[He's out of practice. Steve is quiet for a second as he starts the transmission, bracing himself.]

My name is Steve Rogers. In my world, I'm also known as Captain America. Some of you might know me, but that's not what I want to talk about.

[Well, not about his work specifically. He does wants to talk about work.]

We're all here for different reasons and I'm not going to pry into anyone's business, but I think there are some of us who are used to defending people in our home worlds and if you are, I'd like to work with you. If you're from a world like mine, then this city is quieter than others. But that doesn't mean we don't need to look out for it. The wildlife and technical problems still need attention. I know I'm asking you for more time on top of the work we're already doing with the Perimeter Guard and official positions, but I'd like to make that extra effort. A lot of you are probably better suited to organizing this than I am. If you have projects going, I want to join you. I want us to share those ideas and work together to help the city.

[His posture gets subtly more stern, with his chin raising and his shoulders straight. This part may not just be a general appeal for teamwork.]

It's easy to overlook some problems when most of the big issues are under control. We get by well enough. It's a nice place. I'm not going to let anything put this place in danger. I'm going to be on guard, to make sure nothing gets out of hand. I'm sure this doesn't apply to everyone, but if you're interested in a little community service, maybe we can do that together. I've been assigned to the Orientation Unit myself, so I could always spread the message to everyone when they arrive. Might be a bit overwhelming, but it'd be in people's heads, that way.

[ John nods. ]

I've offered to run training lessons, as well, for anyone interested. The more of us willing to help, the faster we can get to the root of any problem.

I'd appreciate that. If they want to follow up after they've had some time to settle in, we could help them with that.

Mind if I sit in on some of those training lessons?

You're very welcome to. I'm looking to mainly help whoever with abilities that struggles to control them - it's been one of my main goals over time to control my own.

[livingsymbol]

Abilities?

[He's curious, because it definitely sounds familiar, but he doesn't want to make assumptions. Or call anyone out.]

[tanker]

Powers. Whatever they are - magic, genetic, inherited, or anything else.

[livingsymbol]

That's something we could use here. I think there are a few people that don't quite know what to do with this place. That's probably double true for those feeling out of place because of something they can do that stands out.

Is there something I can do to help?

[tanker]

Giving those who feel like they don't belong and are beyond help a safe haven is what I do, back home, along with the training.

You're a soldier, right? Some people were interested in more combat training.

[livingsymbol]

I was a soldier.

[He's been a lot of things since and sometimes Steve isn't sure what to think of himself. The whole "war hero" image seems too overblown for him. Especially when he's compared to superheroes with actual powers that defend the world against impossible things. But at least with John, he thinks training can't be too new to him, powers or not.]

I'd be glad to help with the training. I have a friend who's pretty good himself, if you want a few volunteers.

[tanker]

Good enough.

[ Because John was a soldier, too. Since then he's been a few different things himself, but what matters is the basics that someone like Steve can teach those without experience. ]

Anyone who's interested in helping out is certainly more than welcome. We can always structure it, between us, depending on specialties.

[livingsymbol]

[ It's hard to define exactly what you are when you go through roles like they do. But at least the experience is still there. That's what counts. ]

I'll ask him what he think, but I doubt he'll have objections. Helping out will do all of us good. It's a better place to be.

[tanker]

It's the whole point, right? It's what I do back home, too. We've got to stick together against whatever is out there. I'm sure there are people who don't care, but I'm not going to turn my back on anyone.

[livingsymbol]

I'm glad we agree on that.

[There are a lot of people that remind Steve of heroes from his own world in the Quarantine. Maybe this is a new start; a chance to put the world back together, even if it isn't his own.]

If you ever do need my help for anything, let me know. It doesn't have to be exclusively training.

[tanker]

Same goes to you, Sir.

[ He might not consider himself a soldier, but old habits die hard. ]

[ And Steve salutes before he ends the call, even though he's still not technically military anymore. It's still nice to have that sense of familiarity. ]
