[He's out of practice. Steve is quiet for a second as he starts the transmission, bracing himself.]
My name is Steve Rogers. In my world, I'm also known as Captain America. Some of you might know me, but that's not what I want to talk about.
[Well, not about his work specifically. He does wants to talk about work.]
We're all here for different reasons and I'm not going to pry into anyone's business, but I think there are some of us who are used to defending people in our home worlds and if you are, I'd like to work with you. If you're from a world like mine, then this city is quieter than others. But that doesn't mean we don't need to look out for it. The wildlife and technical problems still need attention. I know I'm asking you for more time on top of the work we're already doing with the Perimeter Guard and official positions, but I'd like to make that extra effort. A lot of you are probably better suited to organizing this than I am. If you have projects going, I want to join you. I want us to share those ideas and work together to help the city.
[His posture gets subtly more stern, with his chin raising and his shoulders straight. This part may not just be a general appeal for teamwork.]
It's easy to overlook some problems when most of the big issues are under control. We get by well enough. It's a nice place. I'm not going to let anything put this place in danger. I'm going to be on guard, to make sure nothing gets out of hand. I'm sure this doesn't apply to everyone, but if you're interested in a little community service, maybe we can do that together. Thanks for listening.

Bleh, Video
You guys and Skype, what happened to using a phone as a phone or am I just too old school. [That statement is incredibly ironic...]
And Noted, of course I think I'd have to inspect your pants myself to make sure. [Freya smiles as she continues.] Besides the big bad forest and it's creepy crawlies, is there anything to protect people from? Crime seems almost non-existent with all these heroes running around.
victory! <3
[He almost sounds serious.]
There's always a reason to be on guard. When I first got here, the weather was all out of control and we had to travel out to fix some machine that was causing storms. We don't know what sorts of things the portal might pull in along with us and I'd rather be safe than sorry.
And there are things other than threats we could work on. Just cleaning or improvement projects would help everyone.
:P
[At least if she's going to work with him.]
I didn't hear about this weather. I just arrived. Two weeks ago. Anyway, I'm game for being on guard but I thought you were suggesting something more hands on.
no subject
[That should be fun.]
What exactly did you have in mind?
no subject
[It'll be fun or disastrous.]
I really don't have anything in mind at the moment. My last train of thought lead to a mini-explosion so I'm taking a break from coming up with ideas for a little bit. Give me fifteen minutes and I'll have an idea.
I'm just thinking that there seems to be a lot of crazy stuff that goes on here, on a regular basis.
no subject
That's pretty much the routine here, but we can handle it. If you're worried about the police and Perimeter Guard not being able to catch everything, well, that's why we should get together. Discuss some other ideas. I know we've all been given different opportunities for jobs when we came in, but I'm sure there are people with abilities I haven't gotten to know.
no subject
[Her head tilts to the side thoughtfully.]
I have a job as a mechanical engineer. I'm a bit of a pacifist so I don't know a lot about those in the Perimeter Guard. [Though she's a fairly decent fighter, Freya just tends to avoid fighting.]
no subject
[Because that is totally a suggestion he should be giving. But he doesn't think that it will lead to huge consequences. After all, check doesn't mean destroy, right? The idea is just to do what is right. Maybe he should think more into that.]
You don't have to fight. We're just as interested in keeping the peace as you are, I think. Enforcing order is preventative. If you can build something to help keep the wildlife out of the city or rebuild parts of the abandoned city, that would be important too. Vehicles would be useful for missions. Maybe something to relocate animals without hurting them.
no subject
[Freya offers no follow up after that.]
And I've check out beyond the wall. It's a pretty cool place, a good place to go for a run if you need the space and don't mind running around questionable looking things. [She's had a brief look around.]
I haven't seen a lot of crime inside the city. It's very strange... for a city. Maybe too many heroes.
no subject
[He tends to go in swinging, but what is he supposed to do with giant beetles and angry lizards, exactly?]
It's a strange place, but that's sort of refreshing.
[And something he'll take over the more problematic alternative: What if the wilds were constantly a major threat? He should be counting his blessings.]
Heh. Or maybe just enough? It's quiet, but that isn't so bad.
no subject
[Freya sounds absolutely serious.]
You find strange refreshing? Does that mean your home world is super boring?
[She encounters strange things all the time though Freya also thinks that people are very strange.]
It's small. That's really my only complaint with the city.
no subject
[It's probably sad how ready he is to agree with her plan. That says a lot about him.]
Well, it's quieter here than things normally are back home. To be honest, it's kind of relaxing. Maybe I needed the break to clear my head.
[Granted, it does get a little too quiet for him at times, but he's adjusting to that.]
What was the city you're from like? Was it really that big?
no subject
I wasn't from one place, I traveled a lot and went all over the place.
I think there are only four US states I haven't been too. [She's only been out of the country a handful of times over the years and it was usually by accident.] I've been to big cities and small. I like the small ones because in towns where everyone knows everyone I usually got funny looks. [Which entertained her.]
Cities like New York or Chicago were like masses of people on and LA. Though I prefer to the colder climates.
no subject
Heh. Well, this might be a little temperate for you, then. But it's nice. And it is smaller than the bigger cities back in the States, but it's nice. Relaxing.
[Which is weird for him.]
Apart from the occasional issue with defense, I think it's all right.
no subject
[Like radioactive swap monsters.]
You'll have to show me what you do to relax sometime. Maybe it's better than how I relax.
[Which is very boring.]
no subject
I don't know about that. I usually exercise.
[He usually finds trouble, but exercise is being generous.]
no subject
[She loves running.]
Though I've yet to find someone who can beat me in a race.
[Because Freya is a cheater and isn't human.]
no subject
[Well, she has his attention!]
Would you care to give me a try?
no subject
[Who doesn't love random races.]
We should race for something though, like the loser has to buy the winner dinner.
no subject
All right. If you don't mind buying someone's meal.
no subject
You're kind of cocky, aren't you?
I'm not sure if that's cute or not.
no subject
[He's not above teasing back, although he doesn't think she'll beat him. As far as he knows, she's a fit human, but he'll have to find out in person.]
no subject
[She is so excited.]
