Okay, so this is amazing. I have a room with a bed — and I'm not entirely sure what they expect me to do with that. Also my own chair! It's a sweet deal.

[ Seriously. A chair. His own space. Let the android have his moment okay. ]

Unfortunately, I don't think my charging station came with me on the trip here. Does anyone know anyone technically minded or with a large amount of appliances and scrap? I kind of need it so I don't run out of power. Low charges are hellish.

I can pay you? I think I get wages now. Amazing.

How much of a charge do you need?

Oh, I don't sleep. Or need to sleep.

[ Dorian brightens. ]

A large one. I don't think the devices here can manage it. I usually have a charging station of my own, for every few weeks. I can build it but I don't know if I can find what I need.

What are you going to do with that power?

[He almost answered the question without Christian getting to it!]

[sentiences]

[ Again, the surprise hits him that people don't know what he is. Dorian is slowly getting over it, but it always seems to catch him off guard. ]

Oh, I need it to charge myself. I have finite energy reserves.

Well lucky for you, power sources are kind of my thing. Well. One of my things. But I've got a bunch of other random stuff lying around, and if I don't have it there's other folks I can point you towards. What are you looking for?

[He peers at the screen, then suddenly seems to remember why everything looks dark and pulls the goggles to the top of his head.]

So you seem to be settling in okay.

[Is he talking to a robot right now? For real? There's a definite increase of interest in his eyes.]

And you came in through the door?

I used to have energy transmitters around a bed-like space to help with my charge. Is that possible?

[ His brow furrows as he mulls this over. ]

I think so? I've never really — had anything like this. Or been on my own. It's exhilarating.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian's expression relaxes into a smile. This, he is familiar with. ]

I am a DRN android. And yes, I came through the portal, if that's what you mean. I'm fully capable of opening doors too.

[buildsomething]

You might have to explain what you mean by energy transmitters, but probably.

[He can't help but look faintly amused.]

On your own? Don't you have like, five roommates or did you manage to score a private room?

[sentiences]

I can forward you the schematics, if that's easier.

[ He blinks before brightening. ]

I do, but usually I need to be accompanied with my partner.

That'll work, sure.

[Checking out cool future tech? Yes please.]

Here, I mean. Or did they assign you a partner when you got in?

[ The lines on Dorian's face glow briefly. A schematic of this will pop up on Tony's device. ]

No, they didn't. I'm not city property anymore.

[buildsomething]

[Blink. Okay, speaking of cool. He absently throws the schematic up into a blue-lined hologram in the air next to him, studying it as he talks.]

Well that's what I figured, but I wasn't sure. You are still doing the cop thing though, right?

[sentiences]

I'm a police officer, but hopefully I'll get the clearance to move up to detective.

[ can you believe that is a thing he can do, because he still can't believe it. ]

[buildsomething]

Nice. Always good to have an in on the force.

[He does at least glance over and grin at that one.]

So hey, question. Do you have an alternative if we can't get this energy transference things to work?

[Doesn't hurt to have redundancies, at least.]

[sentiences]

[ Dorian frowns, mulling it over. ]

I could try a direct connection to the power grid, but I'm worried the city won't be able to handle it.

[buildsomething]

Oh, like I said, I can handle the power part. I mean getting it to you. Do you have like a charging port or something?

[sentiences]

[ Oh. His expression clears up. ]

No, but making one shouldn't be a problem. I could tap a wire into my neck or build one, like in the schematics.

[buildsomething]

Fair enough.

[Tony can appreciate a good kludge when necessary. And he has plenty of experience with plugging things into himself, so hey.]

Seems manageable, then. Swing by my lair some time and we can mess around with some stuff, I'll send you directions.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian was not keen on having mood swings due to a low charge, but he was also unsure on how to go about it. These things were usually done for him. ]

[sentiences]

I don't know. Maybe I should look into clothes. I think I have my own closet?

[ He's still taking it all in, give him some time. ]

Why wouldn't you sleep on your bed? That's what they expect you to do with it.
