[When the video pops on, there is this unusual face. No, it isn't a mask. This is who - and what - he actually is. But he is also offering a smile, a gesture of no harm intended, yes? He's expecting a wide variety of reactions, but he has come to know that humans like smiles as well as he does.]

It is far past time that I made myself known and offered my greetings. My name is Wing, and I am what you might call a living machine. My kind are called Cybertronians. None who I have met here so far seem to know what that is, so I think I may be the first of my kind to set foot in this city. If I am mistaken, feel free to let me know.

[Please let him know?] In any case, I'll be assisting you in the Perimeter Guard on patrols and such, wherever help is needed, whatever help is needed. If you should require anything, please don't hesitate to ask. My weapons are my blades and I know them well, but I am not here purely for combat. I was once a go-to for guidance on other matters among my kind.

That, I do. You'll spot me first, I'm sure. I've been told I'm hard to miss, but we'll see about that. Where do you normally spend your time, if you don't mind? I can make a point to wander around a little more often.

Well, I'm a . . . police officer. You'll probably find me near the station.

The station? I pass by that building now and then. Would it be too much of a bother for me to visit you at work? I wouldn't mind taking time to meet with you while you're off shifts.

I honestly don't know what to do with the time off they give me.

[And a nod.] I'd be delighted. To be sure, I'm not certain what to do with my own time outside of patrols myself, other than wander the city. It's a world built to accommodate others of a smaller stature than my own, but I shouldn't complain.

Where do you live? Did they make arrangements for you?

[A nod.] They did what they could. I have a shelter with the Guard that suits the purpose well enough. I'm grateful for that much. This city was just as unprepared for someone like me as I was for somewhere like it.

No, my world always makes accommodations for new technology and robots. They don't take it lightly.

Very good. I know of some species that don't take well to the mechanical kind. It doesn't seem like this is one of those places, but I've not seen your side of it.

They usually just have non-sentient machines. I'm a little more of a mixed bag.

Oh? Are they working on the technology, or is it a trust issue? I hope it isn't a trust issue. You seem like a decent person, and trustworthy. [Even from a short time knowing Dorian, Wing can say that. He has been wrong in the past, but not normally about people.]

[ He shakes his head. ]

They're not longer building sentient machines. Not to my extent.

[That's concerning, in a number of ways. So says the slight dimming of his optics.] Ah. Perhaps I shouldn't pry, so please tell me if I ask too personal a question, but why did they stop? I assume your creators were organic in nature, but I'm not familiar with the situation and I'm only curious.

[ Dorian smiles faintly. ]

It was bureaucratic mostly. We weren't well suited to the field of police work so a lot of us were permanently retired.

[That sounds tragic on so many levels. He can't help but sympathize, being of an almost purely mechanical nature himself, but he tries for a smile instead.] Sounds like you're better suited for something a little different, then. What is it that you want to do?

I'm going to stay a police officer.

It's what I was meant to do.

[He smiles and tilts his head, because that's almost adorable in a way.]

Is it something that you want to do? Nothing against it at all. I'm only curious.

[ Dorian puts his heart and soul into things. ]

It's the only thing I feel I know how to do.

[He should like this person, then.]

That's all well and good. Have you found anything here besides that you can do? Something that might interest you?

Not yet. But I imagine it'll come in time.

It very well may. Many things do seem to work out that way. [He's certainly been around long enough to figure that much out at least.] I do hope you find it soon. I find sometimes the waiting is the hardest part.
