I feel like my first words to the multiverse should be something big and important but I've been staring at the screen for a while now so I'm just gonna stick to the basics.

Hi. I'm Dave.

I got here a few days ago. I was assigned to what I'm gonna call the nerd unit in the Perimeter Guard, which means I should be developing stuff to make the rest of the Guard's life easier. I've been reading a lot and kept an eye on the network but-- you know, at the end of the day, it's easier to go to the sources and just ask people what they need based on their experience, so...

Yeah. What do you need? What kind of problems have you encountered on the other side of the wall? What weak spots should we be working on to improve? Do people go out there a lot? I mean more like, REALLY deep in the jungle. (Or forest, or valley, or whatever it is. Probably defies definition.)

Because not gonna lie, guys, I though I would see a bunch of drones on the wall. How come we don't have an army of drones already?

I'm not sure we need an army of anything, actually. Do we really need that many machines?

It was an expression, why is everyone so caught up on that? It's like they've only watched the pessimistic kind of sci-fi movies. As for that question, that's what I'm trying to find out. If there's so much to explore out there, a few mini choppers that make sure the path is clear wouldn't hurt.

I don't have anything against machines. I just think some things are better left simple and on the ground.

But I'd be happy to have the help if you have some good ideas. Choppers, mm?

Yeah, well, apparently the ground is full of monsters and the wild full of dangers, so.

Yeah, small ones. Or I was thinking about making them animal shaped, too, so they can blend better. Kinda like the ones zoologists send to study animal behavior.

There are some potentially dangerous creatures out there. But so far they're nothing we can't handle.

Actually, I'd like to see that. I'm glad we have people like you in the Perimeter Guard. We need that sort of innovation.

There really are some impressive people here, huh. They sure know how to choose whom to bring.

[If they can fight monsters... He stares at the screen for a second. Ah. He isn't used to being so welcome into a group (not counting MMORPGS of course he last guild was a bunch of dorks, just saying).]

...ah, thanks. That's really nice of you. I'll be doing some testing of my own and then contact the guard for anyone that wants that. I take that there hasn't been much into the way of advancements? I thought that with all these units they have...

There are. At first I thought it might be intentional, but after staying for a while, they aren't really doing anything with the ones they end up with and they send people home when they would have an opportunity not to.

I think it's just fortunate coincidence.

[From the man who plans battles, it just doesn't make sense to send back Tony or Superman if you haven't gotten anything out of them. Fixing minor machine issues is a waste of potential.]

Yeah, we're still sorting things out. We need all the help we can get. I think your ideas will be good for us. Maybe you can help get us to the level we should be at.
