Once upon a time, there was a lovely young girl who lived i a lovely little town with all of her family, her servants, and their animals. The girl was training to be a warrior, but her grandmother said she couldn't be one, so she became a nuisance instead.

One day her brother died, and she was not allowed to investigate it. When she did, they married her to her cousin as punishment. And quite a punishment it was, for he was a yellow-livered git who never had any fun with anything. She sat around doing nothing all day, until one day she discovered she was pregnant.

And, seeking advice for her pregnancy, she contacted the dead to find someone who would speak to her more politely than her mother. However, she left a candle burning, and her home burned to the ground with her inside of it.

What about you? What sort of tale can you spin me? (And what sort of tea are you offering?)

Now that's quite a tale. Was that the dead's way of answering the girl?

[ Like an offer of escape, in a way. Did the flames at least take her dreadful family, too? ]

I have a tale that begins with a beheading. A thief who lost his head, and had it put back on all wrong.

As for tea... All I've found here is a box of something called 'Tension Tamer.' It's got a dragon on it, and a princess.

I suppose, all things considered, it was. She's learned a fair bit of humility from raising a baby touched by death.

[She says that, and yet... her relationship with her daughter is very, very strained.]

I believe I've had that before - I wouldn't mind having another cup of it. Do you have a meeting place of choice?

[ Presumably, she would be, here in Quarantine, away from her land. But that's not a guarantee. Jefferson knows all too well what it's like to go from one prison to another. ]

What does it mean for the baby, to be touched by death?

[ He's pleased, at least, that she's interested in the tea. The story's intriguing enough, and it points to her coming from a world more like ones he used to travel to, rather than the Land Without Magic. ]

The sixth floor of the residential building? Unless you'd prefer someplace outdoors.
