I feel like my first words to the multiverse should be something big and important but I've been staring at the screen for a while now so I'm just gonna stick to the basics.

Hi. I'm Dave.

I got here a few days ago. I was assigned to what I'm gonna call the nerd unit in the Perimeter Guard, which means I should be developing stuff to make the rest of the Guard's life easier. I've been reading a lot and kept an eye on the network but-- you know, at the end of the day, it's easier to go to the sources and just ask people what they need based on their experience, so...

Yeah. What do you need? What kind of problems have you encountered on the other side of the wall? What weak spots should we be working on to improve? Do people go out there a lot? I mean more like, REALLY deep in the jungle. (Or forest, or valley, or whatever it is. Probably defies definition.)

Because not gonna lie, guys, I though I would see a bunch of drones on the wall. How come we don't have an army of drones already?

So you're more on the monster watching side of things than security stuff. That's good information. Are they all aggressive or there's a varied fauna out there?

I can do that. We can add night vision to distance-measuring binoculars, backlight to a compass too (unless you're using an app but something tells me you aren't).

It varies a lot. Some things are only territory aggressive, or barely aggressive at all. It's just like with dragons, every species is going to have its own set of behaviors. If we knew more, maybe then the Perimeter Guard wouldn't always have to resort to killing.

Those sound great! Uh, app is short for... application? I just have a regular compass. I'm taking some classes at the University but there are a lot of things I still don't know.

...dragons. Are you from the same world as the blonde lady with the little guy? Btw if you want to study those animals instead of fighting them, then that can be done too. Some cameras can be hidden in the wild and then you can see days of footage. Less dangerous that way.

Correct. Want me to modify your own compass or grab a new one? You aren't the first person I've come across that comes from not technological worlds. If you need help with your classes, I can help.

No, I'm from a different place as her. We have met, though.
I might have to think about cameras, though. I didn't consider that. Although sometimes nothing beats hands-on, up close experience!

I don't think there's much to modify on my compass, it's pretty basic, but it's from home, so I think a new one would be great. I wouldn't mind some help with my classes, too. I'm getting most of it, but it is a lot to catch up on technology-wise.

New compass, you got it. So how much it's "a lot"? Are you from some version of Earth or just some magical land?

Uh, I wouldn't really call it magical. We don't even have electricity, though.
