[ it's late, but the stars are shining and the moon is big enough to reveal that nico is once again in the graveyard, sitting atop a gravestone as he munches some fries. his legs swing back and forth. with his mouth full, he pauses and regards the feed. ]

I've been doing a lot of thinking. Mostly about the future. So we're stuck here for five years, right? How many people are planning on staying after that? If so, why?

I mean... [ another bite of fries and he swallows this time before continuing. ] What do people miss the most about their original homes and is it enough to want to go back? If there was one thing about this place that could make you stay, what would it be?

I dunno. Anyway- Loki, I need to make sure I have Wednesday night off. And Jason, I need some advice. Also, Ed, I have a few questions about your alchemy.

[a little smile touches his lips] It's a genetic thing. Practically her entire family is like that.

Heh. Sounds like there's something I'll have to ask her about.

[deathkid]

So her entire family is as inquisitive as she is? That's... a little daunting.

As for the shadow traveling, I'm not opposed to demonstrating.

[jolting]

Oh, that she gets from her father. But the strength and spirit? Yeah, they're all that way.

I'd love to observe.

[deathkid]

Kinda like demigods. Not surprising, to be honest. And gimme a second. Tell me where you're at and I'll be there in the blink of an eye.

[ he's now gathering up his leftovers and his coat, slipping the garbage into a pocket ( he's no litter bug! ) and stands at the ready. ]

[jolting]

You're the first demigod I've met, so I'll take your word on that.

So you can shadow travel here, although you've never been before? That's fascinating. [he helpfully moves the camera back to show his housing. He was given private housing, so it's not like Nico's appearance is going to startle anyone]

[deathkid]

If there are shadows, I can travel just about anywhere. Though, the farther I go, the more tired it makes me.

[ said with a shrug. then, the feed goes black and a second later, nico is stepping out of a shadow behind victor. ]

[jolting]

[Victor is used to people appearing magically, so he's not exactly startled by Nico. Still, the way he appears is different enough to make Victor's eyes widen]

Ah. Yes, I see. Well... you're welcome to rest here a while if you need it.

[deathkid]

I'm fine for the most part. It was a short jump and didn't use too much of my energy. Now, if I would've traveled to the other side of the moon, that's when I'd be tired.

[jolting]

Hm. What is it about the travel that tires you? How would it differ if you moved through different shadows versus just one? Specifically, would you tire more going from here to the other side of the moon in one go, or jump forward through shadows a little at a time?

[science mode engaged. But also doctor mode]

[deathkid]

[ glancing around, nico looks for something to sit on before answering. ]

If I made multiple short jumps, it wouldn't tire me out as much. But if I did it in one long go, it would. Mostly it tires me out because the shadows can be draining. I once took a forty foot statue and two other passengers along with me from Athens to New York. But because of the effort, I almost went into a shadow coma. Meaning, I almost faded into the shadows permanently.

[jolting]

[he nods, as if this makes perfect sense to him. He would love to take notes on this, but he'll hold off until his guest is gone]

I once had my arm torn off by a man I brought back from the dead. I still have the scar. [he smiles humorlessly. And yes, he's aware this statement is hard to believe when he has two arms that are intact and made of flesh and blood]

[deathkid]

[ not actually that hard to believe for nico. people lose limbs all the time at camp halfblood, and the healers always manage to reattach them. ]

You must've had a really good healer then. And I'm guessing you cannot control the dead you rise. That would be the difference between us.

[jolting]

"Good" in the sense that he got the job done, I suppose.

You're the son of a death god and I'm a mortal man. I'd say that would be the difference between us.

[deathkid]

That's the important part, of course.

And I suppose putting it that way, you're right.

[jolting]

You don't seem particularly bothered or surprised to hear that a mortal could control life and death. Is it common in your world?

[he tries to be merely curious, but he can't help being a little annoyed at the idea that he's not the only one]

[deathkid]

Many mortals can control life and death. Give a mortal a gun, and they can do it. It just depends on the circumstances and the person. As for the magical bit, there are some mortals that can control the Mist or see through it. Which means they can do magic like demigods.

[ a shrug. after seeing rachel and other true-seeing mortals, he's not all too surprised. ]

[jolting]

There's a bit of a difference between firing a gun and bringing a corpse back to life.

[he's struggling between frustration and envy, that there are mortals in other lands who can do incredible things and it's accepted. After some thought, he tries to reason through it]

Perhaps... I am like your Mist-controlling mortals.

[deathkid]

That's true enough.

[ cocking his head, he regards victor for a few seconds. his eyes, dark as they are, look to be assessing victor. then, he closes them for a few seconds, reaching out with his senses to gauge victor's aura. when he opens them again, he nods. ]

That's a good possibility.

[jolting]

[Victor is quiet for a moment as he thinks over this new possibility]

In any case, you can rest assured I have no plans of reviving the dead while I'm here. Not only do I not have the right equipment or materials for it to be successful, but I've already done it to two people and... it would take a lot for me to try it again.

[deathkid]

Hm.

[ nico makes a noise in the back of his throat before shrugging. ]

Well, I do it all the time. So if you ever want to come along, I wouldn't mind.

[jolting]

[just stares, wide-eyed. OF course being the son of Hades, he would have that sort of control. But to use it all the time?]

I admit I'm curious to observe your methods, but... no. I already rose two for selfish reasons. I can't do that again.

[deathkid]

[ used to reactions like that, nico shrugs. ]

Fair enough. I tend to get information from the dead when I can't get it elsewhere. Plus, sometimes it's just nice to have someone to talk to.

[jolting]

I can understand that. There aren't very many people I talk with back in Storybrooke. I imagine if I didn't know what happened to them after they were raised, I would bring up the dead for those reasons, too.

But maybe your power makes it easier on them.

[deathkid]

[ interest piqued. ]

What happens after you raise them?

[jolting]

They... [he gives a sad sort of smile] They aren't much for talking. They act violently. As I mentioned, I had my arm torn off by one of them.

Of course, the other I haven't seen in a long time, so who knows what's happened to him?
