[The video opens up with Ivar sitting on the edge of his bed, phone recording in one hand, and a knife being fiddled around with in the other. It's clear he's got something on his mind.]

So it turns out if you properly motivate people, they can get that portal fixed up to get you back home.

[It's best not to ask what motivation that was, but Ivar being Ivar, most everyone watching can probably figure it out.]

I'm going back home for a while to take care of some unfinished business. I left in the middle of a war and I need to see that through before I come back. [He pauses.] And don't bother trying to talk me out of this, I've already made up my mind. I'll see you all in two weeks.

[He waves goodbye with the knife and then cuts the video. Looks like the Quarantine has a reprieve from the crazy Viking for the next fourteen days. But he'll be back. Ivar's far too tough to do something as basic as dying back in his home world.]

[Wars always take a little bit of luck to win.]

A war in England with what they were calling the Great Heathen Army. We'd blood-eagled King Aelle and were going after King Ecbert next.

( aelle's death matches up with what he can remember reading through, but he can't recall them killing off ecbert. . different sides of the multiverse could still count for that regardless, and the human brain really only stores so much. )

I'm sure the gods will be watching.

They always do. I've got a fate set out by them I've yet to fulfill.

[It was how Ivar had always seen his still being alive after all these years: a combination of his own stubbornness and the gods' intervention.]

Did you ever collect on your nine-rune cast from Loki?

[ragnarsson]

I didn't. Maybe I should get that done before I go.

[Vikings were an awful superstitious lot and put a lot of store into something like that.]

No better time than right before heading into battle, is there?

( vikings and their seers and gods and such. )

I'm sure it will predict nothing but good things.

[Or it might predict Ivar was going to kill one brother and alienate the other two by starting a war with them, but such was Ivar's lot in life.]
