for some people.
And that gifts have more meaning than others.
I'm curious to know the differences, as I still don't really understand it, much.

[ HE DISLIKES THIS AS MUCH AS VISITING THE DENTIST. ]
please tell me you don't have to do that
i'll trade you
no subject
He gives his phone a funny look. He's not sure about trading, but...]
I've never once in my life sent anyone a card.
It sounds annoying.
Just don't do it if you don't want to.
Simple.
no subject
it's not that simple
especially when even your biggest enemies send you one
what kind of main character doesn't send out new years cards ah???
i can't have him look higher than me
people already look down at him because of his height and we can keep it that way
no subject
...
Main character?
I don't know what you're talking about.
But if he's your enemy, just do something rude.
Ever hear of a glitterbomb.

At least, that's because of the nature of the gift I have for you.
no subject
When you say it like that, you're setting me up. 'Unique'?
I want to know what it is.
Tell me.
no subject
no
he loves bombs though
you know bombs that kill people
so im not sure how that will go over in my favor
no subject
Sounds fake but okay
Anyway
A glitterbomb is an ordinary letter or card you send to someone.
But you half-fill the envelope with glitter, but seal it tightly so it doesn't move around.
When they open the letter, expecting it to just be a card or paper, glitter spills out all over them and they can't get rid of it.
Because glitter stays on you for weeks.

You'll find out when it's Christmastime. Unless you want to open it up on Christmas Eve instead?
no subject
Didn't you say Christmas was weird in Japan?
I don't remember how, but opening gifts on Christmas eve....
Ah.
I'm too curious. Knowing you, it's something unexpected.
no subject
That was only half of the surprise, though. ]
I'm not going to ask what you mean, but this time I think you'll be genuinely surprised.
It's really something out of our world. Kinda.
no subject
Hey, it's not like he'd have to worry about Ken*ucky Christmas here, right.
Instead, he kind of... tilts his head at this message. What?]
...Out of our world?
Did you order something in from Midorijima?
no subject
Anyway, do you want to open presents on Christmas morning and have dinner after? Or did you want to do something else?
It occurs to me that I never really asked what your preferences were... but now that I think I'm pretty well prepared, I'm not sure how I should execute it.

But the truly important part of all of it was family and friends.
no subject
is this what you do to your greatest rivals
or something fun for your friends
from personal experience
[ cause Gin has no problem doing it to both. ]
no subject
...From Midorijima.[Honestly, he can't think for a moment on what it is. It's not like he'd ever shown Aoba where he was staying in that place, and he doubted Aoba would bring him anything Rhyme related, so...
Honestly, he's at a loss. So instead, he'll reply with an easy comment.]
Strange.
I got you one from there, too.
no subject
It works for both. With friends, you can play it off as a joke.
For people you hate, you can make fun of them for it and never let them forget it happened.
no subject
Carols?
Green and silver are good colours. I remember there being a lot of red outside, too.
[But he can't really comment on the 'important part' of it being for friends and family. He's never experienced that. So instead:]
Was it just regular meals, like pasta or rice?I can't imagine getting too excited over a plain dinner on whats supposed to be a big holiday.
no subject
Heeh?
Is this like when couples get so close that they finish each others' sentences? I bet I can guess what it is!
Um... is it something edible?
no subject
...
Is that something that happens? I don't really think I've ever done that to you before.
...
And no, you shouldn't eat it.
Absolutely not...

Essos and Westeros...
I've never heard of these places.
Are you from 'somewhere else'?
no subject
no subject
There's nothing wrong with that.
Curious, though.
Never thought other worlds existed until I came here.
You should have your own holidays, then. What about those?
no subject
[ Aoba stares off with an annoyed expression, puffing out his cheeks. WAY TO TAKE THE WIND OUT OF HIS SAILS. This of course goes unobserved, but he's doing one of those pouts before deciding to drop it. ]
Absolutely not, huh?
I guess I'll wait to find out!

( There's a bit of a pause, and then: )
My people celebrate their victories, alliances made, weddings, a successful harvest.
There's nothing quite like this.
